    Merci beaucoup Kristian pour ce joli petit reportage très sympathique : il est donc clair que les nouveaux modèles 2024 de XC40 sont très bien conçus et ont subi une réelle évolution technique bénéfique. Ça serait super si tu pouvais faire le même test avec la version MY2024 XC40 Extended Range ! C’est ce que j’ai commandé en janvier 2023 et j’adorerais savoir quelles sont ses qualités, performances et autonomie ainsi que qualité de recharge (vitesse et courbe)… d’avance je te dis merci et encore bravo !!! A bientôt… JF

    Always love the scenery Kristian. Personally, I am a fan of Michelin Climate 2 All Season Tyres ... in the UK without the weather extremes they have been the best tyres I ever put on a car in 45 years of driving - both on my Jaguar and on the wife's Mini Cooper AWD. I come from a long line of LR, Range Rover & Discovery with a lot of towing. They have been excellent on snow/ice/wet grass & light mud tracks as well as stable at 140mph on a warm day in Europe. My XC40 Twin has Pzeros which are good in the dry and rain but rubbish on snow/ice. So, in the UK we really only need to have one set of tyres and All Season suits that ... but if I lived in Northern Europe or USA where there are longer snow Winters I would have 2 sets of wheels with Winter & Summer tyres. It is just down to the location and average weather.

    • @ojeskog
      @ojeskog ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you tried separate winter and summer wheels? I've lived in the UK the past 18 years having moved from Scandinavia. And I'd say my tyre needs don't differ much. I put on the winters late autumn and the summers come spring. Works a treat. Sure, I use continental studless winter tyres instead of nordic studded ones, but that's about it. Most of my fellow drivers have no idea of how well tyres should grip in cold wet conditions, slush, snow and black ice. And in the summer the wheels are also great! The biggest problem in the UK is the logistics that the country is simply not set up for storing a 2nd set of wheels or tyres. But I've always sorted it out in all places I've lived.

    • @mdshovel
      @mdshovel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ojeskog I would have to buy 4 extra wheels and 4 extra tyres ... and, as you say, store them somewhere. Summer tyres are no good below 7degC and we don't get long enough bad cold winter weather to justify full winter tyres. So, one set of All Season works for me in the Summer and below 7degC in the Winter with enough grip on the snow and ice that we do get for a short time - in fact, only had 2 days of snow this last Winter

  • @Hj-tg6sc
    @Hj-tg6sc ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks Kristian! I totally agree with you about your statement on the sh*t tyres. I drive a 2023 model with Michelin all season. It was not possible to buy the car with summer tyres. I'm sure that those tyres also have a negative effect on the range in summer.
    It's always a pleasure to watch your video's. Greetings from The Netherlands.

    Great video(s) Kristian, my only issue is that most people won't be buying the twin motor version due to the high comparable cost of the twin motor vs the single motor. TH-cam is full of test drives of the twin motor versions. I'd personally like to see more videos of the single engine, rear wheel drive which I know it isn't on general release yet. Nice clear videos and comprehensive descriptions - well done.

    Would like to know if you've experienced any of the 2023 and earlier XC40/C40 problems? Thinking of the vibrations around 100km/h and the scraping/chattering noises from the drivetrain when you floor it. Thanks for your help.

  • @timob.6570
    @timob.6570 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thx for the test Kristian!
    Frankly, I‘d expected even less consumption (compared to the MY23 as you said, it‘s just 1kWh/100km better). The figure 16,2 itself is great though, I rarely see anything below 17 on my C40 Twin MY23 even while city-to-city driving.
    Your comment on the all-season tyres, is that specific to the brand/model, or generic? I have Michelin CrossClimate2 on my C40 an I like them (but I don‘t live in an area with much snow)

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 🙌 Yeah.. maybe it could be lower. I'm suffering of a heavy right foot sometimes. Will try a softer approach next time 😂 but 16,2 aren't to bad with one mountain pass.
      Oh I don't like all seasons at all. Generally. They are compromising in order to get decent qualities in a variety of surfaces. Pure summer tires are better. My biggest con with these are that I experienced much more aqua planing on wet roads compared to high quality summer tires. And I'm still getting proper winter tires so why do I need these.

I collected my Volvo C40 Twin Ultimate in March 2023 and I knew it was a good bargain, as I missed all of the improvements of the 2024 model. I am interested how is the drive feeling and acceleration of MY24 vs MY23. How different dual motor setup afect driving and acceleration? Constant AWD vs. intermiettent AWD. That was my biggest concern when I was making a choice between MY23 and MY24. Range is not most important thing to me, I am pleased with MY23 Twin range. That would be also more intersting in the snow season, but on the wet road there should be notable differences. .

    Thanks for the video Kristian, it seems that you were able to manage to squeeze in 221 km in the second part of the trip with just a 33% of battery consumption (with a favorable landscape I´m assuming), that would suggest you can really squeeze in the +600km on a city/inter-city setup which is great!. Couple of questions: 1) would it be possible to test leaving the battery down to 0? just wondering how many km you get out of it once you reach 0. 2) I saw the google maps integrated map suggested a level of battery for your destination, did you find that number to be accurate with the final number?. Thanks! (Also, did you use the One-pedal mode for the trip?)

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah the consumption really dropped towards the end. So I almost want to do the test one more time 🤣 Could definitely drive it further down, but just stopped now out of convenience. With a nice place to stop and also charger next to it. The first estimation was 380 km. So was quite off, but eventually it got closer to the actual distance. Didn't use one pedal. Don't like it, and it actually doesn't offer any benefits regards to consumption.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh.. That's a good question. For me it would depend how much I drive on a daily basis, and if I think I needed that extra 100km of range. I can charge at home so I really don't need it. But I drive much daily so at least I don't need to top charge every day. Also worth thinking about winter. Then the range drops significantly. With the MY24 I still got decent range for my use. We had a long, cold winter here. But that's for me. Economy are also a point here. If they are priced really close then I would wait

    Excellent range but lets be serious. Took you over SEVEN hours and an average speed of less than 70kph. Next time walk, you’ll save even more. Sadly at more normal long distance/highway speeds (120-130) your consumption will be around 24-25kw and your range maybe 300-320.

    • @Redsquirrel007
      @Redsquirrel007 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@volvo_kristiani was obviously being sarcastic about walking… the point is that kind of driving conditions are only valid in Norway . Anywhere else such long driving / slow speed is unrealistic (unless you are very unlicky and constantly in congested traffic). If you want an international audience, you need to try to simulate real world highway speeds. Away from gorgeous fjords and desert mountains you must have stretches of higher speed roads, for example simulate a drive towards Gothenburg, and go at least 110 kph. That should make your range melt. Not possible? Get inspiration from competition like Bjørn Nylan..
