An Alaskan here. Anyone who microwaves Salmon should be examined by a psychiatrist. Something going on there. There is also a huge difference in the species of salmon. Don't bother with farm raised salmon. Any of that is nasty. In Alaska, pink salmon is better known as dog food. people don't eat it. Red salmon is great for smoking or fileted and broiled. Silver salmon is good pan fried, salmon cakes, breaded, or smoked. King salmon is the best for broiling, grilling, sushi dishes, and smoked. It has the best flavor, texture and oils. I can eat salmon several times a week, mostly because we can catch that mutch in the summer for the family here. Its cheaper than beef or other meats and better for health.
THE best salmon I've ever had was given to me by an Alaskan bush pilot. He caught it smoked it himself and I thought I died and went to Heaven. I don't like fish, if it tastes fishy. This was beyond delicious.
Each and every salmon has its distinct flavor and most are soo light that many people can't discern it. Pink salmon isn't dog food as it has a great strong flavor! Ever have "Hawaiian Strips?!?" lol At least that's what my uncle and auntie called it. Every salmon doesn't have it's own style to be cook as they all can be and should be cooked any way the user wants. A White King salmon in a white king salmon sauce is extremely great! OH! This list isn't 100% correct either, but its a decent start.

Enjoyed your reactions! This is just a guide to let others know what is offered in each state. Most are things I like, but a few aren't my cup of tea. Everyone has different tastes for foods. ❤
I'm watching from Nortwest Florida if you look on a map I'm in the Fort Walton Beach area. I love my shrimp! We also get Mahi Mahi, grouper, wahoo, sailfish & pompano. My favorite foods? Shrimp, mussels, clams, oysters, scallops sea scallops or bay/pagonia scallops, salmon, tuna, almost any fish if its cooked properly, octopus, and eel but I've only had that japanese grilled style. I could go on and on because I'm an adventurous eater. Regarding your smoker issue you don't need a smoker to smoke your meal you can use a regular grill and still smoke. The issue becomes how much smoke do you want in your food because then you have to stay on top of your fire to add just the right amount of new wood for it to smoke but that also creates more heat so if you want that real down home smoked flavor you're going to have to watch your temp for the who time. With an electric pellet smoker you set the temp and/or the time and your set. The true smoker pitmasters stay up all night or have someone stay up all night to monitor everything. Good luck with your decision!
Greetings from Lincoln, Nebraska! The chili and cinnamon roll combo is a thing. However you do not dip the cinnamon roll in the chili. Some people probably do but generally no.
Regarding maple syrup, the genuine syrup is a thinner consistency than the recognizable artificially flavored high fructose corn syrup you will tend to see in supermarkets. Corn syrup in supermarkets and restaurants have recently been required by regulators to call it "breakfast syrup" since it is corn based and not genuine maple syrup.
I don't think burgers are a regional specialty anywhere, although they can be found all over the U.S. This video captured foods that are singular or unique to each state. My home state, Maryland, is almost synonymous with blue crabs, and we steam them whole, fry them up as soft shells, make crab cakes and make crab soup. In fairness, you can find these dishes in parts of neighboring states (except among the scrapple-eating Pennsylvanians), but they are what we are known for. The key is that we never boil the crabs -- steaming is the best way to preserve the flavor of the crab meat, and we season them liberally with a rub like Old Bay (some people have their own recipes for seasoning).
Greetings from Louisiana. I figured our dish would be either gumbo or jambalaya. Can't go wrong with either one. I made a shrimp and crab gumbo a couple of weeks ago and will be making a chicken and sausage jambalaya tonight.
Just started watching video. You guys seem like an awesome family. I would LOVE for you to show you learning how to smoke some meat. I think you would nail it. Now back to video.
