I was going all over the place trying to figure out if this was just a controller or a console. The custom made Nvidia Tegra allows it to keep up with this generation, and it's ability to take it on the go also changes the handhelds. This console is a gamechanger.

She asked for the Wii U and they brought out a Wii U inside the box. She said, "Oh no I just want the new controller not a Wii as well we already have one". The employee and my mum did some talking and we didn't end up getting one. At least I have a switch now, 4 years after...

I think Nintendo assumed that because the Wii U has off tv ability, people would see it as a new console because the original wii couldn't do that. But saying "new controller" and not even mentioning "new console" is very idotic. Instead they should have referred to it as "the gamepad controller for the new console". Now THAT would worked perfectly.
They didn't even show the "new console". And all the games shown (except for the Zelda one) looked like they were Wii games. There was no way of asuming it was a new console, neither from the messages on screen or the game's footage. So sad :(

Sir SpeedyCat That's not really my problem with it. My problem with it is that these features of the gamepad that they are pushing in this trailer are neraly useless and are just gimmicks. Do you really need to show that cute parrot video to your relatives? Do you really want to play that black-white puck thingy on it? Do you really want to browse the internet on it? Do you really want to make video calls with it when you have skype, discord, mumble and whatnot, you know, the applications you can use WHILE playing? The answer to all of this is no.
The most underrated console I have never seen. I was one of those legendary people who bought a Wii U and I have no regrets I had such a greats times on Pikmin Splatoon Mario Kart Lego City undervover Wii Party U and lots of other games.
I understand why it failed. They are literally showing a bunch of Wii games controlled with a tablet, so you could be forgiven for thinking it was just an add on for the Wii.

Guys. The Wii U is not a bad console at all. It is actually much better then the xbox One and PS4. It has more exclusives and better games on it then just Halo and COD and GTA ... Obviously it is not as powerful as either of those however, look at all the games that have been released and will be released on it. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Wonderful 101, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3 and then SSB4, both the Zelda Wiii U and Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Bayonetta 2, Mario Maker. These are all promising titles with different varieties of gameplay. What do you get on xbox and PS4? 1st person shooter after 1st person shooter. (obviously slight exaggeration and there are some good games on both of those consoles, but no where near as many on the Wii U). So stop bashing the Wii U because it's getting all the games you want.

I don't want to see it fail but it IS failing, which system is better is subjective. For the childish argument, the wii u is trying to be a family system, something that sits in the living room, that's why because they want younger people to be able to play on it. Focusing solely on a single Gimmick of the new System without featuring the Console and it's Power. There were many downsides when it comes to the Wii U Gamepad. I think, a lot of features showed in this Trailer aren't even possible now. And the Gamepad feels much more uncomfortable and chunky compared to the Gamepad featured in the Trailer. This was Nintendos first mistake includng calling the Console Wii U.

I remember when this trailer first came out, and was like “Man, now I can take a dump and play my console at the same time” I realized I never ended up doing that
Wii U was awesome, had a lot of great games, amazing ports of old games and paved the way for the Switch. But even I have to admit the marketing for it could have been handled a lot better. It was marketed as an add-on to the Wii and not a brand new console, the fact it has Wii in its name confused a lot of people and even that it’s shown playing Wii games must be head scratching, considering you can play Wii games, just without the controller. I’m so glad the Switch fixed that marketing train wreck, but I feel sad that the Wii U couldn’t realise its true potential.
I do still think that the Wii U's concept is geniuos. It was just poorly shown to the people. I love the Nintendo Switch's concept, but imagine playing Splatoon without the map on the second screen... I will miss it. Too bad this idea died with the console.
It's hardware based so no update can add that feature. There's dedicated hardware in the Wii U that makes it possible in the smooth manner that it runs.

I was one of those legendary people who bought a Wii U and I have no regrets
I had such a greats times on Pikmin Splatoon Mario Kart Lego City undervover Wii Party U and lots of other games.
i have a wii u i use it every day got me through many hard times
they all have it's switch version but nothing compares to play in the gamepad, especially nintendo land

Guys. The Wii U is not a bad console at all. It is actually much better then the xbox One and PS4. It has more exclusives and better games on it then just Halo and COD and GTA ... Obviously it is not as powerful as either of those however, look at all the games that have been released and will be released on it. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, The Wonderful 101, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3 and then SSB4, both the Zelda Wiii U and Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Bayonetta 2, Mario Maker. These are all promising titles with different varieties of gameplay. What do you get on xbox and PS4? 1st person shooter after 1st person shooter. (obviously slight exaggeration and there are some good games on both of those consoles, but no where near as many on the Wii U). So stop bashing the Wii U because it's getting all the games you want.
Okay I managed to read every single one of these comments, this is going nowhere. When a person leaves the argument another takes their place, just as angry as the last these wii u fanboys are seriously annoying, it is a flawed system. I don't want to see it fail but it IS failing, which system is better is subjective. Now there were also people arguing mute points against the wii u, it being childish or every game being a remake Being the main 2. For the childish argument, the wii u is trying to be a family system, something that sits in the living room, that's why because they want younger people to be able to play on it. About everything being a remake, this is pretty much true and is one of the faults (a big one) but they do kept things fresh (for the most part.) Also about people insulting Destiny, the recent dlc have been MAJOR improvements and have really shown the potential of the game.
I want wii u to succeed, but I don't think it will.

Only now, right before the NX Trailer is coming up, I realize how utterly stupid this Trailer was. Focusing solely on a single Gimmick of the new System without featuring the Console and it's Power. There were many downsides when it comes to the Wii U Gamepad. I think, a lot of features showed in this Trailer aren't even possible now. And the Gamepad feels much more uncomfortable and chunky compared to the Gamepad featured in the Trailer. This was Nintendos first mistake includng calling the Console Wii U.

Wii U was awesome, had a lot of great games, amazing ports of old games and paved the way for the Switch. But even I have to admit the marketing for it could have been handled a lot better. It was marketed as an add-on to the Wii and not a brand new console, the fact it has Wii in its name confused a lot of people and even that it’s shown playing Wii games must be head scratching, considering you can play Wii games, just without the controller. I’m so glad the Switch fixed that marketing train wreck, but I feel sad that the Wii U couldn’t realise its true potential.

I do still think that the Wii U's concept is geniuos. It was just poorly shown to the people. I love the Nintendo Switch's concept, but imagine playing Splatoon without the map on the second screen... I will miss it. Too bad this idea died with the console.
