Love the way you took a few pieces and put them together. I'm with you on the idea of not liking a cardigan or jacket sitting on my shoulders not a sweater tied around my neck. I've never seen the rhyme or reason for that. I do love the scarf, and it amazed me how it blended with everything you put on. I love scarfs, but I would have been second guessing myself of thinking if it would go with everything. Trying too hard is my problem. You make everything look so effortless.
This is challenge is different from Courtney Carver's (love her!) She suggests 33 items worn for 3 months. This is more about using 9'ish items to make multiple outfits. ;-)
Thank you for articulating exactly how I feel about sweaters over shoulders, both tied like scarves and hanging loose! I also want clothes that are practical and authentic! Really enjoy your channel and perspective!
I love these styling videos. You do a great job of explaining how things work or don't work and keep it simple. I also like that you show ways that work even though it's not how you would wear the items. I personally love a denim button down under a blazer :). Watching part two next :)
This was so helpful. My challenge tho is I’m currently plus size while you are trim. When I weighed less I felt like I could wear a paper bag and looked great (as do you) but now my weight is a struggle to find looks that I like and/or feel comfortable in or feel like I look good in.
Thank you for your honesty. I work with women of all shapes and sizes. I understand how difficult it can be to dress a body that's changed. My clients (plus, petite, tall, very lean, muscular, etc.) learn to shift their thoughts so that loving their today body becomes not only possible but inevitable. While the selection for non-straight sizes is definitely more limited, there are amazing pieces available for all body types. Thanks for your comment. 💕
I love all the outfit choices from your capsule wardrobe. Your navy blazer is very versatile. Your ballet flats are nice with jeans or smart trousers. Thanks for the video ❤
Thanks for the practical, easy to find pieces that don't cost $400 each. Will follow you for future ideas. This is my way of dressing, but I needed a little zing to complete the outfit.
Really great video! Can’t wait for Part 2. I want to wear a button up shirt over the top of a T-shirt with jeans, but it just hasn’t felt right. Thank you for explaining why. I’ll make a few changes and see if it works for me, if it doesn’t work, I’ll just let it go.
I saw it with 3 tops, 3 bottoms, and 3 layering pieces. There is a grid that looks kinda like a tic tac toe grid that shows how to combine them that is really helpful.
Button the cardigan up and then you can tie it round the shoulders and still put it on if it gets cold. Enjoyed the video. Love those classy but casual combos.
Oh I’m just going to blurt it out!! I so wish I were your size because I love your style. I’m 82 years old & I have style but I’m short round!! Can’t show waste & tummy until I loose 20 lbs. I so need to purge my closet & do some type of capsule. I have 10 pair of denim jeans & all are good & stylish. Oldest pair in closet is 7 years. No way I need that many jeans. Some are worn multiple times a week & other 2 times every 3 months. How do I start??
Thank you for your kind words!! I promise that incredible, authentic style is available at every size and age, and budget. For your denim... try them all on and get really honest. Which pairs are your favorites? Which pairs don't feel good? Which ones don't fit your current lifestyle? Are there any that feel dated and frumpy? Keep only the pairs you really love in your closet. Maybe move the others to a box out of sight until you're ready to part with them. Good luck!
Love your video, however, i suffer with a hiatus hernia so wearing a bra that is not restrictive is out of the question. I have tried every type believe me. So not wanting to show my bits through tops, particularly when its cold, I only wear dark or patterned tops. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your comment. It's definitely possible to have a fabulous wardrobe that includes only dark or patterned tops. If you want to incorporate lighter solids, could you wear a camisole underneath? Also, how do you feel about wearing the dark or patterned tops? If you're always wishing you would wear something else then getting dressed probably doesn't feel very good. Can you shift your thoughts to fall in love with the darker colors and patterns? Allow them to become your signature style? 💙
Hi! The ballet shoes are thrifted. They are by Joan and David. The shoe brand was started in the late 1960's and went out of business in 2000. They were sold in Ann Taylor stores in the 1980's and 90's. They're likely available on Poshmark. And there are lots of other brands that make this two-toned CHANEL knockoff. Good luck!!
I love poet style blouses too. Not a fan of collars; I have 3 - two flannel and one denim. I'm 100% a knit fan but not around my shoulders; it feels awkward.
Thank you! I don't usually provide links as my wardrobe is almost entirely thrifted. And as a style coach, I prefer not to add to the consumer noise! There are lots of women sharing lots of links! I am always happy to share details about a piece if someone inquires. Thanks for watching!
So many options! Pay attention to the shape of the leg. Nothing too slim/skinny. Wider leg jeans are more modern currently. A nice straight leg works also. Hem is usually best at the ankle bone. They can honestly be found in so many shops. Old Navy has super styles at affordable prices. Anthropologie has a brand called Pilcro. Super denim. And thrifted Levi's are ageless!! Good luck!
In winter I like white shirt buttoned then vest material long sleeve t shirt over the top lightweight collar showing but casual with jeans skinnys leggings fab
The jeans I'm wearing in this video were purchased in the fall at a vintage pop-up market in Salt Lake City. They are boys Levi's... complete with adjustable waistband... the elastic with buttonholes!! The striped top is a very fine gauge sweater. It's from Zara. I purchased it in Norway. They do have a very similar version currently in the US stores.
Hi Linda- Thanks! I love Courtney Carver and her Project 333. This is different and seems to have originated as a TikTok challenge created by Rachel Spencer. For those who aren't familiar with it... Project 333 is a guideline for creating a capsule wardrobe. Wearing 33 items for 3 months before rotating to a new capsule for the incoming season. The 333 Style Challenge is only 9'ish pieces used to make as many looks as possible. Sorry for any confusion.
I have a feeling you are not going to keep that denim shirt. I feel like the mandarin collar looks very nice on you. Up around the neckline it gives you a more open look. Denim shirts are not so easy in my opinion. I think a fitted denim shirt is most flattering overall, but it’s got to be comfy and soft denim for me.
Love the way you took a few pieces and put them together. I'm with you on the idea of not liking a cardigan or jacket sitting on my shoulders not a sweater tied around my neck. Great video. Courtney Carver is the original author of this challenge and wrote a book on it. It's called Project 333.

