    Wow, thank you very much for this very elaborate and enthusiastic review of our project. I also have to compliment you for explaining the distro the right way. That is a rarity, most vloggers or bloggers explain us as a beginner distro for Arch, which we're not. You got it right on point. Merci beaucoup!! (Your English is very good, btw)

      I felt right away this is not beginner oriented, but just a great distro made easy to use. It may help beginners to start but above all gives peace of mind to users of any level.
      Complex to install and use distributions surely teach a lot, but learning does not require pain and there's nothing wrong going with ease of use. Plus at some point Linux is made to work or play with applications, not just to experience issues and find our way around it. Personnaly I prefer way much spending my time working on an app than working on the system making it run.
      So thumbs up to you and the team Bryan. You did great and it helps me a lot to stay foccused on what really matters. So thank you.

    I have also been using Endeavour for about 18 months and have had nothing but good luck with it. I have a desktop that is my daily driver and has the original install and a laptop that has been installed three times due to excessively old hardware and purposely breaking it, which I have to add is almost impossible to do. I used to think Arch was unstable because of Manjaro, but I was obviously deceived. My desktop is more stable than my Debian server!

    I am a Linux newbie, I split my win10 c drive into 2 partitions and installed EOS as my first ever Linux system. I picked KDE for desktop an installed Wayland took me 2 evenings at my PC to be comfortable and I pretty much have my windows look but on Linux. EOS was easy to use and having yay for updates is awesome.

    This vid may be a year old at this point and other distros like CachyOS and PikaOS are promising alternatives, but as someone currently still in EndeavourOS (having rotated from Manjaro, Pop!OS and ZorinOS), it's remained overall reliable for me amidst frequent updates, with the only few hiccups being either ultimately user error (messed up locale files which affected date/time display of info), or more of an overarching Arch related issue where posts for workarounds and solutions can be found (some packages basically needing newer versions of dependencies). Admittedly there's something with dongles over USB C that I can't fix just yet, but that also seems to be an Arch related thing, as audio works fine over regular USB ports.
    It is, as mentioned on the top comment, not a beginner distro by any means, which is fine -- this is a neat distro to explore after having some background in Linux distros already, with just enough to get a good amount of apps you need running.

    EndeavourOS is my daily driver for 18 months now. Love it. Only problem I had was some broken package that I fixed with a temporary package downgrade. I used to use Linux Mint, but EndeavourOS is much better.

      How did it go? Ant major pitfalls?

  • @Bloodysugar
    @Bloodysugar 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I installed it only to test Plasma 6. I enjoyed it.
    As it says it's terminal centric I tested its console, and coming from Debian it's been a chock to see all it could do, and above how it works. So I started to develop quite a crush on it.
    I tested how it deals with games, and holly molly, that was great ! Then I tried installing Stability Matrix to see how it deals with complex Python environments (as it has Python 3.12 by default, but Stable Diffusion is all about 3.10 and needs many virtual environments because of how many GUI you can use) and I've been blown away. I didn't need to install 3.10, I didn't need to create any venv, it did it all by itself and runs flawlessly. At that point I felt in love.
    I guess Arch can do it too. But Endeavor makes it so easy to get into Arch environment that it's a no brainer. I felt it at least as easy as Mint. It's insane how KISS it is, while at the same time helping a lot to get into more advanced uses.
    I must say I got some stability issues, but so far nothing a reboot couldn't salve.

    I love Endeavour OS. It's arch on easy mode without the instability of Manjaro or the bloat of Garuda. It's been installed on my home server for nearly 3 years now I think and it's still running strong. If I had to change anything for my own benefit, I do wish pamac was installed by default. It's my favorite package manager with AUR support, but for some reason the pamac installer on the AUR never seems to work. I know you shouldn't really be running Arch unless you are ok to dive into terminal, but sometimes I just don't want to...

    • @incremental_failure
      @incremental_failure 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Manjaro has also been full of problems for me over time. But I personally hate Pamac as it's not thought through, quite buggy if you use it a lot. Paru has been amazing as AUR installs work nearly the same as binaries.

    Thx for your video. I used Endeavour for months before leaving for...Cambria linux "because" or "thanks" of/to you ;-) I must say, Endeavour is a beast like Arch is. Linux Mint (and LMDE), Fedora, and EndeavorOS are the best distros out of the box. All three have their place and I use Arch now but if I have to recommend a distro it's always those three.

    • @A1RM4X
      @A1RM4X  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BTRFS comes with a lot of features that you can capitalize on. The snapshots can be a game changer if you break your distro: one reboot and all your mistakes are gone.
      BTRFS seems to perform a little bit under ext4 and also requires more knowledge / maintenance.
      You get the trade off...

      @Bob-of-Zoid ปีที่แล้ว

      Endeavour OS had a few installer problems on first release, but nothing one couldn't work around, I installed it, and it has been rock solid ever since! Of course the EndeavourOS team does not remake anything, nor give you much of anything out of the box, but a working system you can get online with, a few really good tools, and a little theming (just a color scheme and wallpaper), everything else is up to you, so of course you can break it based on your choices, but unlike others, see Manjaro, it's so stable because they don't try to give everyone what they want, and end up introducing bugs. There is no such thing as one size fits all; EndeavourOS is there to get you up and running quick, with everything you need to take it to the next level, and any which way you want t to.

    Endeavors lives up to its slogan. They had the courage and sensitivity to solve a thorny problem regarding group management in systemd. Maybe for other people this is nothing but for me it is my livelihood and soul and systemd completely kills any possibility of freedom and creation.
    I'm not a professional specialized in operating system configuration, I'm just a multimedia producer and the systemd kills Ardor in what it has to do with the most professional and genius, which is precisely making complex mixes in an extremely simple way, achieving complex results.
    Not even AVL MXe, through Glenm magnificent work, can work well when started by the systemD. EndearvourOS is a case study and example of a solution to a possible dispute between the system and another init system. Not even the Arch forum can solve the problem of mix requests and Endeavor gives us this in a smooth and elegant way.

    • @Bob-of-Zoid

      EOS's repository is for the ISO's, EOS theming (it's minimal) and EOS tools only. It has several DE's you can chose from, and they come with the boot splash choices, EOS has nothing to do with that, nor can they theme them all, only bare minimum, so the Wallpaper. I believe there's a section for user created stuff, and once one is there, only then may they add it. That or in their Git, so if some user makes one it will probably end up there. The EOS team is like only two main developers and a few more who help here and there, and they concentrate on what really counts: Making sure it's rock solid, and posting in their forums whenever downstream problems come to light, and improving the tools...
      If you can make one, then maybe you should; you can get the logo and then some from their git, pages.

    EndeavourOS is pretty poorly built for hybrid graphics laptops. It's 1 to 1 with Arch. You have to compile a lot in specific to what display manager, Kernel, CPU you have. Konsole output never matches to Nvidia Hybrid wiki. But the 1 click install solutions in Fedora Kubuntu Manjaro Nobara also don't work. Maybe i need bios update for acpi call support.

      "last iso will be late" is incorrect, it's "the next ISO will be late"!
      The new ISO: "Galileo" is out now, and it doesn't make any difference anyhow: It's a rolling release. Updates are made during OS installation if you use the "Online" install option, and if not, as soon as you run an update you will get the very same thing, no matter which ISO you use.
