In 1942, Britain's only defense against Japan's unstoppable advances around the Pacific Rim was good humor. Japan had seized control of Malaya, Singapore, the Dutch East Indies, Burma, Hong Kong, and the Dutch East Indies since the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese Imperial Army and Navy were preparing to attack India, the crown jewel of the British Empire. Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo's First Air Fleet emerged, consisting of 300 aircraft, four battleships, three cruisers, and eleven destroyers. The British Eastern Fleet, based in Ceylon, had significant defects, including new carriers, slow battleships, and weak air defense. Vice Admiral Somerville, a seasoned sea dog, was offered as reinforcement for the disorganized and antiquated Eastern Fleet. Somerville divided the fleet into two quick divisions and one slow division to counter the all-powerful opponent. However, his intelligence services were let down, and the Japanese intercepted his plane and took the crew hostage.
On Easter Sunday, the Japanese attacked Ceylon, aiming to discover the Eastern Fleet of the Royal Navy confined to port. Commander Mitsuo Fuchida led the attack, which resulted in the loss of seven fighters and fifteen Hurricanes and four Fulmars. The British navy defended Ceylon, but the Japanese quickly overpowered the British resistance. Captain Augustus Agar of Dorsetshire, a Victoria Cross recipient, ordered his cruisers to increase their speed to locate the lost vessels. After a series of bombings, the Japanese cruisers Dorsetshire and Cornwall were hit by the bombs, causing the warships to sink. The British were left with wreckage, whalers, and life rafts in their wake. Fuchida praised the naval air force's victory, but surface line police in the area were uncomfortable with the naval air force's strength. The naval air force's victory marked a new era in sea power, as the naval air force had sunk two formidable men-of-war in their motion.
The survivors of two British ships, Paladin and Panther, and the light cruiser HMS Enterprise, were saved from drinking water. Admiral Somerville went south to evade the Japanese, but was unable to battle them during the day. Nagumo, circling to the east of Ceylon, planned his next move. On April 6, Somerville approached Addu Atoll, but was far from the covert facility. Ozawa's raiding force targeted British merchant shipping in the Bay of Bengal, sunking twenty commercial ships in less than 48 hours. Churchill chose to deploy the four R-class battleships to Mombasa, Kenya, and station Warspite and the two fleet carriers in Bombay to safeguard important commerce routes off East Africa. Nagumo launched another attack on Trincomalee, causing destruction to British harbor and shore installations. The RAF attempted a retaliation, but had little chance against the Japanese Zero fighters. The assault on the British carrier Hermes and HMAS Vampire resulted in the deaths of seven ratings and Commander Moran.
Fuchida's troops regrouped after a successful attack on Hermes and Vampire, resulting in the sinking of four enemy planes. The hospital ship Vita helped survivors gather up, while the remaining Japanese aircraft scanned the area for potential targets. The Ryujo carrier sunk the British Sergeant tanker and the corvette Hollyhock, causing minimal physical harm but alarmed the Indian leadership. The raid into the Indian Ocean ended with a victory for Japan, but it was criticized by Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Nagumo retired his task force to prepare for upcoming operations, including the Coral Sea and Midway attacks. The Japanese propaganda apparatus thought the victory was fantastic, but the British Eastern Fleet remained operational and undamaged. The Japanese raid on the Indian Ocean diverted their large carriers and pilots from their main objective, the United States Navy. The Americans realized they needed a stronger, faster, and more balanced fleet to defeat the Japanese. Nagumo's task force defeated the emperor's adversaries without causing any paint damage to their warships' hides.

Who or whatever is narrating this event needs to seriously work on their pronunciation and sentence structures.
