Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures online was fun and decent exercise lol. The rest of Kinect stuff was pure shit though. Like someone wanted to hold their hand in the air to start up Gears or wave it about to go on Netflix. Fucking hell.

I feel like the worst part about Kinect is that the camera was actually freaking sophisticated. On top of Full Body Tracking (great for VR), it's camera array enables biometric authentication, as well as hands-free control of the operating system. Too bad it was marketed as a gaming peripheral with the most disgustingly flagrant demonstrations E3 has ever produced.
In the troubleshooting section, the Kinect manual details how to sort out a unruly Kinect. You might have to sort out the lights or “try wearing different coloured clothing that contrasts with the background” if it’s not working right. That’s right, not only will Kinect make you tidy up, it’ll also make you change your clothes.
The Kinect is VERY different for Eyetoy. Eyetoy is just a pretty much a webcam that just sees you. The Kinect has cameras to see your body and it has infrared lights to sense distance and who is who. They are both cameras but Kinect is much more advance.
The guy with the "Alice in Wonderland" demonstration, totally blew it. First he says: - Xbox, pause! it pauses. And then he says - Xbox, play! and the movie plays again. Ok, cool. But then he says: - I don't have to remember which one is PAUSE.. Wait, what? The screen doesn't stop there dude.
Love it when he says "it is here, and it is real" LMAO the technology isnt THAT state of the art, just a minor upgrade from ps2's "eyetoy" which has been out for years

Kinect is an inferior and inaccurate control schemes. Never will I buy such crap again from Microsoft, they better not shove it into the nextbox. Make it fucking optional, I don't want to pay for crap just because I want the next xbox.

@bradleycritchett Yeah dude it's pretty awesome. It's as good as the Wii but without the controller when it comes to accuracy. The games are fun and navigating the dash is awesome. It's a really cool unique experience. Honestly I was very skeptical and thought it was going to be garbage but after I demo'd it at Best Buy I was sold.

The price is actually more then reasonable for what you get. Mainly in the long run. We just set up the gear and plugged it all in. It was a bit odd in a fun way the first few moves but just the intro itself is worth the money, sort of speak. I would rate this product a 9+//10 by range of price quality. Enjoy all.
All I know is that the guy presenting it talked like a robot. I don't say that because of his tone of voice, his ramrod-straight posture, or the weird way he was holding his hands down but still emoting with them as he spoke...I say that because he talked like a billboard, or the narrator for a TV commercial.
I was trying out the Kinect Dance Central game and I was getting hot so I took off my clothee. I had no idea that the game was going to take A BUNCH OF PICTURES OF ME WHILE DANCING WITH NO CLOTHES ON!!! I can go back and look at these pictures but HOW DO I DELETE THEM?!!! HELP!!!!
To be honest, I think Microsoft did better with Kinect than Sony did with move. Not that its superior, just that its different. They actually chose to do something that is different than Nintendo. That is allowing them to capture a lot more of that blue ocean market than Sony has. Although in the long run Microsoft probably should make their own motion controller like Nintendo's and Sony's.
I wonder what that baby will be able to do when the PC gets official software for it. I bet it'll get rid of some lag we've got not with the Xbox (yes, there is some lag and there always will be, atleast for the next few years). And with a lot of PC's being a damn bit stronger then the XBox we could get some aswesome games too. Downside: they'll make everything for the XBox anyway and then just port it back to PC. anyway, I bought my kinect yesterday and I like it. Does need some getting used to

I played Kinect, its pretty fun, but gets old in a day or two. The problem I have with Kinect, or microsoft for that matter is what this represents. Its no secret that xbox has been putting out little to no exclusives outside of their 2-3 franchises they are labeled by. And it seems to me that this is the final nail in the coffin to the fact that they seem to have stopped competing with the heavy gamer audience and now are just bringing in the Wii crowd, sacrificing reputation for more money

Finally played this on my brother in laws 360. Im sorry but this thing is weak. Its feeding off of huge hype because people are so flabbergasted at the idea of gaming with no controller but the truth is its so limited in what kind of games you can play it with that it loses the fun factor in about an hour. I try not to be a fanboy but it appears microsoft has officially quit trying to compete in the detailed harcore games and now is just attempting to cash in with the wii crowd.
I'm kind of fuming right now. I bought one thinking that I'd be able to use it to control Netflix, but Netflix is not in the Kinect Hub. It's not a deal breaker, I think the gaming is super fun, but this was a feature that really added to my excitement about this sensor. I'm wondering why Xbox/Microsoft clearly demos the Netflix feature in this video if it isn't available to me?

