- In this not so informative video, you join me on a short drive in the Ford Escort.
This Escort is one of the earliest car I ever purchased. In fact this car has been with me the longest when compared to all the cars under my ownership at the moment.
I have sold the BMW 2002Tii and the Alfa Romeo 1750GTV, but this is the one that stayed. Why?
Well part of it is because it is far from perfect. I tend not to sell my car until I feel like my journey with it is complete. But another reason is simply because the excitement and joy this car brings to me. It can make any drive feel like an adventure and an event.
This is the kind of car the I hope to use more, but I always hesitate to do so. When I finally do, I am always blown away by how direct and raw this thing is.

Such a staggeringly cool car! Here in the UK we absolutely IDOLISE Escorts, especially the old ones. Its a great choice of old car as all the parts are still available as it was such an incredibly popular race car. Great video mate!

Totally enjoyed that. I could almost feel the driving experience through the screen. Not quite as old as the Escort but I get a similar experience when I'm in my modified Integra DC2 Type R, especially around the sea of modern cars on the road with all their creature comforts. I love the Escorts of that Era!

You mentioned your engine is from the Ford Ranger with forged internals - you running standard cams ?
Have you dynod the car ?
Very responsive all the way through which is solid.
I am in the process of installing a 2litre Pinto with a 285deg Piper cam with some engineering done to the head.....
Not sure it will be as meaty as your setup but should be good.
@Italanmo yea it has upgraded cams, makes 190hp at the wheels. Unfortunately I don’t know the spec of the cams because the previous mechanic did not tell me…

Love the look of that engine, it looks stock and sits in the engine bay perfectly! Other than the larger 16 valve heads and larger overall size it could almost be a standard engine. Incredible build!
Does it have it rear tram bars,mate these cars are still raced today,most have cosworth engines
I have a rear panhard rod if that’s what you mean
