    Lazy Beds is what the furrows are called and they predate the famine !!! it was typical in areas of poor shallow topsoil, where it was ridged so the soil was deeper to grow a potato crop, they are associated with the famine because that was all the remained after starvation and emigration took its toll. it was a method by which the people adapted to survive and sustain a crop on poor ground.

      That's a great nugget of information, thanks for that. We were born into a very lucky generation indeed.

    So lovely to see the water so calm! Reminded me of a boat trip in the lakes in the Netherlands I made last summer! I hope to do the the same in Ireland in the future. Great videos, keep them coming! Canice.

    That Carlow Class from Carrickcraft squeezed right in there stern-to >< Might have been the boat I had last year! Looking forward to being out again in two weeks time, this time in a bigger boat!
    Love the vids, hoping Lough Ree is this smooth when we're out, attempting to make Athlone from Carrick to meet family, but if the weather is up we won't be crossing!

    Would you mind if I ask a question. Just about to book with silver line cruisers (silver shadow), not been for nearly 18yrs. Are there any bridge restrictions?

    • @DriftwoodBoatBlog
      @DriftwoodBoatBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Diane, I do know that you will be able to fold down the arch and canopy, but I doubt that you will have to unless you head off the main river. But Morgan or any of the Silver Line crew would be better able to advise. Hope you have a great holiday 😀🙌