I'm going to be forced to get it, or I won't be able to play games that could potentially be enjoyable in my leisure. *cough* EYE TOY *cough* I had one of those for PS2 and now i have the better one, the Playstation Eye, which functions similarly with Gran Turismo 5. Also, a controller is better coz i dont have enough room for this sort of thing. Don't get me wrong, looks fun, but i think it's a bit of a Gimmick, same with Playstatin move, but a bit less. and voice control makes you feel like a freak. i know coz I use it on my PS3 SAVE THE TRADITIONAL CONTROLLER!!!!!

Perhaps, and assuming that the information they have provided about the warranty is correct then Microsoft can and are able to use the device to see what you are doing however it is pretty much all to do with legal reasons as with the stories you suggested about people being arrested. haven't you guys ever notice that a ps3 controller buttons has a X, a circle, and a square that represents xbox 360? X for Xbox, circle for x inside of it, square meaning xBOX How do I know this? Simple, one of the developers told me that, and he even said that the triangle button will be used for something else, apparently it's for advertising, but i didn't know what he meant by that... think it's fake huh? let's see who's right when the next generation of consoles comes out...
Seriously though both kinect and ps3 blow wii out of water. Until wii does something I think it's days of selling 20mil systems a year are long gone. Kinect dominates leg sports (soccer running hurdles, fitness) dance, kicking or running games and is suited for Family gamer. PS move dominates hand sports (archery, table tennis, tennis, baseball, etc) driving, shooting and is suited for serious gamer. Wii is now a step behind on both as graphics are terrible in comparison to either.
"ps3 is a wii copy" lol going from 2-d motion to 3-d 1:1 tracking is like going from old juice to a fine wine. You guys want to see how copying is done watch pirates of Silicon Valley. If that movie is accurate, Bill gates invented copying of technology... Maybe Microsoft should get back to it's roots and make a wii clone too? Rather than just taking a PS 2 eye and adding voice and facial recognition.
I'm all for new technology, and this one does look great. But it just looks annoying. They might be going just a little too deep this time. Sure, there's no controller. But that's a bad thing in itself. It's going to seem wonderful and magical at first, but waving your arms about and talking to your gaming console will become more of a chore than convenience over the years to come. I'm not saying it's a bad idea at all, I just think that it will go the way of the Virtual Boy.

I'm sure i've missed some, and i've played 1000's of games, i currently have at least 300 games... PC games, whew... Countless I've owned every iteration of computer system from the IBM PS1 all the way to my current Windows Vista Computer... I remember when the 486DX 33 mhz computer was THE computer to have to play all the best games on... lol I even design video games...

@jrag1000There is also the whole home entertainment market it can be aimed at amongst other things. I know what you mean about stretching the lifespan of consoles, but this looks like it could have so much potential, let's just hope it is used to its fullest. When consoles fail, it's nothing to do with the hardware. Every good console has had a "killer app" that has made buying the hardware a neccessity. This is why the most successful consoles are not always the highest spec.

@4tknaruto As a fat person who is also a gamer, I welcome this type of technology. I think it's more essential than ever that computer games begin to encourage physical activity. Most of the kids and teenagers I know spend a lot of their time playing computer games. When my generation was young, we used to play outside every night. Now the streets are empty because everyone is playing Xbox. Technology like this ensures children get the exercise they need.