Your clothes rack moving is funny. Thanks for the chuckle. I like your taste. First time watching you and I will be back.
Welcome! Thank you! I have purchased some caster coasters... so hopefully it will stay put in future videos!! Makes me laugh, too!!
Thank you for articulating exactly how I feel about sweaters over shoulders, both tied like scarves and hanging loose! I also want clothes that are practical and authentic! Really enjoy your channel and perspective!
You are so welcome! Thank you for being here.
Great video! I often have the same issue with button up shirts and jackets
Right?! Thanks for watching!!
Enjoyed "I could get fancy with wrapping the scarf---probably not going to happen"!! That's me.
Truth!! 😂 Keeping it real here!
Love your authenticity and approach to doing more with less in a practical way. Thank you
You are so welcome! Thank you!!
Oh my goodness….practical style is so me. Happy I found you.
Thank you!! Welcome! I'm glad you're here. Thanks for watching.

❤❤❤❤❤ love “realistically not gonna happen” … guilt free styling
My truth! ☺️
I agree 100% about the cardigan over the shoulder. I would only do that if I needed the sweater for warmth.
Loved how many options you presented with minimal clothing items!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!

Add the blazer over the open denim shirt for a more modern look

Thank you! Welcome! I definitely prefer clothing that is affordable and practical... as well as authentic and with 'a little zing'! 💖
Yess love denim shirt front tucked and open
Loved that chambray shirt front tucked!

Oh, cool! Thanks!
Like it all soooo easier to get ready
If I was using the striped jumper over my shoulder I would use the plain long sleeve T shirt as my base layer. Love this idea for capsule packing.
Agreed! I like that combo. And I LOVE creating capsules for travel!
Button the cardigan up and then you can tie it round the shoulders and still put it on if it gets cold. Enjoyed the video. Love those classy but casual combos.
Great idea!! Thanks!
Your clothes cart is cracking me up in a good way. I thought you might end up smacking it into behaving!
It's so silly to live in a slanted house!! I have (I think) remedied the issue for future videos.
Really like your style…..
Thank you 😊
Great outfit white and jeans yeah
Even though you don’t like the combination of shirt and jacket, you look great….
Thank you!
Loved it and you got your pink in 😂
Love this channel. Thank you.
Thank you so much!! Thank for watching!
Where did you get the belt? Love that it’s low key but adds interest and goes with everything.
Target! Sadly, they don't seem to make it anymore or I'd by 6 to stock up!!
I love your cami. Can you share the brand?
Un estilo muy personal, me gusta.
Thanks
Well soowonderful easy dressing and modern timeless
Camisoles great with blazers great
Totally love, the camel colored cardigan and your longsleeve, white cream color shirt
Thank you! Same!!
Can you share where you found your scarf? Is there a link? It has all my colors in it.
The scarf is by SAACHI. I thrifted mine... and it was sold at Anthropologie when I worked there.

How would you describe your style? Love it.
Classic, a little French tomboy, simple.
Would love to know where the ballet shoes are from please! 😊

Kristen what jeans do u reccomend for over 60 woman that is now more up,to date.?

Don't like denim but love denim shirt left open
I don't really either. ;-)
Even black or navy skinnys fab
In winter I like white shirt buttoned then vest material long sleeve t shirt over the top lightweight collar showing but casual with jeans skinnys leggings fab
Courtney Carver is the creator if 333 I believe.
Where did you get that great garment rack?
Amazon. $25. I bought it in the fall when one of the airbnbs we were living in didn't have any closets!! It's been great. Super easy to put together.
Funny, I wear a button front shirt everyday - with a cami under. The tee look is my uncomfort. Zone. 😊
Love that! So cool that we all prefer different things!
I’d like to know where your jeans came from? And your striped top? Thanks so much.

The 333 style concept is not new. it was initiated in 2010 by Courtney Carver. I am not surprised that a Tik Tok'er took credit for the idea....

Collared shirts put short necklace on
I think fab simplicity and you will wear up not waste
Size of the scarf?
I'm not exactly sure... it's about 30" x 80"
I don’t like collared shirts on me either. Feels masculine.

I usually prefer collarless shirts. The collared chambray feels pretty good when I wear it. We'll see how much wear it gets this spring. Thanks!
@@KristenCainStyle Yes, I think the collarless look really good 👍🏼.
I was delighted to notice living in Utah that you weren’t wearing Mormon garment/underwear. (author, In Polygamy’s Shadow)
What is the white dotted blouse?
It's from a brand called Falls Creek. It's cotton and was recently thrifted.
more sophisticated scarf and neater jeans would elevate the look. all the outfits are very predictable,
Thanks for your thoughts. I'm good with my predictable outfits. 😉
All outfits are versatile and easy
@@joannanangle4876 Sure, for someone with no sense of style or imagination.
@@ytang5615wow, what a mean comment. I think you’ve missed the point.
