  • A very unpleasant experience. After a ride, this happened. It started normally again the next day, but is now with the BMW service centre.

Mine did this when the battery was weak. Put it on a battery tender overnight and now it cranks fine. This cold spell we just had is hard on motorcycle batteries. Hope you got it running.

It reminds me of a low battery issue, hope it's a easy fix

The bike is 2 months old, and is well used at weekends, so should be well charged. Everything is wired correctly, so there is nothing draining the battery when the bike is off - no tracker, etc.
The bike started, without issue, the next morning, without me doing anything to it.
The dealer said it may have been a slightly loose battery connection. They couldn't find any other fault.

@@photobiker4309 you know I had a similar thing with a brand new Suzuki a few years back and it happened for me with the handle bars were in a certain position now that I think of it, they disconnected all wiring harness that led to the instrument cluster and cleaned them with WD and moved the wiring harness forward slightly and the problem was gone!

Maybe ask them to check all th wiring connections that lead to the instrument cluster worth a shot and is free under warranty. It probably is a loose a connection I hope it's sorted for you now anyways

@@novicetheaf I'll keep a close eye on it. The bike only had it's 1,000km first service 4 days before the issue.

The dealer said they ran diagnostics and could find nothing. They said that a terminal connector on the battery was slightly loose, so that may have been the cause. I'm a bit sceptical, but we shall see.

@@photobiker4309 Ok, that’s normal, everything is going to be fine.

@@photobiker4309. BMWs always seem to come with loose battery terminals. That’s a common issue and many channels say you need to check them from the factory. Had a new Nissan 350Z same thing. First cold night, wouldn’t crank. I went to jump it off and the positive terminal could be taken off with my fingers. Negative terminal was loose too. Put a wrench on those terminals and give them a good tightening and see if they are loose. The shop may have done it when you took it in, but worth a check.
