Great pod as usual, just one suggestion I thought I'd raise for the weekly pods. How about a section at the end where you answer one/a few questions from the comments/from social media on the last weekly pod (could be anything e.g who is your favourite rider from ____ country?, what is Benji's favourite pastry?). Could be a nice way to increase engagement and also help fill time for when we reach the off season.

Imo, Lotto doesn't deserve the criticism. They could have just stayed with De Lie in the bunch but he was the only one able to follow Pog on the last attack, so Pog would've soloed to the victory. De Lie would've had a better finish, probably top 5 at least. Bling and Bini had a strong sprint but I think De Lie would be up there. But you can't criticize a team for trying to win. They tried to follow Pog and they were all cooked. They couldn't attack, because they didn't have the legs, and they tried to set a strong tempo to keep the peloton away and sprint with De Lie but the legs were gone, the peloton caught them and that was it. They did what they could but didn't have the legs

Dear Patrick and Benji, thanks for the great podcast as always. For your upcoming WC preview just a small note about the course you might want to consider:
At 16km of the city circuit there is a section of 250m at 7.5% in the profile. But it actually ramps up to 18% (around 13% for 100m). Its too short i guess to make a difference but the entry from the downhill is tricky single file, and combined with the plateu and another ca 500m at 7-8% (also with a pinch up to 13%) and than straight into a long downhill, it might be an overlooked launching pad.
Keep up the good work! greetings from zurich

I was able to go to Quebec and Montréal to watch in person! (Thankfully they are in driving distance.) What a great time!!
Thanks for the podcast! I appreciate it even more now that I am a caregiver and can't view all races.

I think this year Vuelta startlist could be good for next Giro. Otherwise Vingegaard againt UAE "superteam"expect Pogacar might be interesting or Pogacar. I think Pogacar and Vingegaard can have an agreement that they both do both courses and that be increase their status regarding entraitement.

I'm pretty sure Vingegaard at some point has said something like he would like to eventually try to go for the Giro, and the Vuelta, it doesn't all have to be about the TdF, that is not the only big stage race in cycling. But is it next year? Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is pure speculation, he has been at home with family for a while now, and just very recently got his second child, so I doubt he has shown up for any interviews in the last few weeks.

I have heard you guys countless times mentioning that Primoz racing is boring, what I would like to know is that you think the way Pogi or Jonas racing isn't boring? GP Montreal for instance, he solo'ed the last 22 km. Strada Bianche 2024 he solo'ed god knows the last 80 km?! Likewise, Jonas and Remco win mostly in a similar fashion.
In my humble opinion, Primoz racing is way more exciting that these guys. 🤷‍♂️

    • @adrianbuck8772

Roglic loves to win a race by outsprinting guys on the last meters on an uphill finish an getting bonification seconds for it and to rely on his good ITT abilties(Bonifications and ITT ably to GCs otherwise its just outsprinting at the end).
So basically the GC version of an pure bunch sprinter which wants to have everything controlled until the very last meters where he can show his ability.
Remco and Pogacar attack whenever they see on good chance to make an difference.
For me the best stage of this years Tour de France was the Gravel stage because it had the most GC action and felt the least predictible, due to Remco and Pogacars willingness to attack.
Also their aggressive style of racing opens up the the race. GP Montreal for instance means an way more action after Pogis attack (Alaphilippe,Bilbao,Jorgensen+Aranburu/ Jorgensen dropped, Bilbao dropping the 2 other guys, field catching Alaphilippe+Aranburu, attacks in the field to snatch 3rd place...).
I prefer guys which are capable and willing to open races farther out.

@@adrianbuck8772 I agree with all you said except that by opening the race I believe you were referring to opening the race for the 2nd to 10th position 😬 TDF and Giro were so boring this year, especially their final week

@@torontocycling Off course i was referring to 2nd to 10th place.
The only reason why the Vuelta was more exiting this year than the Tour or the Giro was that Roglic and his team had Ben O Connor getting 6 minutes in an break away so he had to get out of the out of his comfort zone and attack earlier.

Sorry but I hate it that we have to say "x-rider" is going to win worlds easily. I hate that, I want a race not a domination of a rider, I really hope Remco can compete or that there are more riders coming that can make it difficult for Pogacar, I don't want to watch a race if I know the winner before the start!

LOL they cant afford $1 million to put on a world class sporting event? Now that's why Quebec and Montreal are the only races in North America. Our government will spend 22million to spruce up the park across from the start finish line, to look pretty for the world Championships in 2026. They are going to spend another $870 Million for the third new roof on the Olympic stadium. The first roof was built in 1987 for the 1976 Olympics. Those cities just don't know how to spend money! I actually enjoyed the Giro more than La Vuelta this year idk. I don’t mind seeing a rider just have extreme power and do mind boggling things. Vuelta was okay, but I didn’t think it was that entertaining. We all knew Roglič was winning after the first rest day.
