I am definitely not selling my EIT.UN, I am happy with the 9% yield as long as it's share price holds steady, which it has for the last 10+ years or so. The 10% yearly performance on the fund is crazy good
10% is not much these days, EIT and DFN, they should not be content and change based on market condition, way too many funds these days that are far better than EIT and DFN.
@@g59490155 Hahahah10% is not much these days? What? Yield doesn't even matter. But it's easy to understand, only reason why it's popular. How can 15% yield be sustainable? Answer: it's not. There's no free money.
I mean 10 years is rather short for long term investors. With the leverage in EIT it wouldn't be surprising if one day the share price drops to 8$ like it was at some point. Having said that, EIT.UN seems to be super well managed and is one of the only leveraged etf I kept. I'm actually hoping for some growth like a lot of analysts. Sold all my CC ETFs when I realized it was all a smoke screen.
Adrian, been watching your channel for a long time....I am very surprised by this move. For me it is about steady Eddie vs high fliers...keeping my steady Eddie.
Canoe won’t go on Adriano channel so sold it off and is no longer his bread and butter LoL All jokes aside I’m keeping my EIT fund asI love this holding
Selling your winners to buy some shitty high yield fund with ridiculous total return like wtf haha. at the same time I'am selling some high yield funds and adding to my position eit.un which is exploding the other funds and ... Total return is not even close for the other funds compared to eit.un. To each their own strategy I guess.
Great video. I'll keep my EIT. After losing my dividends on a few split shares, I've been looking for other alternatives to invest in. I'll invest some of my dividends is some of these ETF's
my EIT pays me 12.5% .. keeping .. and happy with the mix and i have a huge capital gain in EIT which one day i have to realise .. considering my tax options at some point
great video. I will keep it, because it is one of the oldest high yield funds with a large asset pool. I am not that comfortable investing newer funds.
I find this an interesting move, but the reason provided for this move leaves me with a huh? If you have other ETFs in your portfolio that were not doing as well as EIT.UN, but you held on to those ones and sold EIT.UN instead this doesn’t make sense to me from a total income return perspective. Also the fact that you bought several replacements for a single EIT.UN tells me you probably don’t trust these new investments as much as you did EIT.UN, otherwise why wouldn’t you have just replaced EIT.UN with just one of your replacements, the one with the most return? So I am wondering if maybe there is more to this story than what was in the video.
I use my EIT. Un for the stability and the consisten income. I use the income to reinvest into others YTSL, EQCL ,HPYT,BKCL and the OTHER Horizon funds 😁.
Starting to wonder about your content? Don’t get me wrong I love your detail insight and analysis, but I am starting to wonder if you are now just making trades so you have new and exciting content. You have sold out of many rock solid positions in the last while, leading me to believe the whole buy and hold philosophy is out the window
the answer is no. i make moves to better my portfolio, not for more content. if you need a refresher on what i feel the PII strategy is all about i suggest you watch this. people take BUY and HOLD way too literal ....th-cam.com/video/X49VVTDx2qQ/w-d-xo.html
Yes, but US dividends in a Canadian TFSA -must consider the withholding tax and the currency conversion impact. In a TFSA, Canadian equity gain and dividends are all yours to keep tax free. For people that don't already know this -it's a consideration when thinking about US dividends. And steer clear of any US stocks with "limited partnership" (LP) in their name. You'll be getting even more held back (something like 30%) and receiving a love note from the bank on behalf of the IRS wanting you to set up an account through a specialized accountant (costs about $600) to get some of your withheld dividends back. I'm amazed EIT's price has been so stable for so long with great dividend. Some of my split shares have never recovered.
Adrian your reasoning makes PERFECT sense as to why you sold EIT.UN. Whenever I see a substantial capital gain with a high income holding, my thinking is precisely the same as yours, to use cap cains to boost income further. I have that same dilemma with HTA right now, and it's a nice problem to have. Thanks for the usual great videos.
You sold 80k and purchased 73k........... other 7k went to cash? But anyways I LOVE the move. I sold my EIT.UN a long time ago for better opportunities. You purchased all the holdings I have in my TFSA except I don't have any GDV anymore (sold that a long time ago because of the high premium to nav). In my TFSA YTSL is my top holding followed by BKCL, ENCL, HDIF, HMAX & USCL. I plan on increasing my USCL holding in the new year.
Adriano you said at the start of this video that you sold your position in Canoe eit but as an inner circle member you already know that. I am part of that circle but never got an email saying that.??? What Day did you send that out on? I searched all folders and never found it. Dan
I swapped my EIT.UN shares before the market went down, I still watch it and will buy around 10%+ yield. Swapped DFN as well but bought back at 28% yield which will start paying in Jan. 2024!
I feel you friend. Have had the same problem consistently for months. As Adrian has suggested : 1. Avoid very long posts. 2. Avoid controversial statements. I also avoid using hyperlinks. I think I triggered YT censorship because I have been critical of the Giant Panda Governing party in previous comments. If you have something important to say, let Adrian know, and he will try to unblock your comment. I also regularly use the Feedback feature to tell YT to stop censoring me. Will it work? Who knows, but I take time to write comments and should be able to see them post. Good luck and Merry Christmas.
Hey Adrian will you still try to get EIT fund manager on for a video Or is it near impossible as it was a pleasant surprise when you got CI fund manager for a interview.
I sold EIT about 4 weeks ago ... better options these days. Edit: revamped my portfolio 3 weeks ago and now making over $2000.00 Cdn per month with an additional move this coming Monday that'll bring in another $600.00 per month.
Thanks Adriano! It makes sense since you have had this EIT.UN for several years now & it was a nice capital gain Since I’ve only had this one for the last 6m I’m holding on & added % allocation to this Great balance to grow my portfolio while getting great income 🙌🏼

