Have to agree with stevealigheri comment, that's one fine place to have a holiday home. No problem social distancing there. Another great episode. Well done.
Thank you for making your videos.was down the camlin river on a hire boat couple of years back.have my own boat now.keep it on lough Derg.all the best to you both
Great video. Loved the trip up the Camlin I did back in August. A few tight spots in an Emerald Star Vision however and like yourself just squeezed under the N5 bridge.
Stayed on the camlin River in that exact spot last year one beautiful late August evening but was eating alive with midges lol had to stay inside barge.
It's not easy Arlene, but hang in there. The good times will return next season hopefully. Meanwhile we'll try to supply plenty more virtual boating! Thanks for watching. H&M
Oh me too, did the Barrow many years back and would dearly love to do it again. Never cruised the Royal, but did walk it. Driftwood is too big for them both. But maybe one day I'll get a small barge😃
Fab work on another lovely trip Harry & Marion! Great footage as always. Myself and Caroline are now onto re-runs of the blog 🤣! I have a question for you... maybe you’ve answered it somewhere else, but what are the overall dimensions of Driftwood, especially the air gap with and without the windshield up? That bridge on the Camlin looked narrow and obviously the other bridge was very low! Thanks as always. Looking forward to your next post Warmest regards, Pete & Caroline. ❤️
Hi Pete & Caroline, Glad you're enjoying the videos, the earlier ones are very rough! Driftwood's airdraft is 3Mtr with the screen up and about 2.5Mtrs with it down. Our water draft is just over 1Mtr. Hope that helps. H&M
Nice trip! If you wanted to do all of the Grand and Royal canals what is the height of the lowest bridge. or in other words whats the maximum height your boat can be? Air draft I think its called
Hi Frank, yes air draft is the correct term, and as far as I know the lowest bridge is in Spencer harbour and it's 2.1Mtrs. But check with waterways Ireland to be sure. 👍
Another great video. We had a wonderful week long trip from Banagher back in September. Seriously considering buying our own boat now but confused about where to start looking. Any tips?
Hi Shane, sounds like you have the boating bug! Check apollodock.ie but also as many boat yards as you can. Look at loads of boats to gauge what you will get for your budget. It's always a good idea to get a survey done on any boat you're serious about. Best of luck. H&M
Hi guys, Im planning on doing a similar trip along the canals soon, but not in a boat....in a paddle board! camping along as i go, do you thin this is possible? recommended ? tips?
Hi Mark, yes certainly do-able. Check with Waterways Ireland, some sections were de-watered for winter maintenance. They also have charts of the canal that would be very useful. With the right planning you should have a fantastic trip 👍👏
Sorry Harry but I have got to mention that the purple onion in tarmonbury is probably does the best steak in Ireland and it’s probably better than most in the uk
That house on the lake!!! 😮 Heaven!!!
Isn't it just. Last time I was there it was just a small wooden fisherman's cottage.

You're so right about that cottage Gerard. It would make a fortune as an AirBnB. Thanks for your comment. H&M

Ye the Camlin is a great spot, but those midges are a pain 👍
Thanks guys, enjoyed that little spin .we can't get up to our boat ,
Since we live in Dublin it's virtual boating for us for a while😣

Where is the island at 1:27? It looks amazing
Ah, now it's off Lough Forbes. It's not on the navigation channel, you have to go through the gap in the reeds to see it.
Hello Harry and Marion,we are now in Enniskillen.
You are so far but so near,we want to keep you as our friends
Hope you guys have a great holiday. Stay safe my friends. H&M
Im twitching to do the Royal or the Barrow
