Wow never cut walnut yet. We have it all over the place in my area. Got my eye some. I’ll remember to put something on the end to keep from cracking. Thanks!
Tape measure! It was right under the box of files! Maybe that file review got tabled but some of us are still waiting for it. I know, it's a lot of work.
Getting ready to order a 372 or 395 to support my firewood business so looking for advice. I know a 372 will be adequate, but curiosity has me considering a 395… In NC mountains, 100% hardwood production ranging from 12”-32”
Do you have a local dealer you can actually buy either of those at, both are now discontinued and the 395 has been made in brazil for a while now(in case you thought it was still produced here in the states. What saws do you already have. A 70cc saw should be more than sufficient.
@brettblack7049 has the knowledge & experience to lead you in the right direction. Get yourself a 372, the get it ported or slightly modd'ed so if you need the extra power you'll have it.... and at and/or around same price as 395
@nuts319 and that dang front tensioner 😩. I consider the 394 a 2.5 series saw, and the 395 a 2.75 series saw, they never made it into the 3 series lol. I liked the bee 5hat checked out the camera right when you said you were going to get us a closeup, that was really neat 😀
There are two standard lengths...20' and 40'. Container ships rail carriers hate odd-ball sizes so the rail and steamship lines have settled on 20s and 40s.
That seems like a nice job eyh ? Is it flat even?? I,m on a fairly flat piece, dont know how to behave ! I think one leg was growing longer from tramping them mountains of green county lol 😂
some fancy sawing. I never knew about the iron clamps. Thanks for sharing.
Nice logs Pete!! The veener buyers will say a little on the sappy side, always have something to say. LOL

I use the fletchsavers too, driven way too many of them into walnuts for my right arms liking, lol. they do a very good job keeping the logs together

Pete great video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
Nice walnut Pete good luck with the veneer buyer
IDK if the work better then truss plates but they look better and are easier to put on! Hopefully the right buyer does you right on these beauts!!
I always wondered how those ties worked.

@jerseyjoshua4818 thanks man.
How are you.
A 395 is awesome but a 372 will be more than enough. 395 is a lot heavier

What you call truss plates, we call gusset plates.
@7:42, is that sawdust or weird sapwood?
Dust

What is that frame next to the logs, Pete?

@@nuts319 That was my guess but I wasn't sure.
😮 kayu yang sangat bagus
Do the mills ever forget about those and accidentally trash their sawchains on them?
Petee said he used plastic.
@@obxkoastie8170 oh ok! I always thought they were steel
Do you get any sort of reward for going the extra mile to preserve the integrity of the trees?
?
A job lol
@@nuts319 A few extra dollars wouldn't be a bad thing though, right?
@@robertgreen8695 it would be nice. either way, I take a lot of pride in my work and will do things of this sort no matter what
@@nuts319 Tha'ts a good thing. Too bad more people don't feel that way
