    I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.

    Growing up, round charcoal grills had a post in the center that raised and lowered the grate about a foot above the coals by using a small crank. Sort of sounds like the same thing, but a lot cheaper. Made great steaks.

    As a South African used to braaing rather than BBQ, this looks perfect. Cannot beat a good wood fire. The fact is though that a very efficient system can be constructed from a half gallon drum and will cost a fraction of the price and do the job just as well. The Caveman is a beautiful looking piece of kit though...
    Thanks for sharing.

    When I lived in Argentina , every grill I saw had that type of grating and they all had a separate place to make fire . Beef or chicken or chorizo on the grill almost every nite . The big difference between theirs and the U.S. is that we tend to welcome the smoke in our meat so we allow it to drip on the coals and smoke . They try to avoid making smoke so they have grates that drain and a separate place to have hot coals ready to add . They feel the smoke covers up the clean , fresh flavor of their grass fed ,freshly slaughtered beef . No marinades or cooking sauces ever . Just salt . Incredible . It's a huge part of their lives and it shows .

      Do like I did, do your own, not hard to make at all and you will save a ton of money but after a month I scrap it and fit it on the fire pit, since I did that I will never spend money again, I don't have a tray for the hashes but that is why they make shovel, I use one from my old heating stove, all very easy to make and the best part, when I go camping, I always bring it with me, set up in less than 5 mins and ready to cook in 15, pretty sure you will save alot and with the money you save you can buy meat or anything else you like to eat, it cost me arround 200$ ( and what cost more is the grill itself, but again you can make one as your need ) for everything so worth the try, good luck !!! I think it will cost you almost the same for the shipping as the grill since it's so heavy with the bricks, but I never use them anyways :)

    These santa maria's all have a problem, you can't get the grill right next to the coals. This is important because you might not have a lot of wood, or do not want to spend too much wood cooking, this would make it faster to cook too or fine tune your cooking to the max. And this would make it easier, it your fire is running really low and you don't want to ignite it again and from this having to wait longer hours. Also, the closer the meat is to the fire the more smoke it will take.

    Fat dripping is about 50:50 in the pit and taken out by grill shape. Fat taken out has to be cleaned which is extra work. What is wrong fat dripping in the pit fire and burning? Grill shape is far harder to clean than round shape as there are channels to be cleaned with burned fat and meat or whatever scraps after barbequeing finished.
    Is it worth EUR 3000 or US$ 3420?

    Argentinians have been using this method of making their "Parrilladas" for ever, with the difference of using vegetable coal instead of raw wood. They built a fire on the side to keep feeding the cooking process. Also, a real "Asado" is seasoned with rock salt only. No "chimichurri" neither. Anything else would it be consider sacrilege!

      Gotta love when third world countries cry because they too mastered the art of cooking meat over a fire.

    @docohm50 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guy before you put the meat on you need to foil wrap tators and make some foil packs with other veggies and lay them in with the coals.

    It would have great if you took a minute to discuss cleaning up the grill.... obviously you were the first to use it so it looks prestige, but I'm sure after a few uses the unit will be a mess.

      @PITMASTERX  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +P Patel Because it is stainless steel it will still look good you get some change in color, but it cleans very easy
