I think people are confused and think they are only I and S. Especially since old Oko was spoiled despite that his second ability commits the most evil of crimes. 🦌
Also the 1 damage might be relevant who knows. I really like how the deserts seem very playable in draft this set and you can benefit from the exzta synergies with some of the cards without actively having to build your deck around it (in contrary to the caves in LCI)
Flavorwise I get why Saddle is compared to crew, and it does have the minimum power requirement, but I'm guessing it'll play closer to Enlist from DMU.
Excited for a new format. Karlov was fine, but I'm definitely over it at this point. Thanks as always, Nizza. You're by far my favorite MTG content creator.
one thing that occurred to me is that the incentivizing of committing crimes are gonna give a shot in the arm to the traditionally bad shrink effects that blue often gets. not that they'll be world-beaters all of a sudden but worth consideration. would be nice to actually have those in my decks, i enjoy them but often they are just not good enough.
I don't really play limited but I always look forward to your coverage. I hope this is a good format for you and others, since I know you have been indifferent to many of the recent ones. Also thanks for dealing with my bad Teeka's Dragon jokes.
Just wanna bitch a lil bit about Hasbro seeing the epilogue set flop when the last several years have been the most product exhausting years in magic that I can remember. March of the machine epilogue didn't sell well? I dunno about other people but i never had a damn chance to interact with that set. Theres so much product you have to wait like a year to start buying product (in non-single form). I unironically just bought my first draft box with friends and it was Kamigawa neon dynasty. People would have loved (or at least fucking bought) the products if you gave us some time to actually enjoy it 😤.
i don’t think aftermath sucked because of product deluge, it was just a genuinely bad product. opening packs was miserable because you’d get duplicate after duplicate and there was no limited format around it so it’s not like drafters had a reason to buy. Biggest “just buy singles” set of all time
@@YourAdHere4 Damn and that's kinda in addition to what I'm saying as well, I didn't even get a chance to find that out through experience (buying product, which would have made Hasbro money) and now I have the knowledge to not buy sealed packs when I have a chance to (i don't right now but in theory). Def just hurts their profit margins, but not our problem to make money that's their job. It just yeah hurts when it feels like so many interesting ideas got like shit out in a deluge where they didn't get explored by everyone who was interested in the product.
On the lands- the possibility of being able to finish off your opponent by just making land drops is kinda insane…it’s so much reach for such a small opportunity cost
Saddle is only sorcery speed though, so you cannot saddle in your opponent's turn. Not sure if that will mean anything, but it is significantly different from Crew.
Very skeptical of Mount as a viable limited mechanic. Any time you need another creature to give a bonus to your existing creature - it doesn't work well (Exalted is probably the glorious exception). Training & Enlist are the latest iterations of this dud mechanism. Neither were good in limited and I don't expect Mounts to do any better.
I really wish this was focused on creating an original cast of characters rather than just being like "hey we have a bunch of Magic characters but they're dressed up in old west costumes"; I'd be more interested in the story of each MTG set if each one wasn't focused on just being a build-up to some big event. We just had the Phyrexian Invasion of the Multiverse, and that ended with a whimper. I don't think we need even more of that. (I really think that the Phyrexian Invasion should have been like, 1-2 years long and focused on an individual plane in each set instead of just an uninspired rip-off of Infinity War/Endgame and the MCU's now-so-tired structure of storytelling).
I feel great sympathy for magic content creators who are going to be stuck with covering this dumpster-fire of "creative design" for the next few months. What a terrible, uninspired aesthetic.
@@NizzahonMagic Well, until you have to make a top-ten godawful puns list, eh? But provided we don't get another "just draft hyper-aggro and never block" format, what they're doing with plot at uncommon does look genuinely fun.
@@NizzahonMagicfor which I am grateful. I do like there is a stable of regular characters and I like this a bit bent as a setting and not just a generic Wild West. Though, what’s in the water where everyone is doing a Wild West set lol
I think you actually can’t cast a spree spell without choosing at least one mode
Correct. One or more, means you must choose and pay for at least one of the options.
@@andrueurbane7361 literally worded your comment exactly how I would have 😂
Yep, and same with cards like black market connections
That sucks. No free storm count.
I think the breaking news bonus sheet are all spells that help you commit a crime
Yeah, that's exactly what I was going to say.
I think people are confused and think they are only I and S. Especially since old Oko was spoiled despite that his second ability commits the most evil of crimes. 🦌
Deserts also commit crimes, which means that they're not necessarily a dead draw in the late game
Phrases I didn’t expect to ever hear
Also the 1 damage might be relevant who knows. I really like how the deserts seem very playable in draft this set and you can benefit from the exzta synergies with some of the cards without actively having to build your deck around it (in contrary to the caves in LCI)
Desert power
"Crime is something we already do all the time in Magic" - excellent out of context line
The Breaking News bonus sheet has a theme: all the cards commit a crime
Flavorwise I get why Saddle is compared to crew, and it does have the minimum power requirement, but I'm guessing it'll play closer to Enlist from DMU.
Can a creature with summoning sickness mount? If so that seems like an important way in which it’s more like crew
Famous line: "And now I will begin committing crimes"
But no more than "once per turn" because that's a thing
@@cowman22ish It's a thing because a few older cards would let you commit infinite crimes.

I can't wait to saddle saddle creatures with other saddle creatures and envision the madness of it.
No, we need to tap the Mount creatures to man a vehicle which will tap to saddle the mount!
It's like you're describing how to make Turducken...and we all just ask "But, why?"
Kinda wild they introduce the “saddle” mechanic a couple sets before an anthropomorphic themed set. 🤨
Where's my Horsemanship? I want it back for OOTJ. It just makes too much sense
Bremen's musicians!
Saddle is almost exactly the same thing as Enlist, just slightly different timing and summoning sickness doesn't matter lol.
seems more interesting to me, enlist always buffed your power but saddle is more open and could do any number of things
looking forward to your review
Coming soon!
I think Make Your Own Luck will be a big card in constructed but not so great in limited.

Like said before Spree has a + in the top corner meaning you have to pay at least one of the modes
Thanks for the content, planning to go to my first ever pre release for this set
Good luck!
It's funny how for this set and MKM, Wizards was just like: Let's give everyone a hat.
Goblin Haberdasher power creep.
It's not funny, they're creatively bankrupt.
It's because they air bushed over previously unused unthemed pieces from a Hodge podged lot of art

I've seen everyone call outlaw like party but it's really more like a new historic from dominaria

Saddle reads to me much more like Enlist than Crew

So the mount mechanic… my horse can crew my limousine??
Saddle gives me a crew/enlist kind of hybrid.
On spree, can you do a mode more than once? It reads choose one or more...
No. Once per mode.
Is that Oko the Broko?
Was my wish finally granted? Was this you officially changing the name of Nizza Notes?
I think the new deserts are gonna be great in pauper. Edit: NVM I thought the red sscrifice a desert was a common, I double checked and it's not

Make Your Own Luck into an Emrakul in Pioneer lmao 😂😂😂😂

There are 11 brand new legendary creatures in the set. Is that not an original cast of characters?
Oh man. Uw looks yhe most busted yet again
Is it a crime to target their hand or a card in it?
Generally discard spells target your opponent, so yes.
I don't think any cards exist that can target a card in an opponent's hand.
Saddle flavour wise I feel fails. Mounts are NOT vehicles. Should the saddle be something like "one creature with TOUGHNESS less than saddle cost?"
I don't see how that would impact the flavor?
And here I was thinking Karlov was a gimmicky set..hold my beer..

Luckily I don't really focus on that kind of thing on my channel.
