  • GROW TONS OF LEMONS IN POTS... FOLLOW THESE CARE TIPS...:)
You want to grow lemons but stop because you run out of space or you don’t grow it because you live in a colder region. If this is your plight then growing a lemon tree in a pot is a smart idea. Plant it on a patio, terrace or in indoors and you will be bestowed by its scented flowers and soft yellow citrus fruits. You can grow it in balcony too, Meyer lemon variety is perfect for kitchen and balcony gardens, especially for non-tropical zones
    Daizz's tips:-
Choose a pot that is 25% bigger than the root ball of the plant. Clay pot is ideal because unlike plastic it is porous and evaporates water from sides, this helps the lemon tree to grow well as it dislikes being water logged. The quality and type of soil is an important factor too. For growing high yielding plants, use well draining organic potting mix.
Requirements for Growing Lemon Tree in a Pot
Repot your lemon tree in every couple of years or so in the beginning of spring (in tropics winter is the best season). Your pot size should be according to the scale of your tree. Avoid too large or small planters, keep in mind to use a container that is one size bigger than your previously used pot.
*pH level of soil should be around 5.5 to 7 as the plant prefer slightly acidic soil to neutral soil.
    Sunlight
All plants in the citrus family love full sun, around 7 to 8 hours of sunlight is essential. If growing indoors use grow light to provide adequate lighting inside.
    Watering
The lemon tree requires consistent watering to produce healthy fruits. Giving it too much or too little water can lead to blossom and fruit drop and sometimes plant may die too. Check top 2-inch layer of soil for dryness before watering. On windy and hot days, it requires more frequent watering.

My mom is growing a lemon tree right out of our window and we live in a small apartment. Didn’t thought it was going to grow from seeds from the lemons my mom bought from the grocery store. But it’s still growing and is pretty tall but it needs more time to grow thicker in order to give lemons. It’s a year now since they been planted ... well four to seven years more to go!!! 🍋🤞🏽🤩 Thanks for your video very helpful.

I germinated seeds from a Mexican lime tree. They grew to about 2-3 feet in the past 3 years almost. I don't have blooming or limes, but the leaves smell like limes.
I live in Canada, cold winters, and hot summers. Winters i bring the plant inside and summers outside.
I have the 3 lime trees in 5 gallon buckets.
I pruned the tree once last year when it was around 2 years old and now its full again with branches and leaves.
I noticed the leaves curling up, went to lowes and bought plant lights. The leaves are more green and opened up again.
I'm writing this in February of 2018.
i potted with miracle grow soil and every 3 watering i put a mix of miracle grow powder.
Any ideas what to do? or how to make it grow limes?
    Thanks guys...

    • @urbangardeningofficial

Holes in the container will help to drain out the excess water as plant tend to rot in water logged conditions ...and always place small stone or gravel over the drainage hole as it will help to prevent the potting soil from washing out of the hole when you water...:)it will only allow the excess water to drain out...:)

Urban Gardener you are welcome! It's true! You inspired me to do gardening in my terrace in Vancouver ;) quick question for you. Which lemon tree would you recommend for the Vancouver British Columbia weather? My balcony gets a lot of sun during the summer as it's located in the corner of the building. There is some shade if I place the lemon tree under the roof but if I moved it to the uncovered area it gets hot, besides that the rainy season is coming soon. Do you think I could still grow a lemon tree when it's rainy outside? Or perhaps I could bring the tree indoors while it rains. Indoors gets a lot of light as well because of large ceiling to floor windows. Thank you so much for your advice

Thank you for the clear instructions. I particularly liked the steady tone without unnecessary and irrelevant talk. I have a small lemon tree that I potted about a month back. I have followed all the potting instructions and it has started to flower. Should the flowers be pinched as the height of the plant is about one foot and it has only two branches. Thank you in advance.