There's a dish in southwest Missouri that's unique to this area but it's Asian influenced. It was made by a Chinese man working at a restaurant in th late 70s after fleeing China during communist takeover. He was working and wanted a taste of home but they didn't grow They right ingredients here so he improvised. he wanted cashew chicken which is a stir fried chicken and veggie dish but he made it different wih what he had and some co workers tried it and fell in love with it. Now it's a Missouri heritage dish. It was made in the town of Springfield Missouri and is called Springfield styl3 cashew chicken. It's fairly simple to make it all about the sauce to be honest.you cup up som3 boneless skinless chicken thigh to about 1 inch peices. Then you dredge them in corn starch for about an hour. Then add in some beaten eggs until fully coated. Then you mix some flour salt white pepper and garlic powder together and put the chicken Into the flour until fully coated then into the fryer. Fry to a golden brown. Then drain well. Make some white rice. Now the sauce is basically chicken stock, sugar, garlic powder, oyster sauce and some soy sauce mixed in with a tablespoon of corn starch and add all that to a pan and simmer stirring constantly until its thickened. You put the chicken on the rice the sauce on top and some chopped green onions and cashews on top. It's so good and fairly easy even a kid could cook it. Or here's a recipe a southern lady named Paula Dean created. She's known for making things fattening. Down home southern rib sticking food. It's easy. 1 egg, 1 cup sugar beaten together till smooth, then 1 cup peanutbutter. Mix it all together and make walnut sized balls put them on a baking sheet. Heat the oven to 350° farenheight. Use a fork and flatten the balls a bit in a cross pattern. Then bake between 9 to 15 minutes. Let cool completely before eating. Very fattening very tasty and 2 cookies is more than enough because th3yvaren4 big cookies but have the sugar content of bigger cookies. I myself use chunky peanutbutter because it has more protein less sugar.each state may have a beloved dish but each family has a variation of that dish.for instance ramen noodles. My family didn't always eat them just plain. My mom would cook ground beef with chopped yellow onion, belle peppers with salt pepper garlic powder and soy sauce. When th3 burger was done sh3 add it to a big pan. Throw in a bag of mixed Asian mixed veggies Thu noodles the seasoning and water with a big of beef stock. She'd let it cook till noodles were done. It was a one pot meal for the family and fairly easy.
I was born in Ohio but raised in Florida. There is so much I can say! I love a hot brown (Kentucky), cheese curds (Wisconsin) and I am a huge fan of the cuban sandwich - I live near Tampa but my favorite is the Miami Cuban.
I make Maple Syrup every 2 or 3 years here in Kentucky. Buy the smoker, no matter what!! Just remember this, you can smoke in the smoker then wrap and finish in an oven if your smoker isn't up to the task temperature wise. I do this with my electric smoker all the time because I just can't get the finishing temp up high enough.
I am surprised they went with pork ribs for Kansas. We have great BBQ in general, and great pork ribs, but Kansas City is the birthplace of burn ends at Arthur Bryant's Barbeque restaurant (yes, technically in Kansas City, Missouri before someone flames me). They used to give them away for free.
I'm living at my 34th address, I've been to all but 5 states in the US (all in New England), and have literally been around the world. So, my favorites - Tex-Mex in south-central Texas (i.e., San Antonio), Texas barbeque (brisket, ribs, sausage, chicken), Nebraska corn-fed/Kansas City steak, Teriyaki salmon in Seattle, southern biscuits and sausage gravy, Virginia ham, southern fried chicken (with southern iced tea), bangers and mash, Alaskan Halibut, pizza of all varieties (Chicago deep-dish, New York, etc.), bratwurst and sauerkraut on a hard roll with spicy mustard, corned beef and cabbage, peach cobbler, and key lime pie. I've excluded my wife's goulash, shepherd's pie, home-made pizza, spaghetti with meat sauce and Texas style chili, all of which tops all others previously mentioned.
Shout out from Ohio. Buckeyes are amazing but my family reserves them for holidays. Cincinnati chili is a strong contender for most favorite Ohio food.
Just a heads up on the buffets in Vegas. Most of the big name places, have a time limit. The Bacchanal has a 90 minute time limit, most of the other ones have anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours. And yes, they will literally throw you out at the end of the time limit lol (not with security or anything mind you, just up your butt about leaving) Also be aware, not all the buffets are worth it. The Bacchanal is like $75 per person these days I think, Wynn's buffet is close to $60 I think, and there is one other I'm pretty sure is nearly $100 at this point. Just because they are expensive doesn't mean good, just keep that in mind. Also it really, really depends on the time of day you go there and how busy it is.
I live in Wisconsin and would be happy to treat you to some Cheese Curds (fresh or fried), Dairy Queen [Minnesota company] and Culver's [Wisconsin Born but popular all over the midwest]. I am sure we can arrange a number of others. Wisconsin, isn't usually a first stop like the big cities and well travelled states but I am sure we could surprise you. 😉
I live in Minnesota. Tater Tot hot dish is a get meal. You get protein, starch, and veggies. All in one baking pan. There is no one recipe for tater Tot hot dish. Another great food is a fish called a Walleye. Yes you can get it at restaurants, but for the cost. You would be better off buying everything you need to fish, and the license.
I know it's been a few months since you posted this video, but I 'd recommend South Carolina's state food, Shrimp and Grits. I find it better than the Low Country Boil! :D
You're correct, Huckleberry Hound was a cartoon. I remember watching it as a kid. Huckleberry Finn is a fictional character in Mark Twains' book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
I'm watching from Arizona. Born and raised in Arizona. I love the Sonoran hot dogs. Tucson, Arizona is the place for the best Mexican food. In fact the first Mexican restaurant in America was founded in Tucson, Arizona. El Charro Café is the name of the place. El Charro invented the chimichanga.