No because that wasn't even on phones at the time that the eye toy was released, no, it is not made by microsoft, and yes, it sold pretty well. Microsoft said this was a never before thing. The "You are the controller" part is what I'm talking about. And the kinect is delayed. Every time I play it, it is 1 second off of everything I do.
Actually Xbox has better graphics for multi-platform games which makes up most of the video games market, in my opinion that's most important. Lets not forget that PS3 has that stupid Cinavia protection which renders newer downloadable HD content useless... As a result xbox 360 is way more user friendly towards media content. so the reviews are in, turns out kinectimals is great fun! lol please this is about gaming, and you cant play real games without a controller. sony passed on this technology for a reason. ill be playing heavy rain, socom 4, RE 5, killzone 3, infamous 2, LBP 2, tiger woods 11, and MAG on the move while you pet cute animals and run your hand through water
wouldn't really think this if sony gaming didn't exist and i wasn't enlightened to other methods of motion gaming but this is a pile of soon to break shit all for £130 that only plays minigames and only works in a large room which is means fail. however i must admt i did quite enjoy playing the ps2 eye toy about 10 years ago for a week or so
@jrag1000 I disagree. All of what you just mentioned were pointless and had no larger application. This enables the xbox to become a very desirable home entertainment/media center. If I replaced my xbox with something newer, I like to think about the fact it could go into retirement with my dad as his media center!
Interesting that the demo was shown with the volume at minimum. Try pausing or FF with voice commands in your home theater in a middle of a movie with the sound at theater levels that so many HT owners use. Especially with action films. I think the voice recognition will have a hard time during those moments. FAIL.

this is an amazing concept that i am still tragically predicting will be useless. they are marketing this thing like crazy, my guess is trying to get huge pre-orders. and once the hype fizzles out and people realise you cant play normal games without a controller you better damn well believe theyre gonna release controllers for this, deeming the sales pitch very misleading

What exactly does Microsoft hope to gain from this? I just think that the PSMove and the Kinect are just slightly copying the Wii , more so with th Move , yet I also think that Kinect is copying PlayStations EyeToy... It isn't as revolutionary as the Wii was IMHO.
@SantinoDude the only thing better than ps3 with xbox is 1. pricing 2. kinect PS Move SUCKS i used it its like the wii all over agian, ps3 has better games (uncharted etc), a browser (xbox needs 2 get on that), being able to connect to wifi without a adapter in the first version, and many more.

i was so hyped when i first saw this but after seeing a few gameplay footage the hype died. I don't want to be running around in one spot, swinging an invisible lightsaber and karate fighting some AI. The only thing i like about this is its voice and facial recognition.

All I know is that the guy presenting it talked like a robot. I don't say that because of his tone of voice, his ramrod-straight posture, or the weird way he was holding his hands down but still emoting with them as he spoke...I say that because he talked like a billboard, or the narrator for a TV commercial.
I was trying out the Kinect Dance Central game and I was getting hot so I took off my clothee. I had no idea that the game was going to take A BUNCH OF PICTURES OF ME WHILE DANCING WITH NO CLOTHES ON!!! I can go back and look at these pictures but HOW DO I DELETE THEM?!!! HELP!!!!

To be honest, I think Microsoft did better with Kinect than Sony did with move. Not that its superior, just that its different. They actually chose to do something that is different than Nintendo. That is allowing them to capture a lot more of that blue ocean market than Sony has. Although in the long run Microsoft probably should make their own motion controller like Nintendo's and Sony's.
I wonder what that baby will be able to do when the PC gets official software for it.
I bet it'll get rid of some lag we've got not with the Xbox (yes, there is some lag and there always will be, atleast for the next few years). And with a lot of PC's being a damn bit stronger then the XBox we could get some aswesome games too.
Downside: they'll make everything for the XBox anyway and then just port it back to PC.

I played Kinect, its pretty fun, but gets old in a day or two. The problem I have with Kinect, or microsoft for that matter is what this represents. Its no secret that xbox has been putting out little to no exclusives outside of their 2-3 franchises they are labeled by. And it seems to me that this is the final nail in the coffin to the fact that they seem to have stopped competing with the heavy gamer audience and now are just bringing in the Wii crowd, sacrificing reputation for more money
Finally played this on my brother in laws 360. Im sorry but this thing is weak. Its feeding off of huge hype because people are so flabbergasted at the idea of gaming with no controller but the truth is its so limited in what kind of games you can play it with that it loses the fun factor in about an hour. I try not to be a fanboy but it appears microsoft has officially quit trying to compete in the detailed harcore games and now is just attempting to cash in with the wii crowd.
I'm kind of fuming right now. I bought one thinking that I'd be able to use it to control Netflix, but Netflix is not in the Kinect Hub. It's not a deal breaker, I think the gaming is super fun, but this was a feature that really added to my excitement about this sensor. I'm wondering why Xbox/Microsoft clearly demos the Netflix feature in this video if it isn't available to me?
Ok lisen the Kinect is pritty awsome and is something diffrent microsoft pulls off but my doughts come where the kinect is going to go same with both sony and microsofts game console are towared a older audience and now there basicly puting gimics of wii sports.I just dought its gunna have good games and what it can do cuz most games are childish on the kinect and it realy cant go far like this so personely i think its kool and all but i dought itle live a long life span so I would not buy it.
@MrNathanTucker It's not just a matter of me not getting it. Sooner or later, all games are going to run on this absurd control system. I'm going to be forced to get it, or I won't be able to play games that could potentially be enjoyable in my leisure. The gaming corporations are setting trends here, just like they did back in the '90s when they ditched joysticks for control pads.

