Removing Rear Springs - Peugeot 305 Estate/Van

- How to remove the rear springs on a Peugeot 305 Estate or Van (this also will apply to the Citroen C15 Van).
A special tool is used to compress the springs, because of the design of the back axle ordinary spring compressors will not work, there are some examples on the internet of other ways to remove the springs by making up tools but luckily i spotted a spring compressor on ebay and bought it, the cost was split between myself and my cousin who is also restoring a 305 van.
As my daily job is working in the drawing office of an engineering company i drew up the spring compressor in Solidworks, the parts are also saved as DXF files so you can possibly have them cut out with a plasma or laser cutter. The link for the spring compressor drawings is here:

I am stripping down the back axle to completely refurbish it, when the car was driving it made a plethora of noises, from squeaks to loud thumps over bumps so the best thing to do will be to replace all of the bushes, and bump stops, aswell as the shocks which seem a bit soft now. I also plan to get the axle sandblasted and possibly painted or anodised depending on the cost.

This is the information I was looking for since I need to change the rear shocks on my C15. Do you know if it's possible to do the job with just a normal spring compressor?
Hi there, no this needs the correct tool. An ordinary spring compressor will only grab one side of the spring which will just fling off. Although ive read and heard about some interesting but dangerous sounding bodge jobs to try and get these springs out. I have the drawings available if you want to make one of the spring compressors up.

Hi, its hard to buy this tool as they are rare now, i found this one on ebay a peugeot garage was closing down.
Can you see my drawings ok from the video description? It would be quickest to find an engineer to manufacture it.
Perhaps join the 305 owners club forum, C15 page, citroen owners club and ask on there. I run the Peugeot 305 UK & Ireland owners club facebook page, join it but answer the joining questions. I also know that club peugeot UK, its a paid for club but as part of it they offer a service of renting out dealer tools and this would probably be one.
However i am guessing by you writing in French that you are in France, i would assume that finding Peugeot parts and help is easier than over here?

Parfois, les roulements des bras vont mal, mais l'essieu arrière est partagé avec la Citroen C15 et très similaire à une Citroen BX qui peut être utile pour l'approvisionnement en pièces détachées.

It was a peugeot dealer tool, i bought it on ebay, they are hard to find these days. However if it helps i can send drawings and CAD files to make one from.
