    This video was very informative and unfortunately I purchased the SoClean before watching this video. During setup of my so clean and having trouble setting it up, I call the SoClean manufacturer and they gave me disappointing news that the SoClean was not compatible with my CPAP machine, I have a Luna 2 CPAP machine. Fortunately I was able to return it to CVS where I had purchased it from and received a full refund. Now that I have done more research as well as watched this video I am going to try the Lumin, also I realized that ozone leaves a a clean swimming pool scent on the mask and whatever else the ozone cleaned. Thank you for making this video, super helpful.

    Big advantage to the SoClean is you can pre-set the machine to run automatically. So when I get up in the morning, just put my mask into the chamber and shut the lid, SoClean starts up about 10am (that's when I have it set to run) and cleans everything while I'm at work. Before bed I wipe my mask off with a CPAP wipe and I am good to go. I also use it to clean my travel CPAP (Z1) before and after I travel. SoClean has made it so much easier for me to use the CPAP, since it's cut my washing of all my tubing and mask to once a week. I've been using it everyday since 2017.

    Keep in mind there will be additional costs with the SoClean system. The SoClean system will cost you an additional $60 per year to maintain it. The SoClean replacement filter and check valve kit will run you $30. Twice a year.
    As for The Lumin, it has no parts to maintain so there is no additional costs.The UV light will last the lifetime of the machine with recommended use.
    SoClean has a 2 year Limited Warranty and The Lumin is 2 years as well with only 1 year warranty on the Lumin Bullet.
    Also be aware that not all full face masks styles will fit in the SoClean system based on other consumer posts I have read and that “ozone”or O3 causes discoloration of the silicone on face masks.

    I've had a SoClean since they came out years ago. It got rid of a allergy problem I developed since using a cpap. I believe that because it sanitizes not only the mask and hose but the actual machine, it is the one to choose. The Lumin doesn't sanitize the machine.

    • @endykun

      The machine itself doesn't need cleaning really (despite what they tell you) and if it does, your provider or manufacturer would need to take it apart to do so. With warranty invalidation from ResMed with ozone cleaning, I would not consider a soclean.

    Have they improved the lid clasp on the SoClean? Mine broke after 3 months of use. Their solution was to return it and they would fix it for almost the cost of the machine! I opted for a large book to hold the lid down. It worked fine until Hurricane Harvey hit and destroyed my home. as a disabled veteran, I cannot afford another one (or will not) until they fix the lid closure properly!

      @RespShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Preston, I am very sorry to hear that this happened. We at RespShop understand these machines can be an investment and understand that it can be truly upsetting when they do break. As far as we were aware this is not a common issue, but as with any mechanical parts, things can break down. However, SoClean should have a 2 year warranty should the machine become faulty in that time period. If you purchased this unit from us please email us with your order number (sales@RespShop.com) and we will look into this matter more thoroughly.

    • @asommer518
      @asommer518 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the entire air flow system is cleaned as the machine circulates Ozone through the machine, hose and mask in a closed loop system. The mask sits in the closed tank bathed in ozone for the three hour dissipation time. I set mine to run everyday at 10 AM and its ready and waiting when I go to bed. VERY easy with no action on my part other than to close the lid. I've had mine three years and love it.

    If you have a ResMed Airsense 10, and use the heated hose, the bullet won't work. Buy and use a standard unheated hose and don't use heated air feature, then you can use the "bullet" can pass through to clean hose.

    FROM THE RESMED WEBSITE --- ResMed has observed that prolonged and repeated use of an ozone device may eventually cause internal damage to a ResMed machine, leading to an increase in motor noise. The ResMed limited warranty excludes damage to ResMed machines caused by use of ozone devices.

    • @RespShop
      @RespShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Dave, Thank you for pointing this out. At the time of the video ResMed had not yet released this statement, however earlier this year ResMed stated that any ozone device could cause internal damage. We have yet to see this statement from other manufacturers so we cannot fully validate if this is true or not. For now we are just recommending ResMed users to use the Lumin & Lumin Bullet, since they use UV light, instead.

      SoClean uses Ozone which whether in its pure form or mixed with other chemicals, ozone can be harmful to health. When inhaled, ozone can damage the lungs. Relatively low amounts of ozone can cause chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and, throat irritation.

    the Lumin Bullet as they found it does not do an adequate job of sanitizing the tube. I wind my tube up and fit it in the drawer. You most likely have to do the cleaning in shifts.

    Do both of these machines work with the ResMed Air Mini and ResMed P10 nasal pillows? And since the Air Mini does not have a water reservoir, is it important to be able to clean the hose or machine? Since I have asthma, I'm inclined toward the Lumin as being potentially safer than the SoClean but will it be equally effective on my equipment?

    • @lonestarjacket
      @lonestarjacket 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SoClean sells an adaptor for the Air Mini. It is a simple widget to attach the robber hose directly to the tube and then you put the mask in the chamber attached to the other end of the tubing. Since it only works on the tubing and mask, I presume you could do the same with the Lumin (just sanitize the mask and tubing.) The actual Air Mini device is out of the equation.

      Thank you for watching! UV light is used in hospitals to disinfect surfaces and the air. It's also used to disinfect drinking water. You are right to be skeptical though as you need a certain wavelength of UV light (UVC light at 200 to 280 nanometers) for the best bacteria and virus killing results.

      Hello D, You are still able to use the SoClean with COPD, however you have to make sure that you let the machine finish it's whole cycle to use it. Essentially there is a filter inside that absorbs the Ozone once it's done cleaning. As long as the machine finishes pulls the ozone back into the filter it will be completely safe to use.
