Black remnant are the home brew merc unit in the penny arcade youtube channel. They did a live show at PAX where Randall Bills showed up to run a lance of the bounty hunters mechs against them. RFA is still, from my reading, affected by artillery. It only lost the double damage from flk REL are reverse engineer lasers which ignore all your fancy armour and damage reduction tricks.
13:37 "So I'm getting Nightstar vibes..." In the original TRO 3058, the Marauder was referenced as the first in a namesake line of battlemechs. The designs that followed in the line were the Dragonfire, Maelstrom, and Nightstar. I am very much jazzed for the update to the Dragonfire. The original art and metal sculpt we a bit derpy. I hate to say it because the mech in classic is pretty baller.
Justin, 2 things: Cyclops, it's not a Highlander. There should have been an additional sensor nub in the plastic baggie with the top gun, it is for the Dragonfire 3F variant. Nice new minis.
I don't blame him for the Cyclops/Highlander confusion The redesigned Cyclops has a head that is too box-shaped and looks more like a Highlander than the round helmet of the OG Cyclops
Never heard of Black Remnant and nobody i know heard of it, but after some digging its some sort of PAX related promotion because it was like a homebrew force in one of their streams or something like that
Yep, it's one of Penny Arcade's weekly shows, notable for combining the Mechwarrior Destiny RPG and Alpha Strike rules. Worth a watch I'd say. Never expected it to get a canon CGL box, but PA has a knack for this sort of thing (just look at how at how their goofy D&D game 'Acquisitions Incorporated' became canonized into the Forgotten Realms).
@@VespuchianThe reason Penny arcade gets all these tines is because even to this day decades after they started, they have an immense reach in the nerd space and so mentioning things or playing them introduces thousands upon thousands of people to that particular game, hobby or thing of interest.
The Dragon Fire and the Flashman are the mechs I want out of this set. I like that the Flashman is easily discernable from the one included in the ComStar set, so pairing them together won't cause any problems on the game table. The Blood Asp-I is great Davion IlClan-era omnimech, but it's not an era I enjoy playing. This version of the Cyclops doesn't interest me much at all.
Dragonfire I'd one of the Marauder series mechs along with the Malstrom and Nightstar from TRO 3058. Reflective Armor should take less damage from energy weapons unless they're RE types, and more damage from and missile or ballistic weapons due to fragility. That's how it is in Classic BT.
In AS it’s reduces energy weapons by half and -1 from non ene weapons. There is a small list of negatives to reflective armor now, it used to have a lot more associated with it.
I cannot speak to the Shilone, I think that was a “free item” they gave us in the KS. The Blood Asp was a salvage box. I’ve bought and extra Shilone from Fortress if I recall so I assume the BA will come out as well at some point.
These will hit retail (or should) sometime next year. I believe they're trying to make the aerospace and other "one off" salvage boxes available too. (Shilone, Visigoth, Urbie, Blood Asp, and Savannah Master.) When will it be available? That really depends on how long it takes to have a run made and then shipped to the warehouse. How fast will they sell out? With salvage boxes, they're basically already sold out as soon as they hit stock. Seriously, they sell out FAST any time a shipment arrives.
They’re a fan made creation from a recorded RPG. The cards here are the only thing that has made them “canon” so I’d say paint whatever you want with it. I personally am going to pass since i don’t have vested interest in their rpg sessions. I’m waiting for some of those star league and house packs to come out now that i got my mercenaries content i wanted
Really enjoy watching BR, all episodes so far. I have it on in the background while painting mechs. I'm glad you're doing these videos to help grow the community as CGL sure isn't doing much to help things, especially here in Aus.
Before the CSO fiasco I had tried connecting with them to do more “official” content but nothing came of it. I end up buying all the new stuff on my own usually and scrambling to make videos quickly. Wish they’d work with content creators who wish to promote their game and products more often. At this juncture though if there ever was going to be an opportunity to do more official content I’m assuming my channel and I are off the consideration list. That all being said, the comments here have been informative, I didn’t know what BR actually was and now I do, so there is that :) As for AUS, I sincerely hope the KS fulfillment has been worked out, you guys down under seem to always be well behind on getting product.
@Thearmedpainter we sure do, just as an exercise I added one single mech(stormcrow tc) to cgl cart and put in my aus postal, $206.88usd postage haha total was aud$356 for a mech and postage. Retail here struggled for a long time to keep BT on the shelves, was selling faster than they could get stock. Constant short deliveries didn't help either, stores ordering pallets of stuff and betting sent one or two boxes. Has been rectified now it seems, but that could also be the heat cooled down and people who wanted it have it now and anyone interested but couldn't at the time stopped trying and haven't come back. We have a healthy group of BT players here in my area but we are all done with CGL and there KS campaigns, one and done for me, missed the Clan invasion one and kinda glad I did if this one is anything to go by.

REL is Re-engineered Lasers, negates RFA, and reduces CR penalty. Oh, you missed the little dome part in the baggie for the Dragon Fire.

The OG Flashman looked ridiculous in the TRO back in the '90s... the Catalyst version looks absolutely badass.
some great minis there. Can't wait to see them painted up

I didn’t even realize the mixup lol. Had to go look at my thumbnail 🤣
I really want that Cyclops in my life
I don't know anything about the BR, but three of the sculpts would be great, new additions to my collection.

The one mech I want from this pack is the cyclops! 11H I have been waiting for you!

The Blood Asp the only mech I'm interested in this box. Even so the other Mechs do look good. But you can't beat the Asp.
Clan Star Adder is all.

I couldn’t find this on camo specs lol. Cool box.
here is the playlist of Black Remnant's Alpha Strike/Battletech Destiny fusion-play:

It is a fun watch, I am making my way through it now.
Was the original Blood Asp a limited run? I've noticed they're essentially unobtainium. Same with the Shalone from the Clan Invasion Kickstarter.
That's why I got 2 Blood Asps and another Shilone with the mercenaries Kickstarter.
No, they will come to retail in time.

Hmm, interesting idea on CGL's part, but not my thing.
If I use the link to Fortress will they know I went through you?
Bobby won’t know directly it’s from me but you could leave a note during checkout so he knows :)
@@Thearmedpainter Done! Got myself replacements for the very first mechs I painted back in '87. The nostalgia trip's going to be real.

I'll likely just buy it for the minis. The Flashman looks really good in the new pose.

Do you know when this pack will be released?
Q1 next year is what I’ve heard.
My jealousy that you have this is palpable
So...$35 late 2025 the way Catalyst is delaying everything ...
@@miafillene4396 rumor I’ve heard is Q1 but it wouldn’t surprise me if they are delayed and have limited stock available at Adepticon in March. 😞
They're on a boat, last I heard, along with some other packs which should be arriving Q1 2025. The first batch went to PAX.
