Exactly the way you want it to look right when we win right? Straightforward and clear across the line in 1st. The raw technical skills to make it happen here are relatively lower compared to a lot of tracks, but the knowledge, planning, and execution of the pack racing is it's own challenge. Glad you enjoyed the show!
Sitting down at the beginning of the race with some friends... "This guy is good, that guy is good, but you got to keep an eye on this Gresham Wager guy..."
As a NASCAR fan, I can see those plate racing instincts kick in knowing where to be at the right time. Such a unique style of racing with these cars at Daytona
Absolutely mega. Watched the IMSA tv coverage and could see you trying to position yourself in the right place for those last two laps! High speed chess at its best, and that exit out of the bus stop on the last lap was absolutely critical! Well done on the win!
Great race, thanks for sharing... looked wild in both races, looks fantastic fun!! love the #72 driver calming putting his mirror back in the right position at 4:07 🤣
I saw the hand come out and I thought it was him flipping the bird or an F1 style "wtf are you doing!" gesture. Only after seeing this did I go back and yup just fixing his mirror.
Amazing racing every time, just rad to see an onboard and how powerful of a tow these little things produce…pushing 150! I’m convinced this is the perfect track and series combination
One of the best parts of the 24 week is coming to our pit box before our weathertech session and these guys are in their final laps, always the best races of the week!!!!
These are insane! That race was so much fun to watch. I was sitting on pit road patio watching. I have a couple clips of you guys coming by the start finish line and the end of the race. Awesome win!
@@thesprawl2361 if you watch what happens in the the last corner, one car makes a break for it but because the pack behind him was bump drafting (you push the car ahead that makes the speed increase and because your in the cars slipstream there’s less air resistance which gives the car behind more speed as well) that gave Wagner the opportunity to pull out of the slipstream with the most speed and gave him the win.
Best racing there is out there. Counted 6 cars on the last lap all with a chance. Great drive! Even better win! When the car in front is dragging the brakes is that to prevent him from having to go to the lead too early? Would be nice if you walk us through what you guys are doing and how. Thanks from Virginia
Hey -- I answered a similar question above, but I'll copy my response again here because I think it essentially answers the same question: Especially in the last 2 laps, nobody really wants to pass and be at the very front. Instead, everyone just ends up packed up in a line, and there's more momentum coming from behind than we can really do anything with. Just cramming into the car ahead even harder than we already are doesn't really achieve much at that point, so dabbing the brakes is a way to modulate how hard the constant shoving is so we aren't just crushing and jacking up the car ahead. When two or three cars have a run and pop out and actually have somewhere to go with all that momentum, you don't really see that happen.
A few days ago, I commented on the wrong video. Didn't pay attention to the title. I thought the 2021 video was this one. Still, great driving, great timing, and you deserved that win. Me and my 3 year old sun were cheering when you won. Keep it up man.
Amazing race, what an insane finish! These guys are driving closer together at 100mph than I am parking behind the car in front of me at a stoplight lmfao
Start of the Race: Hmm, #5 is 12th. That's not going to last long, End of the race: Yep! An epic race and well deserved. Congrats!!! I'm super happy that race control didn't black flag you, the #87 and the #13 for the loose (metal? fiberglass?) rear bumpers. Seems to not be a problem in race #2 fortunately. What an incredible way to start the 2024 race season.
Great racing!!! Just curious, what's with all the braking on the straight? Is it necessary for car control or is it to communicate to the car behind, or what?
Sometimes there's just nowhere to go with all the momentum we have, especially when nobody wants to pass/lead the last couple of laps. Once we are connected and not going to pass, there's no sense in pushing the car in front any harder really. That, or if you need to back up to the car behind to get connected for a push, the best way is just drag the brake back to them so they can push.
I’m glad you won! Congrats! But the goof in car 39 caused that whole chain-ramming that cost the purple 13 rookie driver to lose the lead. I felt bad for him, because of someone else’s lack of focus.. Glad everyone got their bumpers tied down for Race 2! Again, great win! 🎉
I've done it before and flirted with the idea of and on, but the truth is that this racing is only really starting to get the viewership and attention it deserves. It can be tough to justify making videos like that for what was previously such a small and niche audience (despite the MX-5 Cup being very generally known about), but if the demand is there, it is definitely something I can put some effort into for the future.
Whichever one we get the opportunities in. Of course I also race in GR Cup, but the prize money and cost vs. value in these series is the only thing that is sustainable for somebody in my financial position. Lots of people have come and gone from MX-5 Cup, but 95% of the time, they are just paying more to move on up the ladder. The rare exception being drivers like Connor, or Tyler getting picked up by TRD, and now moving up in their program to GT4. It's simply a matter of funding, and the next step beyond GR Cup and MX-5 Cup has next to no prize money in comparison to these series. At that point, you can't offset the costs (which are exponentially higher) -- either you have to be paying or somebody else is paying on your behalf. Simply put, the logical place to move beyond this is up to GT4 or Super Trofeo/Carrera Cup, but unless somebody wants to assist that, I'm going to keep racing in a place that is financially logical and sustainable.
Especially in the last 2 laps, nobody really wants to pass and be at the very front. Instead, everyone just ends up packed up in a line, and there's more momentum coming from behind than we can really do anything with. @@GreshamWagner wow that’s super interesting. I knew you wouldn’t want to be at the front here. Atleast in iracing that’s how this track runs lol. But the lengths yall are going to not be in front is pretty wild. Man I bet this is some fun racing!

Was at the race this weekend, and you guys are by far the most entertaining series at the track. So much action.
Best racing series out there. What a drive
Watching this live was absolutely exhilarating. Amazing job using the bump drafting to get a run, congrats on a well deserved win 💪🎉
What’s bump drafting? I see him bumping the guy in front and had no idea that was even allowed never mind a valid tactic

Why are they tapping the brakes on the tri-oval straight with no cars in front of them?

Good hard, clean driving…………except at the end, but, that’s racing……..
Why are people braking in the straights?
bump draft is allowed ?

Why is there so much brake light going on in the straights from the cars ahead? Kinda messed with you.