I have lived in Tucson most of my life outside of the military and I will concur... Tucson has the best Mexican food. Another fun fact, Tucson was the first of only 2 cities in the U.S. to win the Unesco food award.
I'm from New Jersey and I actually think the pork roll breakfast sandwich, if your from North Jersey like I am is unique New Jersey treat found nowhere else in America. In South Jersey, however, Pork Roll is called Taylor Ham, but they're strange like that. Pork Roll or Taylor ham breakfast sandwich, it doesn't matter. It is always delicious. Ask for it when you're in New Jersey. Yeh, great video guys!
As every other state can get full on food I'll be over here in Washington dying of hunger drinking my coffee. haha. Yes, we love our coffee here but I think of it as a drink not a food. I don't go to a restaurant and order coffee because I'm hungry.

They went to a place that sells them and he gave a COMPLETE run down on smokers and what to look for.... -Ohioan here, Even though Buckeyes are a thing, I wouldn't call them the state food... Greetings from Texas. I absolutely love your channel. I discovered it recently and have started watching your reactions. I love how y’all watch the videos as a family and discuss the contents together. So much fun!
I have seen smokers made out of many things. One guy made one out of a file cabinet.
I grew up in Michigan and yes we have our own version of fudge. It is the best desert here in America.
Wisconsin here cheese curds are the best deep-fried and dipped in ranch, with your favorite beverage. Mines an old fashioned sweet
I'm from Alabama, and I can tell you that the white BBQ sauce is pretty unique in its own.
It's a mayonnaise and vinegar based sauce with a selection of seasonings
It was originally created in 1925 in the town of Decatur, Alabama
New Yorker here, I’m from closer Buffalo so I’m all about wings lol like it’s a problem shhh😂 Now I live in Albany and so it’s like, wings, bagels or pizza hahahaha
We all gotta start somewhere...go for it.
Greetings from Oklahoma! You were wondering about burgers,. In El Reno, OK the fried onion burger was born. Its a flat grilled burger with fried onions grilled to perfection. Check out the many videos available. Theres an annual festival that draws thousands. (Sorry I was drooling.)

North Carolina here and yes we love our pulled pork. I’m from the eastern part so I prefer vinegar based sauce. I am also Native American (from the Lumbee tribe) so I love fry bread too.
Honorable mentions would be Grouper cooked any way. And Keys lobsters. Delicious
something i learned recently, huckleberry is also a name for one of the people that helps carries a casket, you have to try chili with a cinnamon roll!!! tear of a piece of cinnamon roll and use it like a chip with dip!!! so good
I'm in New Hampshire, Lakes Region, and had Maine lobster this weekend. It's a bit confusing because you can also get Canadian lobster (obviously just after the North of Maine), but it all is so great. Keep it simple with butter.
Apparently, this video shows Apple Cider Donuts for NH, which are awesome, but there must be something else 🙂.
Can't resist them though during the fall and stopping at an apple orchid for the home made.
Watching from Massachusetts. Trust me, you'd LOVE clam chowder. You gotta know the best place to go to! Our seafood is delicious. But also, if you visit the North End in Boston, you'll find the best Italian food ever.
A great way for maple is hot poured over bed of snow and then twirled on stick to make a great sucker.
Hey Family, big up from me, all the way Downunder, Brisbane Queensland, Australia. I'm commenting before I watch. These have to be there; BBQ, chilli, fried chicken, fried catfish, pizza (Chicago deep dish & New York) & Wisconsin cheese. Probably alligator in some form as well. Keep the cool Vlogs coming. I really enjoy your families reactions. Cheers.
Enjoyed your reactions! This is just a guide to let others know what is offered in each state. Most are things I like, but a few aren't my cup of tea. Everyone has different tastes for foods. ❤
I’m in Colorado and I love the sandwich with jelly, bacon, and peanut butter. It’s really good. Rocky Mountain Oysters are a case by case thing.
Peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches are great 👍
Peanut butter on a hamburger is good too. Never had peanut butter on my Rocky Mountain Oysters.
@@gregsmith230 not on the Rocky Mountain oysters, but a French loaf of bread. It’s like a PB&J sandwich with crispy bacon.
Watching from California, i love you guys. Great videos keep them coming
I’m an Arkansan and we do eat a lot of cheese dip but most people I know call it Rotel. We definitely don’t call it queso like a lot of states do 🤣
I'm watching from Nortwest Florida if you look on a map I'm in the Fort Walton Beach area.
I question some of these selections...lol. But from Virginia here, and ham is my favorite of the classic VA foods.
I lived in Indiana for decades and never had a pork tenderloin sandwich. Didn't know it was the state food until after I moved away.
