After watching this video, will you start a blog, podcast, or TH-cam channel in 2023?

TH-cam is where I plan to start in 2023. Thanks for mapping out the pros and cons of all three platforms so clearly. Your channel has helped me beyond measure. Happy New Year!

You've got me thinking about starting a TH-cam channel- again 😆 Would you recommend copying the audio from TH-cam videos and transferring it to podcast platform? Thanks, Fiona (Brisbane, Australia)

I did podcast/radio/music related video and nothing got traction (since 2013) they where just all the same content repurposed… I opened a blog on newsbreak and its incredible how much people prefer my text only news there more

As an artist, TH-cam is my medium of choice. I also use Substack as a blog and a way to build an email list and connect with like-minded souls; it appears a lot of like-minded souls who love long-form content actually hang out there too.
For me, the two go hand in hand. I send out monthly letters that also include the YT video. I've started to turn my YT video into podcasts as well that get integrated into Substack for the people who don't wanna watch the video.
As an artist, content creation is not my primary driver. Rather, my art is. And I build the content around that. I know I am in it for the long haul so I've found a rhythm that works for the life I am creating. It may be slow growth but I find, whilst I'm experimenting and finding my feet, I don't mind the slowness of it. So I guess you could say I utilize all three and make it work for me without burning myself out. Thank you for the pros and cons list.

Thank you so much! I have a business now that I want to tone down and offer a Blog or TH-cam. I started a little blog on my website. But really want to almost go exclusively to a blog/YT on where I want the business to go. I have a hard time just starting.

I haven't watched the video yet, but just wanted to say, this is perfect timing! I just started working on my new TH-cam channel yesterday. Also considering a blog and a podcast because, why not? When making YT videos, I start by writing a script (well, actually, I start by doing hours of research, but you know what I mean! lol). Then, I record a video.
My thought is, the script can be easily converted to blog post text. Images used in the video can double as images for the blog. The recorded video can easily be converted to an audio file for a pod cast.
Can't wait to hear what Rachel has to say. 😃

You nailed it! I touch on all of those points while talking about how to repurpose your TH-cam videos for other platforms and mediums. I hope you find the video useful, and wishing you all the best with your channel in 2023?

Great content and advice. I was going to say I was more confused on what I wanted to do but you answered it for me when you asked “What are your strengths and what do you want to commit to doing because it’s a commitment.” My strength is writing. I’m also an avid Lifetime TV and LMN movie fans, but I enjoy movies period. That’s where I’m struggling on which to write on. Any advice there?

I do feel TH-cam is more tiring but the visual helps. Sometime i put subtitles or summary in words + visual that helps people to understand more. Especially i have pronunciation problem on certain words. And yes we can also cut the video to put on instagram reels and even tiktok

