Thank you for posting and providing all the details. I had this exact same problem, and you saved me a ton of time and hassle. Thank you very much for sharing all of your work..
I like to express my gratitude and give a shout out for this excellent tutorial for the repair of the broken bolt on the arm rest assembly for my Aeron chair. I live in New Zealand and took the broken arm assembly into the local rep of Herman Miller and was told the ONLY solution was to buy an entirely new arm rest assembly for $210 and wait at least two months for it to arrive by container ship! After ordering the requisite bolt that was clearly specified in the video, I followed the step-by-step procedures and in 30 minutes had 'er done and working perfectly. Thanks VERY much!! Highly recommended tutorial!!
Also dropping a line to thank you for this video. My chair broke in EXACTLY the same way. I thought I'd have to replace the whole arm, but thanks to you it cost me $1.70 and about 5 minutes work. It had been broken for months and now it's good as new thanks to you! (I've had my chair for over 20 years!)
This video saved me potentially hundreds of dollars and a week or two's time to ship my chair out and back for a warranty repair. With this, I was able to fix it myself in 20 minutes for less than $4. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this video! I successfully fixed my Aeron chair arm with a 1/4-28 x 2.5 inch bolt from my local hardware store. Bolt was $0.49. :) Thank you for helping me not have to buy a new chair!
Rob, you just saved me a quoted £65 (-£4 for the bolt)! Incredible job with the video, so easy to follow and a real service to everyone with an Aeron chair. Just wanted to say thanks and enjoy a coffee/pint on me!
Just wanted to say how helpful this video was. Thank you so much. It's great being able to do repairs yourself and the know how of what bolts to buy was what you were able to answer for me. Glad to have the arms back on my chair.
Great job on the video, fixed my chair for $2.75 ! BTW, the proper match for Machine Screw is M6 - 1.0mm x 70mm Pan Head Phillips which I picked up from Home Depot. This bolt is far superior and will never break like the cheap one used by Herman Miller :)
Curious! which bit did you struggle with. Some bits may have been sped up via timelapse, but it's all genuine effort. The only bit that I found tricky was loosening the original nut if I recall correctly, and then it gave way...
@@RobTheFrugalist pretty much most of it.... ahhh, really its not your fault, im just not the most mechanically-inclined person. but I cannot seem to be able to use these plastic tighten/loosen wheels to be able to move the arms now, as if I fiddle with them then the bolt actually starts loosening out. so i just put them where I want now, and tightened everything and just wont fool with them. thanks again.
@bobyrd74 hmmm check if you have them on in the right order. Have a look at the left handle as a model. It might be that you have some or one of the bits around the wrong way...
I'm looking for cideos to fix my aeron remastered chair and unfortunately I'm only seeing videos for the classic version. By any chance, could you update your video title to include "aeron classic" for those like myself looking for aeron remastered videos in the future? It'll help us find the most accurate videos. Thank you!