You can hardly go through Indiana without trying a tenderloin sandwich. They are indeed bigger than your face. I really enjoyed this video.
A take-away is:
BBQ is NOT JUST TEXAS!
Cali, St. Louis, N-S Carolina, AL all have distinct versions.
If you like seafood you
HAVE to come here to Pensacola, Florida. Some restaurants actually catch their own seafood and serve it that same day! ❤
Greetings from Lincoln, Nebraska! The chili and cinnamon roll combo is a thing. However you do not dip the cinnamon roll in the chili. Some people probably do but generally no.
From Michigan and Detroit style Deep Dish pizza is the best. We got Coney dogs also.
I live in Massachusetts clam chowder is beyond delicious
New yorker, here we do love our pizza. But we also love our bagels. Our cheesecake and our pastrami sandwiches
Sandusky, Ohio on lake Erie yellow perch is the best local fish
Another Ohioan here. Yellow perch and walleye are both delicious.
I live in Georgia, and we actually have amazing Barbecue as well!!
It would be great if you gave us a tour of your favorite places in Slovakia.
A SMOKER IS A LIFETIME INVESTMENT ✨️
Just started watching video. You guys seem like an awesome family. I would LOVE for you to show you learning how to smoke some meat. I think you would nail it. Now back to video.
If you all come to Tennessee. You need to try Nashville Hot 🔥🥵 chicken. It's the best 👍. Bison meat tastes like cow but it has 30% less fat
Oldsmar, Florida ❤❤ love watching you guys ❤
For some states iconic seems to stand for weirdest and half (or more) of the people in the state have never eaten it (or heard of it).
I'm in St. Louis. Toasted ravioli is excellent.
Iowa is also the pork tenderloin
HI from North Carolina USA we love our bbq
I live in Minnesota. Tater Tot hot dish is a get meal. You get protein, starch, and veggies. All in one baking pan. There is no one recipe for tater Tot hot dish.
Another great food is a fish called a Walleye. Yes you can get it at restaurants, but for the cost. You would be better off buying everything you need to fish, and the license.
Greetings from Austin, Texas!
Northern Illinois! Chicago superb here! And I don’t like deep dish either. I’m a stuffed pizza guy! Looks the same. But less dough but more cheese!
I know it's been a few months since you posted this video, but I 'd recommend South Carolina's state food, Shrimp and Grits. I find it better than the Low Country Boil! :D
Pennsylvania state university has a course on ice cream some of their alumni are Ben and Jerry
I think what you might be thinking with Huckeberry. It was Huckleberry Hound, if was a cartoon maybe?
You're correct, Huckleberry Hound was a cartoon. I remember watching it as a kid.
Huckleberry Finn is a fictional character in Mark Twains' book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
Colorado here.
I recommend you get a little chief smoker. Small cheap and good. You won't be disappointed
Tangy white sauce is mayonnaise vinegar salt pepper and a pinch or two of sugar
Would definitely like to see you smoking some meats!!
Watching from Texas
Oregon here.
Is it a vertical smoker? Off set smoker? Propane or charcoal?
As every other state can get full on food I'll be over here in Washington dying of hunger drinking my coffee. haha. Yes, we love our coffee here but I think of it as a drink not a food. I don't go to a restaurant and order coffee because I'm hungry.
I’m from south Carolina so all southern food a lot of Chicken fresh greens mash potatoes home made Mac and cheese and definitely Mexican Japanese and Italian are my favorite I have a culinary degree lol so I was a chef before military I’m 47 now so I’ll just say southern ,Mexican , Japanese, and Italian so im blessed to cook mostly anything as l have the recipe but I do have a lot I can cook
Yes smoke something, lots of something’s lol.. 2:35
Hello lovely family!!
South Carolina we have the Best BbQ Ever and our Low Country Boil is Amazing 💯Not to mention our Fried Chicken and The fresh veggies and Desserts From Pecan Pie to several Layers of Multiple different cakes to cream puffs Banana Pudding cobblers with ice cream dripping down the side of the cobblers . We Can Cookkkkkkk Down South💯
Check out a video by Mr. H and Friends. They are in the market to get a new smoker, their cheaper one they bought, well sucks. They went to a place that sells them and he gave a COMPLETE run down on smokers and what to look for....
-Ohioan here, Even though Buckeyes are a thing, I wouldn't call them the state food... As a matter of fact, each city probably is known for something different. In Cincinnati, it's probably their chili, and their restaurant Skyline Chili. In Cleveland where I'm from we're know for our polish boy sandwiches, corned beef and pierogis. Ohio is a "melting pot" and each region eats something a bit different to the others.
new way lunch has the best hot dogs with the works in upstate NY
