AWAKE VINGA Review | Testing New Jet Efoil by Awake 🚀

  • Today we are testing New Jet Efoil by Awake called Awake VINGA
    A pure and smooth flying machine which will take foiling to new heights
    Performance, safety, and ease of use will always be core elements in creating any Awake product. However, in the development of the Awake VINGA, they have been pushed to new levels of excellence. The Awake VINGA has something for everyone, allowing the inexperienced rider to take their first-ever flight on an efoil and the more experienced rider to execute the most audacious maneuvers.
    Discover the thrill of eFoils: e-surfer.com/e... and explore top Jetboards: e-surfer.com/e....
    Different boards, one battery. A key component of Awake’s modular design is the Awake Flex Battery System. This allows you to use any Awake surfboard battery on any Awake eFoil and vice versa in the blink of an eye. Perfect for those who can’t decide between the electric surfboard experience or the eFoil experience - with Awake you get the best of both worlds.
    Riders can choose from two front wing sizes. The Awake Powder 1350, which is perfect for dynamic cruising (up to 80kg). And the Awake Powder 1800 - also perfect for dynamic surfing for those above 80kg and beginner-friendly for lighter weight riders.
    And, just like our Awake RÄVIK series electric surfboards, there are three different riding modes; Eco, Sport and Extreme.
    Ride assured that we've thoroughly thought through and finely tuned each and every component with safety in mind: from the rounded wing shapes, soft edges mast to the fully covered jet. And, of course, our signature 4-layer safety-protected Awake Flex batteries that power the eFoil.
    Indeed, the linear jet system that moves the Awake VINGA across the water is fully covered ensuring that, should a rider fall, they will not make contact with the impeller. And wipe-outs are less frequent and softer thanks to a continuous flow of water through the jet.
    In just a few quick clicks you’re ready to fly because no other eFoil is assembled faster than Awake VINGA.
    Awake's proprietary Click-to-Ride system means cumbersome hoses, screws, hatches, and cables are replaced by a modular snap-together system. Battery, mast and board are connected in a matter of seconds.
    Simplicity of design also means that VINGA is easy to maintain.
    The Awake VINGA eFoil is short but generous in volume, stable but agile, powerful but precise. Which means there's something for everyone. Inexperienced riders can take their first-ever flight on an eFoil with confidence, while the more experienced rider can test their limits by executing the most audacious manoeuvres.
    And because our Powder Wings are developed for dynamic cruising, they provide a smooth and stable experience while allowing for playful and precise carving.

      Jet is definitely here to stay, especially now that these super fun alien watercrafts are invading (I mean that with admiration) every body of water, including flat lakes. But I don't see it replacing the propeller just as jet hasn't replaced props of other crafts in sea or sky entirely.
      But there might be certain locations that will one day only allow jet versions, due to legislated safety concerns. Time will tell.

      @@JetSurfingNation There are two lakes near me. One at my home on the water and a much bigger lake about 25 miles away. I will have to get the home owners association to allow the board on the lake I live on. They classify E-Foils as PWCs in the US and so they get lumped in with the noisy Jet Ski pile which stinks.
      Again, thanks so much for your videos!

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We can't be really comparing them yet.. Fliteboard is world leading established brand in efoils, offering top class tech and dozens of wings, board types etc..
      Awake is jetboarding brand, they are only now entering efoiling market with just 1-2 board sizes and barely any wings yet. The system is very heavy as well. They have great tech as well and bright future but it's not there yet to compare to Fliteboard.

    Are there speed levels on the remote? Or do the different modes serve well enough to limit the speed for beginners and those that prefer mellower speeds?

    How did it go riding waves? can you come off the throttle and ride a wave? or too much drag?
    Similar riding time to other efoils, but 9kg extra weight and much larger batteries. Does not sound more efficient to me

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think you can ride jet completely depowered, you still need to keep jet going at least little bit to avoid drag. But not enough experience in waves yet, the day they came was flat. Lets see next few months for more rides in waves.

  • @gavincondo
    @gavincondo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also the jet compresses the water! thats a bold claim

    • @freedomfirst7143
      @freedomfirst7143 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, especially since water can’t be compressed. I think he meant it constricts the water to speed it up therefore providing more thrust. English is probably not his first language.

    • @mikeb1039
      @mikeb1039 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything about their description of what makes it a "jet" is marketing (or bs, your choice).
      Nobody involved understands how a jet actually functions.

  • @Everything13ish
    @Everything13ish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hadn't thought about the jet kinda locking you into the water vs a prop. I might have to Print up an impeller and housing to replace my prop!

    Mike, as you ride folding prop and jet, what to your opinion will be the market standard in a couple years?

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's completely different approach. The folding prop is great for wave riding completely depowered.
      With Jet i don't think you can completely depower, you still need to keep power going to avoid drag. Jet is also safer for beginners but makes the setup heavier.

  • @martimur1

    I would like to ride something like this but I don't have the courage

  • @freedomfirst7143
    @freedomfirst7143 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How is the feel and efficiency of the jet compared to a standard prop like on the Flightboard? Did you actually get the claimed runtime of up to 2 hours?

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't verify exact riding time because it was a lucky short visit, they are driving through Europe on a big VINGA test tour and only stopped in my place for a few hours to do quick interview and water tests. But from what we saw the riding time was pretty good, we were about an hour in the water and only spent half the battery. Also when you are learning you are going to use much more battery (because we fall a lot and overuse the power) compared to pro rider who will fly easier.

    • @mikeb1039
      @mikeb1039 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont' see you falling a lot, you're pretty solid. ;)

    • @JetSurfingNation
      @JetSurfingNation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well after i tried all efoils it gets pretty easy, it's like sitting in a new car, it is just another car. But for complete beginner it will be pretty challenging to learn on such a small board. Usually people learn on a huge Fliteboard air.

    • @freedomfirst7143
      @freedomfirst7143 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for getting back to me on the runtime. I was just worried that the jet design might cause more drag and hurt the range, but it sounds like it should get close enough to what they are saying.

    • @JetSurfingNation

      Waydoo copied fliteboard fuselage design, as for 3 component setup it was introduced by Awake long before Waydoo existed. Onean carver also had a similar setup for the battery. Waydoo is a great beginner board but no need to over estimate it.

    It is NOT a jet! It’s a propeller in a housing. You lose efficiency and speed.

  • @mikeb1039
    @mikeb1039 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    LOL, "the jet is a propeller inside a tube" - umm, no.
    Claims of high power but no top speed given. hmmm
    You really MUST start asking what the battery SIZE is when you test these.
    Claims of riding time mean 0. Weight of the rider? Speed ridden? Times fallen? etc etc
    ASK the makers "what is the size (in output) of this battery?"

    • @JetSurfingNation
