This car is just perfection.
ACTUALLY, Skyline GT-Rs (as well as GT-FOUR, 25GT-FOUR, and GTS-4s) are actually full-time 4WD. It's quite complex, but basically, it is RWD until it NEEDS to be AWD (at which point, the ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Wheel-Drive, Electronic Torque Split) will send between 10 and 50% of total torque up to the front wheels, and take it back when not needed. Additionally, the HICAS (HIgh-Capacity Actively-controlled Steering) system allows the rear wheels to turn about 1-2 degrees, allowing for tighter turning radii and more comfortable steering. While ATTESA E-TS is only still featured in the R35 GT-R, the HICAS four-wheel steering is still included on the INFINITI G35x/Q50x (NISSAN Skyline 350GT-FOUR), INFINITI G37x/Q60x (NISSAN Skyline 370GT-FOUR), and their respective Crossover SUV models, the INFINITI QX50/QX60 (NISSAN Skyline 350GT/370GT Crossover).

I believe you can import one but you are prohibited from starting it on the street. Strictly for track use and flatbed towing until they are deemed legal.

joey gutierrez Umm...no, the RB28DET was based on the RB25DET from the R33. Plus those were only used in the special edition R33 GT25T. The RB26DETT was used in all the GT-R's (R32, R33, R34). He even explains the engine code in the video, were you not listening?
Virtuos1c if you would know this "rb26" isn't stock you can even hear the cam lope it sounds very close to an rb28 stroker kit and yes I know the rb26 was used in all three generations but not the rear wheel drive models either they used the rb20det or the rb25

Can Tavukçuoğlu I think that gauge cluster is from the Skyline GT-R R33 Nismo 400R and the stock Skyline GT-R R34 has an 8000 rpm rev limiter. With some mods it can do around 9000 rpm
Jimmy Singh i dont think the limiter thing you were talking about it true. saw a r34 rev past 9000 rpm and im pretty sure that all that was done to is was mechanical
It can rev to 9k, you can adjust it in the settings on the console. And obviously higher lift cams are available so i wouldnt be surprised if theres R34s that rev to 11k. I mean ive seen supras revving to 10k and RB26s are knowing to be one of the highest revving engines so why not.

There are a lot of questions about the legality of this car in the US so let me explain a few things. I speak from first hand experience as a car exporter in Japan. We send vehicles to the US regularly. I have spent several hundred hours in research and helping customers with questions about the legality of Skylines in the US.
This R34 is most likely an illegal vehicle in the US. Vehicles (with very very few exceptions) must be 25 years old to import into the US.
The only "legal" R34s in the US were imported via Motorex and were later found to be illegally complied and thereafter banned, though the people who bought these cars were allowed to keep them. These are the only "legal" R34s in the US. You may not import any more of them at this point because they are not 25 years old? .
Nearly all the R34s in the US are imported via these (illegal) means -
1 - Cut in half Japan and sent to the US to be re-assembled and registered as a kit car (illegal)
2 - Imported in a container with shipping documents stating it is a different car older than 25 years old (illegal).
3 - Imported in to Canada and driven down (illegal)
4 - Customs officers are friends of the importer and allow it in for bribes (illegal)
See a trend here?
For importing cars into the US from any country other than Mexico and Canada, the car must be 25 years old. Sorry for repeating that but with the power of the internet, it is still not known to many people.
There is an exception for "show and display". However, currently there are no R34s that have made the specialty list for vehicles that are of "historical relevance". The R32 Nismo edition is on the list. Though this car is now 25 years old and so it is useless to import the car this way as you would limit yourself to 2500 km max per year. Although it is possible to apply to allow R34s into the US by claiming they are "historically relevant", it has been attempted many many times with no success. In theory, vehicles that qualify must have very limited production numbers of fewer than 500 units. You might be able to have the R34 Z-Tune qualify for this but there were only 19 of these vehicles ever made and they almost never come up for sale. Considering the market of no-supply and high-demand, sellers can basically get what they want for them and prices would be in the range of $500,000+ dollars.
Is the R33 GTR legal? Didn't Motorex crash test them?
Yes and no. They are legal to import into the US but not one person has successfully done so since Motorex because they can't comply to EPA standards which require an OBD2 port to test emissions. It is a bureaucratic mess but Motorex never got passed this and so their R33s were not even legal either. They just paid $$$ to bad guys and it caught up to them. This is part of the reason why Motorex went out of business. To have it pass, one would have to basically re-design the car's computer from scratch so that it could function with a custom made OBD2 port. This is probably more difficult than people think. Consider this - If even one company can figure it out, they will have the market completely to themselves and will make hundreds of thousands of dollars... and yet nobody has done that yet after about 10 years.
One confusing thing is that many of these illegal cars have plates and registration on them... Are they not legal?
Well... the car is legally registered with the "state"... but is still an illegal good at the federal level. Usually these cars get caught when an owner of one in a lax state like Florida sells the car to a state that knows what is going one. The car gets seized and both the buyer and the seller lose because court is expensive and tricky for inter-state problems.
How about for Race use?
I get this question a lot and the answer is 99.9% no. My question to these people is what race are you registering the car in? Are you going to race in Formula Drift or WRC? In that case, you can probably import the car for track use only (and export it after according to regulations). The import of the car would have to be done through the event authority board. For car guys like me and you, that means your weekend track time or even sanctioned events do not count as your board is not going to spend the time to handle that for you.
To make a long story short- R34 imports to the US are either illegal or must be one of the original Motorex cars (read- EXTREMELY RARE). Sure it is possible to import illegal cars (please don't ask me to do it), but one could also start up a cocaine importing company... in other words, illegal import dealing is not worth it.
I hope this was educational for everyone.

If I come across one for the right price I would trade my v8 for this in a heart beat. There is something about these cars that just calls to you. It always looks ready to take on anything the world has to offer even after all these years since it's ended production (the r34 anyways).

TBH a R35 can not pull it off with the Bayside Blue. I've seen a supra have it and can not pull it off neither . R35 is good in white or black and even red, but a dark blue looks sick IMO.

Still liking the Skyline. The R34 is definitely the best in the Skyline lineup (but the R33 wins in terms of sound). I also noticed a remote start on the key fob. Awesome! It's a little sad that you skipped out on it. But the Nissan Skyline GT-R is the best Iconic JDM sports car ever made.

truly amazing and far better than that r35 fat disgrace to the skyline name plate. The R34 simply looks sexyier, more modren all this time later, sounds better, and the performance is still there.

there is one for sale in Florida for 65k :) it's on craigslist :) it also not a kit car, and there is also an r33 too for sale in Florida :D
