I didn’t know that till today, I’m crushed
My daughter played this Shawn James cover of Maiden's Number of the Beast in her car while driving me to the VA hospital a few months ago and truth be told, I couldn't get it out of mind during my medical appointment. When I asked her to play it again on the ride home, she did and I sat there mesmerized by the power of the singer's voice. A few weeks went by until I thought about this song again, but sadly, I couldn't remember who it was. I eventually called my daughter and found out it was Shawn James and immediately put it on TH-cam and watched the video. I usually like most cover songs that bands do, and then there are a few covers that I really love ("Hallowed be thy Name" by Cradle of Filth) but this cover, I can honestly say that I love it as much or even more than the original by Iron Maiden! Up the irons and Shawn James forever!
I don't usually listen to covers because maiden are amazing but this guy has changed my mind.
Gotta watch covers man, there are some amazing musicians out there. Most people now just do covers because it’s so damn hard to write original music now. I know this because I try to write music every day 😂 always sounds like something else
I heard Iron Maiden for the first time when I was 11, I am now 44. I absolutely approve. It's clearly very different, but still awesome.

As a kid that grew up on punk rock and metal, knowing this song since I was 7 or 8 if not longer, and a far more recent fan of Shawn James, goddamn does this man have a voice and a talent. I honestly had trouble imagining an acoustic cover of this song really working, but goddamn, does it work.

As a huge Iron Maiden fan, I've always thought this song overtly Cliché and have heard it more than any of the others (personal favorite is 7th son of a 7th son album... The Evil That Men Do just has the real feelings that Dickenson, Murray, Smith, and Harris we're trying to convey). I've never heard of Shawn James before, but I listened and was immensely impressed... now with Iron Maiden it's the music and singing and lyrics as a whole taken into account. Here vocals we're the star and the guitar was just there to give it substance, that being said. It was a great cover/original take.