@basseon you don't like leverage, you don't like CC, then what do you like? I can't understand ppl like you who complain about everything.
I just added to my EIT position. I think it is a great fund.

Odd move from my point of view.

Your EIT was giving you better Yield than HDIV, HDIF, and RS. Are you planning on selling any of those ones?
no

IMO,
EIT is better fund than the Brompton ETF's
2 billion in cash for EIT.. largest fund in Canada... I agree, it's a great fund

Look into TFSA in Canada or Roth IRA in the US...
How many shares did you buy?

Exactly! No reason to sell. It's stellar!
Gosh, I'd say if we looked at your portfolio in 2020 and compared it to now, there wouldn't be any from then in it today.
well yeah , if you can make your portfolio better and more efficient wouldn't you?

I am thinking about buying EIT now. How many shares did you buy to get a reasonable dividend? I hope you respond 🙏🏻

@@PassiveIncomeInvesting Sell EIT.UN (40k) ENS (40k) Buy USCL (31k) BKCL (5k) ENCL (25k) HDIF (5k) GDV (5k) YTSL (2k). Sorry but numbers just jump out at me. ps - I'm one of your biggest fans 😊
Same here. I sold all my EIT.UN. Bought less volatile index funds.
bro, I thought EIt was your bread and butter, gold standard fund. are you going to selll off more of these types of funds?
well im always looking to increase my income and streamline my portfolio
Thought the same. Agreed
I thought for sure it would be EQCL.
nope! a video on that coming up

I sold EIT months ago. Great holdings but 9.5 percent yield doesn’t cut it anymore. Inflation.
I bought more USCL and BKCL.
As long as those high yields are actual income and not return of your own money.
Pls share what gives higher yield and consistency and stability like eit? Pls share
miss the days of passive income investing...
I sold my EIT a couple months ago. Now I only have ESPX and ETSX in the income portion of my portfolio and I couldn’t be happier.

well that's an easy one. you can probably guess
EIT boring in s good way 🙂 I agree 💯% with this move, its true; important thing is increasing the income.
Increasing income with return of your own capital?
