With the prices of everything today. A bar slasher is a more economical option to a slasher saw. I only have experience with a circular saws. I ran one of the first CTR 60"circular saws they made. They were fast but top heavy and sometimes tip over backwards and the saw blade would go into the ground while running at full throttle. Almost every time it would hit a stone. Rouning the carbide teeth. I got real good at replacing them. Heat them up red hot knock the tooth off with a wire brush and brush any hot silver Sodder off of shank. Dab on flux and set new carbide 4004 pitch tooth on shank and silver Sodder. Back in the early 80s the carbide teeth were like 8.00 a piece. A circular saw takes a lot more power to run. I would 100 gallons of fuel a day easy. At todays prices I don't know how they can do it.

With "normal" chainsaw bars, not behemoths like your bucksaw, to level the bar rails, I use a bench grinder with the tool-rest set to grind the rails evenly. Then lightly run the bar gently across the wheel until both sides are even. Grinding marks serve to retain b&c oil as bar wears in. Usually necessary only after 1 side of cutters is dulled, wearing one rail unevenly. Fine-grit wheel helps.

Good morning Pete. With the prices of new bars it sure helps to take care of them. Take care and have a blessed and safe day and I'll see you on your next video

    Time for laser cutting. 😎
I have been away for a while Pete, but have not forgotten what we discussed a good while back.
A logistics problem back then, but I will get something sorted.

Interesting, Pete. I've never used my chainsaw enough to wear it like that.

Pete, I’ve been winging it on dressing the burrs for years. Never had the courage to use a grinder. I just drag them off with a Mill Bastard.
And closing the groove…. I tried it once and ended up with a wavy mess.
Seeing a how a pro does it, in the field, gives me the courage to pull out that mangled bar and see if I can get it into service. If so, I’ll pull some of them old worn out bars off the wall and return them to service!
Thanx bud. You may have saved me a trip to the Stihl dealer!!!

Hey Pete, ever consider building a jig out of some scrap 2x4s to keep that bar upright without holding with one hand?
Maybe 3 24” sections as the base (on sides and parallel) and 2 36” sections as the sides, separated by the bars thickness.

If you can get your hands on "GB" "titanium" bars, Pete, they last twice as long as any other brands I've ran, and they're really hard to bend.

Is there anything that can't be helped with several hits from the BF Hammer?!?!💪
I had a couple new .050 chains and all my bars were .063 this spring. I grabbed a worn out bar and beat the tar out of it till the .050 chains have worked great all summer!🤠

Pete, I know that I can do that type thing to any of my “non-laminated” chainsaw bars as well, but I want be a little more careful in regards to your grinder practices.

Cutting your self on a Bar Bur is so unpleasant.
