  • Here we go to Japan's MOST FAMOUS Bamboo Forest! This Arashiyama Kyoto travel vlog (2022) explores Japan's iconic bamboo forest in Kyoto's neighborhood of Arashiyama! Arashiyama is a must-visit neighborhood full of many attractions. We visited the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Tenryu-ji Temple, Togetsu-kyo Bridge, Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama, and even a hidden foot bath onsen at the Randen Station.
    There are many wonderful ways to immerse yourself in Japanese culture here. We drank local matcha at this lovely family store - it was truly an unforgettable experience! There is a lot of different Japanese street foods to try such as Pickles, croquette, and ichigo daifuku. At the station, we also saw musicians performing the shamisen and the koto. There are so many wonderful things to do and experience in Arashiyama, Kyoto!

    Great vlog like your other ones on the Gold Pavilion. This was very informative and you have a nice easy-going flow, which makes it very interesting and easy to follow. I was wondering approximately how long you'd say you spent walking along the Bamboo Forest path and also in the Monkey Park....just trying to make sure I leave enough time to see the sights.
    Since my first trip to Japan is coming up, I also had a question on how to get to Arashiyama from Kyoto since i got different directions. You mention getting on a "Tram"? Is this a local train. I was told to get on a JR Train (the Sangano Line) on Track 32 or 33, and then get off at JR Saga-Arashiyama instead of the Randen Arashiyama Station. Based on this, it seems like I'd need to walk several minutes through some local streets. Did I misunderstand amd this is the same route that you recommended or is this a different route? Any pros/cons for either route? Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks, Ron

      Thank you again ron! I think we spent maybe 1 hour in the Bamboo forest, but we definitely took our time and tried to explore as much as possible. We probably spent 1.5 - 2 hours in the monkey park (including walking up/down the path).
      To get to Arashiyama, we took a local metro from Gion and then had to connect to take the Randen Tram to Arashiyama. The tram did seem to be a local train, as many locals were using it and there were many stops along the way. I would recommend the tram personally, and I really like the Randen Arashiyama Station that we arrived at. Based on my own experience and looking at the map, either the JR Saga-Arashiyama or Randen Arashiyama Station would work great. I would just use Google Maps to see the suggested route when going from Kyoto to Arashiyama. Hope you have a great trip Ron!

    That strawberry dessert looks tasty! We HAVE to visit that bamboo forest one day. Cool matcha class. Tell that monkey to put some pants on! We like eating all of the potatoes.

    thank you for sharing your experience, i will visit next month, may i ask is the foot onsen warm water and how many minutes can stay?

    • @WanderlustWellman
      @WanderlustWellman  ปีที่แล้ว

      The onsen is warm water, and you can stay as long as you like - but if it's relatively busy, it's probably best to not stay too long so others can use the space too. Have a great visit!

      Thank you so much for watching! We started around 10 or 10:30 back in November of 2022. It was definitely more busy later, but I think it wasn't very busy because this was very soon after Japan re-opened for international tourism.

      @@WanderlustWellman The video is nice ... but bamboo forests are very common in Asia. I saw lots of those in China. But if someone hasn't seen it before, then Arashiyama is a worthwhile visit.
