I have a Sony x700 and it freezes up two but I learned to check the disk for dirt or other foreign smudges or wipe with clean water.also check if players are too hot that player needs to be cooled down.
I've had the x700 for a year, and I've come to the conclusion that it's just not very good. Most BD-66 (66GB) Blu-rays over 2 hours long will eventually freeze or start skipping in the last 3rd of the film, requiring the player to be restarted, and BD-100 (100GB) Blu-rays are basically just DoA. They'll start freezing/skipping about 10mins in. I've been through every possible fix I could find online, and all the disks play perfectly on my Xbox One X, so I'm pretty much at the point of just switching to Panasonic, or maybe Reavon. It seems like some people have had better luck with Sony's UBP-X800M2, but sadly those aren't available in my region.
Can someone tell me if I buy a 4K Blu-ray player that supports backwards compatibility and is regional unlocked, will I be able to play my DVD's from the 90's and Blu-rays from the 2000's? Please help me.
I just recently bought the Panasonic UB420 on sale for Black Friday. I know it's not the very best but I feel it's good enough for me and my use case. I also stream a lot of my content but I'm thinking about canceling some of my subscriptions. Streaming is really getting too expensive. I cut my cable sub off to start streaming. It's almost as expensive as cable. I hope I'm happy with 4K blu ray now. 😊

You’ll never convince me to do away with physical media. I hate being reliant on an internet connection even for movies I’ve paid to OWN, or having varying levels of audio/video quality depending on what my connection is doing. But beyond that, I hate essentially paying for air with digital buys. I like the act of picking up a physical case and disc, looking at the album art, and the act of putting the media in a player. In a simplistic way, I feel like I have some kind of knowledge or skill in doing so, or that I’ve worked just a tiny bit and had purpose in watching or listening to something. It’s so frustrating how inaccessible finding physical media has become. Almost no bricks and mortar stores have it new anymore (or used for that matter) and it’s become a scavenger hunt to find it online to order.
I own the above mentioned Panasonic, and I'll tell you it's amazing and well worth the money that I paid for it, no disappointments at all with it and worth every cent
