    Big believer in self talk. but i'm normally saying "come on, brenda" "keep this same pace, brenda". But now i am going to add things like "pick up your feet" "focus on form". Thanks for the video!

    Thank you so much Matt for your Self Talk Tip! I have an epic training week ahead as I’m gearing up for my first organized 5k and I’m very excited to use the “you” method 😎 cheers!

      Ahh, congrats on your upcoming first 5k! Soak up every moment! I know you'll have a lot of fun!
      I was almost going to ask for you to let me know how using "you" statements works for you, but I think it's one of those things we can't actually measure as individuals. Trust the science and tell yourself "you've got this," because you do!
      Check back in next Monday and LMK about your race! 👊🏼

    Had a great week of training on hills. The high light was a 16 miler on Saturday. I can feel myself getting fitter and fitter everyday.
    I’ll be in Florida on a family vacation in August. I haven’t decided if I will use the treadmill, or run outside for my workouts the humidity zaps my energy, I am not sure how you do it day after day 😂😂…..Great video Matt!

      Good job getting in those hills, and of course nicely done getting that long run in! 💪
      As far as running in Florida, remember it's about effort rather than hitting workouts the same as you would in NY. You'll be fine, perhaps a little more sweaty, but fine!

    I’m working toward running 100 miles for St Jude children’s hospital. Going well. Multiple days of 8 minute miles. Have a small pain in the ball of my right foot.. hopefully nothing significant. I LOVE RUNNING!

    It's so interesting to see your stats Wed vs Thurs! I'm a huge fan of mantras. I actually write them down whenever I come across a new one, for running or any part of life. Having a bunch handy means I can pick the one that best helps my mood and the circumstance. When I'm struggling in a 50k, it absolutely helps me keep going. I'll adjust them to "you" now, thanks!

    • @its_Matt_B_
      @its_Matt_B_  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wed vs. Thurs was quite surprising to me, although it just goes to teach us not worry to much about a single bad run.
      When I ran my first hundo, I printed very small mantras and laminated them so I could pull them out if needed and read them.

    My week is going well. I have ran in my first early morning run before work and it felt good to run in the morning. That is a interesting study. Most of my long runs I have to tell myself that I can do it. Thanks for sharing!!
