For anybody who is considering this. A full straight pipe with a cat less down pipe sounds really good and these engines just have a deeper sound then a normal 4 cylinder. It is incredibly loud and the cold starts are absolutely insane in the winter. What I did was weld a flange to the stock muffler and also had a straight pipe section made so if needed or wanted to have it a little quiet for a road trip I could easily and quickly bolt the muffler back on. With the muffler bolt on the car is still loud and sounds really good under load but quieter while cruising. For most that would be perfect.
This may sound dumb and a lot of people don't know this. But the timing of the valves is controlled by oil pressure with all the vanos shit. I never knew that And cold oil makes sense now the stories of cold start sound
@@MatthewGill-nv4tb yeah when the vanos solenoids get dirty they effect cold starts and general running nod the car. They are easy to clean and or replace.
Just straight piped my 2011 mini r56 and it sounds incredible you would never expect that sound to come out of a mini it pops and bangs in sport mode Everytime you shift or let off the gas went from the stock 2.25 to 2.5 pipe with 3.5 outlet tips best mod for the money only cost me a grand total of about 160 bucks
It's loud dude. Highly recommend a downpipe and resonator along with the straight pipe to get a balanced sound. Or a hybrid loud valve setup or something.
I've got the same monster. Really need to do this. Is there a video of rolling her out on the road a bit? I like the rhaspy sound too! Thanks! Liked, and subscribed!
I have same r56 with n14 and its roughly 200hp and its with catless downpipe and straight pipe to the muffler and sounds good but i want it to be a bit louder and wondering if remove the muffler and put 2 resonators what will happen Is gonna be good or its gonna be too much?
There fairly cheap to get! You can get an R56 like this or an R55(clubman) anywhere from 5-10K USD. I have a 2011 clubman straight piped, I kept my resonator though
it wasn't horrible but overall it was just too loud. But now that it has a Vibrant brand Ultra quiet series resonator, I almost want the straight pipe back... thinking a catless downpipe will do the trick.
@@xx_kisalove_xx - Pause @ 5:29 where his finger is and further up, you will see the Cat. The Cat is in front of the Engine and you can't see it in the video.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I strongly disagree that it sounds like a Honda Civic. It might not be everyone's taste, but it's certainly does not sound like a Honda
That has to be the easiest car in the world to straight pipe. So jealous
Id like the comment, but it has 69 likes, use my comment to like his so it stays nice

did you remve the muffler, res, and cat ? if so how is the drone on the freeway ?
The 2011 has "pops and gurgles" tuned by the factory in Sport mode
@@atlanticlondon1471 In this video we removed everything except the cat in the downpipe and replaced with a unrestricted exhaust pipe
it´s the maximum sound you can get out of a mini cooper!
I find it crazy how I come across this video. I am looking to straight pipe my mini, happen to see your sweatshirt and I am going Stevenson this fall.
Played football there and graduated in 2014/2015. Did their BS/MS in the information systems track. Been a good career thus far.

Brad Wilson thanks for the tips I will certainly look into that!
A resonator will really clean it up but I think it does sound great 👍
@s n He is saying to add a resonator. The stock res was already removed when they pulled off the old exhaust
Never heard a nicer sounding mini lol 😆😆🤘😎🤘
Thanks!
I did a 2.5" catless downpipe, then 2.5" piping catback with an SLP resonator and a Flowmaster FX glasspack on it, still too loud lol.
you need the vibrant ultra quiet resonator to start, then add (or dont) any muffler
How about telling people to unhook the battery before welding on their car to keep from frying the ecu, or body control module.
I've got the same monster. Really need to do this. Is there a video of rolling her out on the road a bit? I like the rhaspy sound too! Thanks! Liked, and subscribed!
I might do a muffler delete on mine. Im really debating it
Is the stock pipe 2 1/2 inches
So that first part is actually a cat? Even though it won’t throw a code, is it technically legal to pass inspection without it?
How could you not include the 2 step from the wotbox I was anticipating that so bad
I have a 118i and I am definitely going to do this fuck it all
Did you guys get stutters when accelerating? I did with mine and I had a magnaflow muffler.
2.5" pipe is huge... Spit is good lube
These and Fiat 500's sound surprisingly awesome. Very similar to SRT4's.
Patrick Krenz I was going to say the same thing in reference to the srt4
U Need to heatwrap the pipe. To stop the echo in the straightpipe
how much does it cost to get the replacement straight pipe the same size as the stock?
mine is full stage 2 with resonator. about to do a res delete and send pipes out that back
