Originally from Iceland, she now lives in the US with her husband and sons. And she’s going to tell us all about her quilt journey.

Dear Karen, Thanks for having Gudrun on. Those of us who follow her know what a rock star she is. Thanks also for all of your other great interviews!
I recently got back k from a 10 day Caribbean cruise with her. What an amazing experience! We worked on 2 Stripology patterns, with a room full of quilters from all over the globe. Gudrun and her husband are genuinely kind and caring people to be around and get to know. So many lasting memories were made during that adventure, that I’m looking forward to doing it again in the future!
Going next year! Can't wait!
Although I am new to quilting, this month is my 1yr anniversary, I have already bought the Stripology XL & the squared mini. I LOVE THEM! They are game changers! I have miserable arthritis in my hands that caused me to stop crocheting several years ago. Finding my creative outlet through quilting has been life changing for me. Adding the Stripology rulers to my toolbox has made it even easier on my uncooperative body.
Thank you for this interview Karen. Hopefully anyone else out there with arthritis will see your interview and learn about these great rulers.
I found Gudrun and GEDesigns during the pandemic and became a certified GE junkie. I have all her books, rulers, and other patterns. I have learned so much and definitely straddle both worlds, engaging in her encouraged rebel behavior. ❤❤❤❤❤

You are Gurdrun are my 2 favorite people as I started quilting in 2019 after retiring.

I truly appreciate every interview you have done. This interview with designer of Stripology ruler reminded me to learn how to use this tool and so I did at 6am this morning. My mind was blown away😮 with sprinkles 😁… It was so much fun and super easy to cut my binding strips… Thank you, Karen!
When my favorite LQS closed, I followed a favorite employee to GE. Discovering Gudrun and their massive library of teaching videos for patterns using stripology rulers has added a new dimension to my quilting.
I think Gudrun is a genius. I found her through Daniella’s (Cozy Quilts) recommendation when she was doing a pandemic quilt-a-long, and I’ve done a couple of Gudrun’s quilt-a-longs as well. Love her rulers. Great interview!
Great interview. I had seen the Stripology Ruler demonstrated at my quilt shop but thought it was soooo expensive. Then they were moving to a larger store and were having great sales and I bought the XL ruler. I love that darn thing! I prefer cutting my own fabric vs. buying so many precuts because of the price. It does take a minute to make sure you have everything folded nicely and flat the ruler does the rest of the work. It helps with very accurate cutting.

The Quilts of Iceland book is wonderful!! Great quilt patterns and recipes as well as gorgeous photos. It is a real treat I’ve read over and over again. Gudrun has great ideas and her Stripology rulers save so much time.
Love Gudrun’s designs. I have all her books, patterns, rulers and many of her stash builder bundles. I’ve participated in all of her QAL’s and watch her weekly.
This was terrific, Karen and Gudron! I have the XL and Squared Stripology Rulers and love them both but I'm sure I don't use them to their full potential. I subscribed to GE Designs YT channel so I can learn more about them. Karen you bring us the best interviews--thanks!

I went to Gudrun's booth at QuiltCon 24 and actually got to speak to her. She was very pleasant and answered everyone's questions very patiently. I took advantage of their sale and came home with two rulers. Where have they been all my life!? Thanks for a great interview!

Congratulations on your stripology ruler Gudrun. I have heard about it but not seen one used. I follow Tinna in Iceland with her beautiful mosaic crotchet. I think it's out of need to be able to make quilts and blankets for warmth.👍♥️🇦🇺

i believe i purchased one of your first stripology ruler. i didn’t use it for a few years after purchasing at road to california. i LOVE the ruler. for cutting same size strips like boarder, binding, etc. wonderful!!!!

I've been looking forward to trying my new Stripology ruler! With my ADHD, i struggle with processes that require multiple steps because my short-term memory isn't great, so I get distracted easily. Cutting strips is ROUGH--even though it's the same thing over and over again, I always lose my spot any time I have to move my rule. 😅 I'm so glad this exists!

I don’t know where I’ve been but I’m not familiar with Gudrun. That is about to change. I recently bought a used June Taylor strip cutting ruler and I love it. I will look into her rulers when I am ready to upgrade.
When you do watch her videos.
Never heard of Gudrun or her rulers. Checked it out. Outrageously expensive. I will not spend that on more rulers. Love the quilt displayed behind Gudrun and intend to copy it without using her rulers. I think she named the pattern 'Billy". I'm surprised that so many quilters are willing to pay for these even if they are as wonderful as advertised.
Money spent on a good tool that you use all time is money well spent no matter what the craft
My time is valuable. The time I save using the Stripology ruler more than makes up for the small investment on this ruler. I can save 2/3 of the time in cutting. My time is valuable. I cannot afford to spend time using less efficacious methods. The ruler, therefore, is very inexpensive to me.

Karen, Gudrun is an excellent teacher I have done a couple sew alongs with her always learning. I had her square ruler for quite some time and really didn’t know how to use correctly. Now It is about the only ruler I use. I would urge you to get one or two. You want be sorry.

I always recommend the Stripology ruler. It is a small cost for the amount of time you save (2/3rds) and the amount of accuracy you achieve. My time is expensive; fabric is expensive; this ruler is cheap as it has paid for itself many times over. Now, I'm way too cheap to spend money on BlocLoc rulers.

Have you watched her video on how to use the XL? She explains how to line up your fabric for a perfect strip every time. I haven't had an elbow since!