I'm actually thinking about starting one a TH-cam channel with my son almost like a late night show because I'm going to sing and then play some comedy similar to an online Jimmy Kimmel LOL I don't know if that makes any sense. Any input? I appreciate you sharing this, if you could let me know what you think about that also I don't know if that's exactly what I want to do I have so many ideas so like how do I mirror down do I have to have one topic and that's the type of podcast where I am or sorry TH-cam where I am. Cuz I know that you can go on TH-cam and watch a podcast I do it all the time. I have all the stuff I bought the camera I bought the green screen I bought the GoPro camera I got the light that goes on top of my selfie stick etc etc so I'm all good to go I also have all my instruments to my house as well my piano my keyboard my guitar all the type of stuff. I just don't know what I want to do exactly, but I want to do it with my son-in-law because he is got a gift from God I have three children and I'm not just saying that my sonis the best singer in the world that all I'm just saying that my out of my three children and none of them got like an extra like thing that they're so so so so so so so so good at and it just came naturally. My older children are both of them they like different things and they moved around and do different things, but my younger son has always wanted to be in front of the camera. What are you doing now I'm just monitoring it's nothing but I didn't announce that on January 2nd we will start our TH-cam channel which are ready to do that it's just I'm having a hard time now after listening to everything you said I'm definitely going to subscribe to you thank you. And I just don't know if that will kick it off I was actually going to kick it off at the show start singing the keyboard introduce myself and then introduce my son and then say a couple funny things between each other and then maybe bring somebody into her I don't know what kind of know but I don't know I mean I have a degree in marketing management. But I'm still confused because I'm 45 years old so I had kids are young my oldest is 22 he's in the army I miss him greatly, my second child is a girl and she is 19 and a half years old, so they're both adults but they never got like that God giving gifts to anything well I've been performing since I've been 3 years old I mean I don't even get scared when I go on a stage because I mean the only memories my whole childhood I was performing I think at 3 years old I had like a huge show tap dancing on stage. And I had singing lessons and I had piano lessons and then I had drama lessons and Peter lessons etc I was almost getting ready to go get a masters in performing arts from NYU even though I live in florida. Regardless marketing management when I graduated from college in 2002 was completely different then what is today and that's what scares me. Any input on that please let me know I will be extremely grateful I truly find you completely intelligent please do not look at my son on the page I'm going to delete it I let him play around for a little bit I watch the video before he posted it don't worry. But he was just playing like a little kid on there he started like when he was like 7. But he has this gift then I discovered when we were driving to Tennessee from Miami Florida and the radio is on not that loud and all of a sudden he was about six and a half years old I heard him started singing a Justin Bieber song I almost passed out, I don't want to push him to sing something else or anything like that I just wanted to see what he would do with it. Now that time has gone on he has 10 years old and his voice is just beautiful, now I kind of feel old doing this but the thing is the first part of my life was raising my children. I was a single mother to my two older children because unfortunately their father that was currently my husband at the time unfortunately is no longer with us today. So for my 22 year old son went to college and then right after he wanted to serve his country. And he went ahead and enlisted he graduated from boot camp in November I'm extremely proud of him. I don't know why I'm going on about him but anyway so I'm trying to say it's like I'm not just saying my son has a god-given gift because I have another son that doesn't so I have a daughter that doesn't but he does and I hear it like he can listen to a song literally and then take the song he hears me playing on the TV or he hears something I'm playing hillside next to me go behind the keyboard and play the exact same notes as a song without having any music in front of him without having any professional training it scared me. He just keeps getting better and better but he's so into this game stuff and Xbox and this crap and that crap but I don't want to push him too hard but he does have that gift. And like I said I don't want you to think I'm just a mom saying oh my son has everything he's got everything he's the best , because I have another son and have a daughter they don't have this god-given gifts. But there are still both amazing kids LOL so I don't want to push him too far away that he doesn't want to do it. Because I started pushing him and getting him into it more and more and then he took a step back and further back away and for the back away and for the back away he's only 10 years old I started talking about music and teaching a music a little bit I want to play an instrument but just getting him into singing and stuff like that because I heard that voice and he pushed me further and further away and I'm listening to these old recordings of him that I taped and I'm like oh my goodness somebody needs to hear this somebody needs to hear this voice. But is he too young for me to continue to push him or should I push him at all I don't know I'm so confused as a mom you have no idea. Well you might have an idea you have kids I don't know? But if you do maybe you understand what I'm trying to say regardless hopefully you can answer some of the long questions in this long paragraph That was supposed to be a comment and get back to me I would be so incredibly grateful if you did . I'm sure you're extremely busy and you probably won't be able to maybe when you read this I don't know but if you do like I said I listen to a lot of videos but you seem to know exactly what you're talking about you get right to the point, out of everybody listen to after listening to you for about literally a minute and a half I knew I had to reach out to you. The page that you're saying it's just my son messing around as a kid he's older now. But he's still playing around he's a 10-year old boy that's what they do but this talent unremarkable so I said listen let's start a TH-cam channel together he's extremely excited about that. So maybe I can take it from there I don't know any suggestions at all I will be forever in your debt and so grateful God bless take care Jennifer [ goes by Jenna Marie. ] God bless I hope you hear back from you I truly do, cuz it's all new to me like I said I have a degree in marketing and I feel like it's useless because the internet made it that way but here's the thing my son has a gift I want to share with the world I think it's I don't know how to explain this other than to say like some people work every single day their butt off to learn how to sing to learn how to stay in pitch to learn tone to learn range to learn everything and he just has it naturally so like I don't want him not to use something that he got just by chance he was blessed so I was thinking TH-cam channel with him together I could get him singing on there with me maybe I don't know I don't know I'm a little confused as a mom but anyway I'll let you go play your back from you once again God bless and thank you so much I did click subscribe. ❤

Hello, thank you for this video and the great information shared. I am an international award winning author for my hkstorical fiction novel - Daggers Of Treason, for which I have researched extensively. I am now on the verge of starting a TH-cam channel, but I am a dinosaur with all things digital! I have definitely enjoyed your video and hope that I can discard my apprehensions and get on with a TH-cam channel. Wishing you great success with your videos. Warm regards. Niraj Srivastava, India.

This is the dilemma. I like listening to podcasts, don’t want to make one.
TH-cam is probably best because they’ll be adding the podcasts tab sometime soon, so you can have basically all of this on one platform.
