So being a union operating engineer I have no idea why operators get paid more than mechanics. I’m impressed every time I watch them work. If the machine don’t run it’s not making money and all I have to do is show up with my lunch box and a fully charged cell phone and these guys are rolling around in gear oil and have to buy thousands in tools and work in all weather. Being an operator I support mechanics making more than me for sure.
yes because machines will run forever and never need maintenance oh wait they have about a million general use wear points that need replacing. @@anthonygarcia8632
Honestly after working 60 hours this week as a CAT mechanic, I have no idea why I come home and watch other guys work but here I am. Get after it fellas! Cheers from SoCal
Just realized that this video was posted all of an hour ago, I was looking in the recommended for PART 2, guess I'll have to wait. That's what you get for grabbing my attention while doing homework. Love the vids y'all.
I have good days and bad days my goal is to be as motivated as these guys on a daily basis. Mental health is real, take care of yourselves before burn out. Its a tough climb back up hill. Thanks for the videos.
HUGE THANkS to ARC asphalt. For letting the camera crew in to film. Great job loopCam. Garth fawking nailed the repair on cams snowflake removal tool. Now it’s got some strength to it.
These diag videos are true mechanics work, being able to work through problems / decipher what the fuck the operator is complaining about is the hardest part of the job in my opinion. Thanks for the videos!
I’m a commerical refrigeration service tech and I can relate to this style of work, long hours and sometimes you gotta get shit up and running no matter what
Carson gone? Just subscribed recently. Love seeing inside these yellow paint machines, we get way more ag&turf stuff at work than construction. By orders of magnitude. Resealed one wheel motor on a skid steer, and that’s it, I’m hooked. Love what I do. Always learning. Thanks Tekamo and thanks Garth.
I love working in the shop work at a strip mine for 15 years Moorpark California everybody at the lunch table all talked about what they were all doing at lunch time everybody was happy and they were into their work it was a good time 25 years ago
Most difficult job I ever did was a cat mh 370 engine and main hydro pump swap on a barge in the river in January it was brutal plus my service truck was probably 1/8 mile away up the hill so anytime you needed a tool it was a 20 minute trip
Awesome ! I can’t wait for the next episode ! As a diesel apprentice myself it’s very good to watch well explained videos to help me remember things better
How has using the air tools treated you Cam? Been waiting to hear an update on that. Also kind of coincidence watching a engine rebuild Mike I too did a Duetz rebuild this week for an air compressor. Keep bustin them knucles Gents!!
Amazing work as always! Thank you FortisHD for sponsoring the best heavy duty content out there! I always learn something new that I know I'll get to use at some point in my apprenticeship! Ya'll are the best thank you
Thanks Garth! Thanks to everyone who puts together these videos, I love watching! I am attending school to become a HDET and these videos have lots of great tips and tricks. Keep it up!
Huge credits to the equipment owners like Garth that let us film and fortishd.com/ for sponsoring the series and helping keep it alive. Awesome to hear you're in school for HD. Best of luck man, you picked the best career path.
I am a grumpy old man and not a fan of John Deere common rail engines, I like the old timed injection pumps with the pencil injectors. I know they use more fuel but they are so much more reliable.
Bacon say what they want but that smell is the synthetic oil that wears out and when it wears out it falls off the map in the day we use 85 140 and we had way less failures I remember working on trucks that had 500,000 miles in the rear end oil and probably only been changed one time is the oil did not stink like wore out synthetic oil which only lasts half as much time
@@TekamoHD just trying to help the mechanical world keep spinning. I see you have snow there as well, we have had snow for about a week in my area of Alberta. Seperates the men from the boys out in the field ya know
Great stuff guys!! Really enjoyed this one 👍 sucked that ring was being a pain but cool to see you guys over come and modify that tool. I have a drawer full of stuff like that.Love that puller set ive got one just like it from OTC they are must have for sure.Keep killin it boys and thanks Garth!!
Back to the rebuttal of Union mechanic versus Union operator it is true the union mechanic has to buy all the tools and do all the shity work but the contracts for some reason do not we get 35 cents an hour for our to allowance one ranch cost 50 bucks you add it up how long it's going to take to pay for that wrench or broken sockets because the companies do not care or supply have a nice day
Very nice video bro i wish i get more of it am really learning. Actually my job is mainly lubrication changing of oil , filters and greasing for heavy duty machines and trucks. Am also looking for new opportunities out of where i am.
Cam is like a modern day rain man trying to figure out the issue with the ECM. Thanks Garth, for hiring special needs people! We need a chance just like everyone else.
Mate the CAT 950G loader with the sticking bucket fault , what was the cause of any of that? And the heating grid start feature on the machine that had the final drive rebuild , what was the outcome of that ?
We don’t rechrome them 9 times out 10 we get a new rod if it’s pitted real bad we do a lot of concrete work so they mess the rods up all the time on the minis
i need me on of those big chooch air hammers bud. When are you gonna make me an ambassador so i can sell ten of them to my coworkers. I work for a concrete pump company with 20 mechanics. Let me get one!!! at least at a discount!! i can sell them!
Help us get more SERVICE CALL episodes out by buying TEKAMO merch or the tools you see being used in this video! tinyurl.com/FortisHDTools

You only need the mechanic if you suck at operating ur machine or if something breaks in my opinion
@@anthonygarcia8632well yeah 😂

@anthonygarcia8632 even with a perfect operator.... the machine will eventually need a repair
Depends on where you work with that little detail about the pay…or the mechanics on your jobs have been lying to you 😂
