      I didn't add the Mercedes G-class and other small arms in order to make the video shorter :)
      I chose to include only the "heavier" weapons.
      And I notice that the number of the majority of equipment varies according to different sources.
      But in general, with all the armies in the world, the majority of the numbers are relative.
      I am from Romania, so I will give you a Romanian example.
      Officially, the Romanian Ministry of Defence doesn't make public the numbers of its military equipment.
      For example, on paper, we have hundreds of tanks, but logically, because the vast majority of them are old almost useless T-55s or TR-580, many of them are not in working condition.
      So it is practically impossible to put the exact numbers of weapons in this kind of videos, this generally applies to all the militaries regarding some of their equipment.

    To @Defence Database a few corrections. I will start with the Tanks. 44 tanks + 3 MLBT are already being modernized plans are made to modernize all that are now in service and the models are t 72/A/M1 and M2. The numbers of IFV is off, especially for MT-LB and BMP-23 they are more. As for the APC the project for new is not cancelled it will continue with the two companies but the lack a new government is preventing the process to continue we are talking about 150 + . The M1117 are 17 + The Sand Cat are 25 not 250 there are 300 + Mercedes G-class. New 3D radars will be acquired which will the be first step of replacing the existing AA systems. The Migs are 14 not 15 out of 20 the rest is ok but not all are flying the L-39 only 6 are being used also TWO more thing. 4 New Zlin aircraft are going to be delivered buy the end of the year and a contract was signed last year for 96 New MRAP vehicles with SAMRAM they will be build in Bulgaria. Overall very good video the best and most accurate I have seen, there are other things in use in the Bulgarian army but info for then is hard to find.

      @@DefenceDatabase Two more things: The potential new (used) submarines are the Norwegian Ula class submarine and the possible APC that was mentioned but nothing more is IAG RILA 8x8 IFV. The submarines is a BIG IF but until a new government is elected everything is on stand by.

    • @DefenceDatabase
      @DefenceDatabase  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@andrestander110 Thanks again! I was aware of the potential Ula submarines purchase intention, I also have an article about it in work.
      On the other hand, I didn't know that Bulgaria is taking into consideration IAG Rila 8x8, so thanks for mentioning it.
      Regarding further purchases of Bulgaria, it's all about the budget and the way the programs will be prioritized in the years to come.
      For now, money will be invested in the completion of the F-16 Block 70/72 program and also the ordered OPV 90-based corvettes, plus other things.
      Romania is in the same situation, we pay a lot for Patriot and HIMARS and the other programs will be basically on hold for some time.

    • @andrestander110
      @andrestander110 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DefenceDatabase As for the priority I can tell you that apart from the F-16 Block 70/72 and the First two OPV-90(two more are the second phase) The other two program for new APC and 3D new radar are a BIG priority. The urgency for new radar is very BIG and I will not be surprise if it get pushed ahead and be done in 2023. There is a growing urgency for more rapid modernization of the army and will not be surprise if a lot of new equipment is purchase. The money are not a problem, the problem is which one is to be done first.

    Some corrections:
    There are probably no T-72M2BG in service (or maybe even in existence). Bulgaria operates T-72M1, T-72A, T-72M and T-72 Ural plus their own modernised variant. There are about 90 MBTs in service, not 160.
    No BMP-30 is in service. The BMP-1s of the Bulgarian army belong at least partially, maybe even completely to the BMP-1P model. The BTR-60PBs of the bulgarian armed forces are modernized to the BTR-60PB-MD1 standard.
    Bulgaria operates 17 M1117 in the Guardian and Commando Select variants.
    BRDM-2 is not a APC but rather a reconnaissance vehicle.
    Bulgaria received merely 25 Plasan SandCat, not 250. Most of these are used by military police except for some (at least one) which serve with police special forces. Most of Bulgaria's Humvees are not fully protected. Bulgarian special forces started to receive IAG Guardian this year. 98 vehicles of this type were ordered.
    The number of artillery pieces and MLRS in service is probably much lower than depicted in the video.
    Bulgaria does not use T-12 guns but rather MT-12s. These are not used in their original role but instead as artillery pieces.
    The Bastion missile complex is out of service as it was compatible to the few T-55AM2Bs Bulgaria had which were exported in the 90s.
    Bulgaria does not operate any 9K35 systems. Their Osas belong to the 9K33M3 model.
    Strela-2 is still in service and probably the most common MANPADS in the inventory of the army.
    You did not mention the large number of support, transport and engineering vehicles in service, just to name a few:
    MB Zetros, MB Actros, Tatra 815 8×8, UAZ-452, UAZ-469, Zil-131, Ural-375D, Pinzgauer, PMP, TMM-3, TV-62, TP-62, BLG-67, BAT-2, BAT-M, MDK-2M, PZM-2, ATS-59G etc.
    Pauk-Class is not a missile-corvette, it is an ASW type. Bulgaria classifies the Pauk-Class simply as corvettes.
    The tripartite-class is a class of MSVs, not simply minehunters. In addition to those, Bulgaria operates 3 Project 1259.2 'Malachit' and the same number of Project 1265E 'Jachont'. Nowhere near 17 minesweepers.
    You failed to mention the large number of support ships of the Bulgarian navy, comprising of small transports, a training vessel, a diving boat, hydrographic vessels, tankers, a rescue ship, tugs, a fireboat, motor- and workboats, a patrol boat and RHIBs.
