10:00 this is so valuable to the act of creation, to understand that you need to steer clear from long conversations and the "thinky stuff" while in the pressurized environment. Do it beforehand to your heart's content and spend years on it, but if you think while you're actually making art it means you don't like or trust something very important.
Its so amazing hearing that top tier directors once struggled so much to perfect their craft and a lot of respect should be given to their passion and drive for the art of film 😊🙏

Care about what you are doing. It is your motivation. You need to be motivated, very motivated. Every shot you plan and make is a life decision choice. Love to prepare. Communicate. Over prepare. Be flexible. Have a Director's book, notes on how you want a certain scene to go down. Everything about filmmaking is when you turn on the camera. Prepare, rehearse. Dream up, talk b4 your very first shoot. Treat everybody on set like a filmmaker. (Note to self: talk and figure everything out in preproduction. Coach, explain everything then as when you do that on set it wastes time. You're job as a director is to get the best performance out of your actors. Blocking: When you're blocking, imagine the scene going on in your head in that chosen location, but be flexible as actors can change stances/positions. Editing: 3 ways to make a film.