I had one of those for PS2 and now i have the better one, the Playstation Eye, which functions similarly with Gran Turismo 5.
Also, a controller is better coz i dont have enough room for this sort of thing.
Don't get me wrong, looks fun, but i think it's a bit of a Gimmick, same with Playstatin move, but a bit less. and voice control makes you feel like a freak. i know coz I use it on my PS3

Perhaps, and assuming that the information they have provided about the warranty is correct then Microsoft can and are able to use the device to see what you are doing however it is pretty much all to do with legal reasons as with the stories you suggested about people being arrested.

Simple, one of the developers told me that, and he even said that the triangle button will be used for something else, apparently it's for advertising, but i didn't know what he meant by that... think it's fake huh? let's see who's right when the next generation of consoles comes out...
Seriously though both kinect and ps3 blow wii out of water. Until wii does something I think it's days of selling 20mil systems a year are long gone. Kinect dominates leg sports (soccer running hurdles, fitness) dance, kicking or running games and is suited for
Family gamer. PS move dominates hand sports (archery, table tennis, tennis, baseball, etc) driving, shooting and is suited for serious gamer. Wii is now a step behind on both as graphics are terrible in comparison to either.
"ps3 is a wii copy" lol going from 2-d motion to 3-d 1:1 tracking is like going from old juice to a fine wine. You guys want to see how copying is done watch pirates of Silicon Valley. If that movie is accurate, Bill gates invented copying of technology... Maybe Microsoft should get back to it's roots and make a wii clone too? Rather than just taking a PS 2 eye and adding voice and facial recognition.
I'm all for new technology, and this one does look great.
But it just looks annoying. They might be going just a little too deep this time. Sure, there's no controller. But that's a bad thing in itself. It's going to seem wonderful and magical at first, but waving your arms about and talking to your gaming console will become more of a chore than convenience over the years to come. I'm not saying it's a bad idea at all, I just think that it will go the way of the Virtual Boy.

Xbox 360 x 2 first one died of RROD but the system was/is so good it was worth it to replace it...
I'm sure i've missed some, and i've played 1000's of games, i currently have at least 300 games... PC games, whew... Countless I've owned every iteration of computer system from the IBM PS1 all the way to my current Windows Vista Computer... I remember when the 486DX 33 mhz computer was THE computer to have to play all the best games on... lol

@VenomousLegend but what is the most advanced? the eye toy wasnt nearly as hi tech and didnt have voice command AND was pretty shitty and required a lot of light and was really cheep, the wii used a controller and made shitty games, and microsoft isnt unoriginal. microsoft is the more successful than the wii and your PS3 combined. so go play your PS3 and the shitty games that come with it. and say hello to wii, in which your PS3 clearly took the idea of their crappy movement controller from.
@jrag1000There is also the whole home entertainment market it can be aimed at amongst other things. I know what you mean about stretching the lifespan of consoles, but this looks like it could have so much potential, let's just hope it is used to its fullest.
When consoles fail, it's nothing to do with the hardware. Every good console has had a "killer app" that has made buying the hardware a neccessity. This is why the most successful consoles are not always the highest spec.

@4tknaruto As a fat person who is also a gamer, I welcome this type of technology. I think it's more essential than ever that computer games begin to encourage physical activity. Most of the kids and teenagers I know spend a lot of their time playing computer games. When my generation was young, we used to play outside every night. Now the streets are empty because everyone is playing Xbox. Technology like this ensures children get the exercise they need.
for the fat people complaining about not wanting to move and play.it's not like they're forcing you to do it.,it's just another way to play on the xbox 360.you can go on and off from regular to kinect.I'm sure you can sit down and play on some of the games.its got voice command,motion censors,video chatting and etc.I don't think this would be an utter failure like most people think.
as a game maker kinect will be an absolute failure... This is such a waste of money and Engineering time, they could be working on better game concepts not trying to mess with Nintendo's corner of the market. They are giving Kinect away in conjunction with burger king for crying out loud, even the developers have such little faith in it, they have to try to force it on you...

