I saw Charlie Daniels on stage, this was a few months before he passed away. He walked on the stage like he owned it and I was, I am ashamed to say, wondering if an old guy like him could manage this song like he did when he was young. But he did - he played it flawlessly. There he was, an old grandpa looking guy, and he was just sawing away on his fiddle. It was SO DARN FAST. No mistakes. I feel really lucky that I got to see him. It wasn't even my plan to, someone else bought me the ticket. But I can honestly say I witnessed a real piece of Americana. There'll never be another like him.

Charlie Daniels actually used to frequent the area here and play fiddle for a friend of his that had cancer. Hopefully they're chilling together again now.

Adding to your comment I would assume that Steve ouimette (Gh3 version for those unfamiliar by name) would like it too, his version (in my opinion) was unrivalled by pretty much every other rock 'n' roll cover, until Leo's version. Again my opinion, this is the only other cover that sounds good and doesn't ruin the song like some attempted covers.

The Devil has not yet understood who he contacted. He was lucky that young Johnny was in good spirits. Insanely amazing cover! The violin part is lovely. Looking at Leo in this role, it becomes clear that this is exactly what the most handsome guy in the village should look like❤🌼

This guy always impresses me with his take on some of my favorite songs and I've heard many covers of this one and it's just one of those songs that was written and performed saw flawlessly by the original artist that all covers fall short of my expectations and leave me kinda hanging but I will give credit where credit is due. This guy ranks up there on my list for the passion he puts into his work or the work he puts into his passion I am impressed.

No joke I remember the nights spent failing solos on gh3. Trying to memorize the damn notes as they come at you at damn near lightspeed lol.
Creepzkun the only problem with Leo’s is that he doesn’t adapt Johnny’s solo. He just replays the opening fiddle number in its place.
