    I've been counting calories for almost 3 years, and boy was I innocent to think what I was doing was right. Counting calories lead me to eating disorders, emotional eating... you name it. Today was the last day I counted calories, I hope.

    Yes, counting calories does work for weight loss, and yes, it can also lead to eating disorders, I was falling down that hole myself, but before it got any deeper, i managed to save myself from that. I'm 14, going to be 15 next year in February, and just recently opened my eyes about the truth in this.
    For me, personally, it's not as much about counting calories, but about what you eat. If you're counting calories, you're like "Oh, I can eat this as long as I don't pass the limit" it was like that for me, but it causes stress and eventually you fall, so no more extreme diets like those. Instead, making sure what you eat, starting out by trying healthier foods, and you begin to realize "Oh, I love this" and begin turning more towards healthy foods, that's what happened to me. Now I crave healthier foods more than anything else, I'm making healthier options now without the thought that I'm on a diet and being stressed over it, but more like this is my new lifestyle, and I love it, taking better care of my body.

      Hello. I've lose every fat in my body except my belly fats. I lift weights 3 times a day and play basketball. My diet is no sugar, no supplements and alike, and no junk foods, 50% carbs (3 cups of white rice per day which is already low for a southeast Asian), 30 % vegetables, and 20% protein. I'm 22, 71 kg/156.6 lbs. (from 72kg), 5'8". I need to lower my BF% for more speed and explosiveness, and for the sake of abs also. Any advice?

      If it works for you, then you should do it. Most people, however, just can't or are intimidated by the process. Hell, as a diabetic, I'm pretty good at eyeballing my food (measuring), and pretty much know the Carb amounts in common American foods, off the top of my head, or can at least guess in the neighborhood... Yet, I've failed miserably at counting calories, in the past.

    Am I the only one who doesn't mind counting calories? Lol plus I have a 130 day streak on MFP and I can't give that up. I do agree on that when counting calories we care more about calorie content than the nutritional content. I still eat junk food but I decided to only eat fast food 5 times a month. I cut out soda and sugary drinks. I still eat like trash but this is a start. I'm trying to work on eating less junk and eating more balanced meals.

    The best and easiest method of portion control I have ever found came from Body for Life: eat according to the size of your fist, or the flat of your hand. It has never let me down. It's fast, easy and works whether you're a man, or a woman, as your fist/palm is likely to reflect your frame/build size. There is no embarrassing calorie counting, food weighing and other crapola that makes dieting so darn complicated and time-consuming, especially when you're out in public. Whether you're eating three meals a day, or six (with three 'snack' breaks in between), eat a fistful of nuts, or a fist-sized orange, or for a full meal: a hand-sized steak, fish steak, fist-sized potato, and LOTS of raw green veg, as a basic example. Hope this is helpful for those of you who are very busy/live fast/always on the move.

    hey health nerd, can you make a video on, the vegetables and meat or protein sources we should eat for weight loss and healthy living? there are many people like me, who want steady weight loss, and healthier diet, but are confused about how to go about that. a video where you go about what all foods that are available in different continents are best to eat, which all should be more in number and quantity on the plate, and how should we cook it. definitely food that are cooked in restaurants have higher amount of salt and re-used oils. so a guide to the proper preparation would help a lot of people. also keep up the good work and i love your style of video!

    thank you so much for this video. i've tried counting calories in the past, and it really worked, but it negatively affect my mindset and made me anxious about everything I consumed. it was like i was getting healthy physically, but my mental health was diminishing. i'll try these out for sure! i'm working on losing the 20ish pounds that have been annoying me for years! keep it up, health nerd! :)

    I dont count calories anymore, i was limiting myself to eating around 1200 kcal however, when i see that i have calories left over i end up binging on junk food. I just eat healthy filling foods until im satisfied and i use this~
    AM i actually hungry enough to eat a healthy meal?
    NO~ Drink some tea/water
    YES~ Eat a healthy meal
    I have no clue how much calories i eat but now my life doesnt revolve around planning calories or food, instead i focus more on my studies and getting the grades i need. I started doing this after binging for 4 days straight until i was physically sick.

    I would like to add one thing.....keeping a food journal. Not counting calories with it, but writing down what you eat, what it's made of....about how much. You can go by cups, serving sizes, or size on your plate, whatever. But write down how you feel both before and after, and estimate your fullness by percentage or something before and after (like 0%=ravenously hungry, 100%=about to puke you're so stuffed). It helps you become mindful and aware of your food and eating and mood.

    Hey Health Nerds. I've been on Keto for almost 6 weeks now and I'm close to losing 12 kgs of weight. Just this week I found out that I'm not able to lose anymore of my weight. Have I hit a plateau? How long does this last? Is my weightloss primarily due to glycogen depletion and not fat loss? Please make a video about this.

    Tip to differentiate between hunger and cravings -
    If you are wanting a specific food really bad - craving
    If you are just wanting to eat because you need to fill yourself - hunger

    Smart and freeing ive never done calories counting but i hate the idea of doing it so Good!