There are pro's and con's to both systems. The concept and execution of Kinect is pretty impressive and cool (one step closer to the holodeck maybe?). Alas, we can only know if it lives up to expectatons on November 4th.
No because that wasn't even on phones at the time that the eye toy was released, no, it is not made by microsoft, and yes, it sold pretty well. Microsoft said this was a never before thing. The "You are the controller" part is what I'm talking about. And the kinect is delayed. Every time I play it, it is 1 second off of everything I do.
Actually Xbox has better graphics for multi-platform games which makes up most of the video games market, in my opinion that's most important. Lets not forget that PS3 has that stupid Cinavia protection which renders newer downloadable HD content useless... As a result xbox 360 is way more user friendly towards media content. TAKE THAT PS3! lol
Am I the only person on Earth that prefers traditional gaming over this motion based bullshit? But it looks like the proverbial writing is on the wall. Motion based gameplay is the future, and traditional gaming is going to disappear into obscurity within the next 3-5 years. When that happens my 20+ plus years of gaming will come to an end as well....:(
@insanecaribou I never really got into either, but I find it hard to believe that kinect is inferior to the eye toy. The public seems to agree. After all, the kinect is selling scads more than the move. I tried looking up a comparison, but no one seems to want to give a fair side by side comparison and just make ass fun of it.

wouldn't really think this if sony gaming didn't exist and i wasn't enlightened to other methods of motion gaming but this is a pile of soon to break shit all for £130 that only plays minigames and only works in a large room which is means fail. however i must admt i did quite enjoy playing the ps2 eye toy about 10 years ago for a week or so
@jrag1000 I disagree. All of what you just mentioned were pointless and had no larger application. This enables the xbox to become a very desirable home entertainment/media center. If I replaced my xbox with something newer, I like to think about the fact it could go into retirement with my dad as his media center!
Interesting that the demo was shown with the volume at minimum. Try pausing or FF with voice commands in your home theater in a middle of a movie with the sound at theater levels that so many HT owners use. Especially with action films. I think the voice recognition will have a hard time during those moments. FAIL.
this is an amazing concept that i am still tragically predicting will be useless. they are marketing this thing like crazy, my guess is trying to get huge pre-orders. and once the hype fizzles out and people realise you cant play normal games without a controller you better damn well believe theyre gonna release controllers for this, deeming the sales pitch very misleading
Kinect is a failure in so many ways..Sure the big advertising campaign will have made many MUG customers buy it..but the thing is seriously flawed..I urge potential customers not to buy this rubbish...wait until 2012 when you can buy it at a car boot stall for £2

unfortunately kinect reminds me of eye toy for the ps2, which was not very fun and went away very fast.
after buying kinect, the wii (which i'vei never played before) seems like a better idea because u can still play real games and use it like kinect at the same time

This is the most fun thing i the world.. Its so damn high tech lol.. The little camera scans your body with cameras and lazers and the microphone can detect your voice. every time i play it reminds me of the kid on back to the future that said "you have to use your hands?!?" lol
Look this isnt for the hardcore players so stop complaining about wii vs ps3+move vs 360+kinect. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.

I'm just saying that because it isn't jut games , it's the proper console attachment , and I believe that's different because currently there are only 3 main househod consoles. What exactly does Microsoft hope to gain from this? I just think that the PSMove and the Kinect are just slightly copying the Wii , more so with th Move , yet I also think that Kinect is copying PlayStations EyeToy... It isn't as revolutionary as the Wii was IMHO.
@SantinoDude the only thing better than ps3 with xbox is 1. pricing 2. kinect PS Move SUCKS i used it its like the wii all over agian, ps3 has better games (uncharted etc), a browser (xbox needs 2 get on that), being able to connect to wifi without a adapter in the first version, and many more.

we have heavy rain move (have played it), the shoot awesome fun, eyepet (my sister enjoys having the controller) and who cares to much about motion controller gaming no offense its good but people prefer controllers and no ps3 does not suck
