Girl, you were tired, you needed a break. I get so emotional when I am overly tired. Everything seems bigger than it is. You look so much better after getting some much needed rest. We are watching and loving what you do.... thank you!

You hit a wall and had the guts to back off and find your way around it.
This tired old guy finds it very inspiring. 😊

Thank you for showing that traveling isn't always wonderful, that some days you'll feel sad or beat down. It seems like a lot of people with TH-cam channels don't show their struggles or 'sad days'. I'm glad it worked out in the end, and you were able to do your tent dance and eat dumplings at a campsite! End screen question: I eaten cold pizza. I stopped once at a grocery store and bought roasted chicken thighs and jojo's. They tasted magnificent after setting up camp. Also, I want a waffle maker that does Montana shaped waffles!

Thanks for being vulnerable and normalizing not being OK. We all need to recognize this happens so we can learn how to fix it rather than ignore it.
Oh, I do like leftovers, reheated or otherwise. Last trip I ate my lunch leftovers cold for supper.

Totally agree. Theres just something about a pile of clean warm fresh laundry that feels comforting.
Sometimes I'll lay down on the couch and dump a basket over myself before folding. It feels so secure.

  • @pawspaws101

You did the right logical thing!
Evaluated the potential risks (no one has a crystal ball) and called a zero day, got some rest and that also removed the stress of the tyre issue!
As a solo traveller that was the perfect thing to do!!!!! IT's ALL ABOUT SAFTEY! (oh and fun!, but safety always comes first)
    You ROCKED IT!

Seeing you take care of your self by staying an extra day in Temple, TX, was heart warming and something more of us need to do when we can when we have those moments. The reality is not every day is happy day and I think it is so cool watching you keep it real and working through that. Remember that you are a strong woman! I'm loving your videos. What an adventure you are on, riding across the country and back. Good action, Amanda!

A very wise decision! A day at the spa...let your mind clear. Watch movies...rest, wash clothes, soak in the tub. Get a new tire when shop is open...then hit the road felling more confident and secure. Excellent!

I completely get the bad mental health days. It has been hard being here in Australia for as long as I have without Scarlett. And we are still waiting on her ABS module. I am so jealous of this trip. Had planned a similar one this year, then we were moved. So glad you made the plans and took off like this my friend. Dinner at camp... Aly and I usually will buy dinner and breakfast at a local grocery store before heading to camp. But leftovers are not a bad option when you can find off leftovers.

  • @junulock

That was certainly the right decision. You don’t want a flat on a bike. Ask me; I know. I had one on the 78 cx500. Fortunately it dropped the rear rim as I was making a slow turn and I didn’t drop the bike. It wasn’t from being worn out but never want to have that happen again. The bike ended up being left on the stand in a grocery store parking lot as I pulled the tire, ran and got it replaced. Popped it on and drove home. That could have been a disaster.
You were exhausted and I’m glad you got a little rest and downtime. As it perked you up by the look of it.
Happy travels on the rest of your trip.

As always, wonderful video. Totally understand that sense of mental fatigue and overwhelmment (!). Also very happy that you made the decision to get that front tire replaced. While on our big trip this year, I replaced my tires halfway through our 3000 mile trip. The shop in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, thought I was a little crazy for replacing that rubber. But I wanted the peace of mind and also I knew I would be in a remote place when the tires were wearing faster. Good on ya!

As for eating leftovers. Yes! Sometimes I cook slightly larger at home and the leftovers end up in my freezer. Will drag it along to eat the first night. By the time I'll cook it's defrosted.

  • @videobiker9131

I’m sure that when you planned the trip you put it in budget for extra money in case something like the tire did go wrong, unless there’s something I missed because I haven’t been watching regularly. I seem to remember it was either you or Tim who said plan from the unexpected. Also taking a zero day is not a sign of weakness, it’s actually a sign of strength. You’re showing that you have the patience and the will to do the ride right instead of just do the ride. Happy riding

This is why you're my absolute favorite Motovlogger. You tell it like it is. On trips like this, sometimes you have to go through hell to get to heaven, and doing weeks on end solo on a motorcycle is very much a mental game as well as the obvious physical effort. I'm glad you were able to pull out of your funk quickly. Enchanted Rock is a great park if you can get a secluded campsite or go in the off season, but yeah it looked crowded. I have a lot of great memories from my many visits there... Texas Hill country is one of my absolute favorite places on Earth. Take care!

I have been battling anxiety for two decades, and have had many panic attacks on motorcycle trips, both while traveling alone and in a group. It has never ruined a trip, but it has made things like pre planning and alternate backup plans (bailout routes, extended rest periods) very necessary. I have been on just about every medication and suffered a myriad of side effects, and have found one that I take as needed that doesn't impair me and allows me to stop things from getting too out of hand and (mostly) manageable. Thankfully, as you know, riding in and of itself is therapy (cycle therapy!) so that helps as well. Sometimes you just have to dial the "adventure" down and just go for a quiet comfortable ride and sleep indoors, then go back to it when you are feeling better.
    Leftovers are the best!!!

  • @Bweizr
    @Bweizr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Unfortunately, I'm too paranoid about food safety to keep leftovers on the bike unless they're shelf stable, and it's generally too hot in AZ to do that. Those potstickers look totally worth it, though.
I love the Texas shaped waffles!

I agree with you in most situations. If it's a reasonable median temperature outside though and it's food that is often added to Japanese Bentos (and I'll be reheating it thoroughly less than two hours later) I feel like that's an acceptable amount of risk. And it was very much worth it and I did not get sick lol

See ya in a few days🏕🏍❗️

Sometimes the road says sloooow down, and the traveler has no choice but to listen. Those emotions flip on me as well, and it always takes a day of self care to get back on track. If there was a time for you to get a pedi, it would be on the road. Any food that someone else prepares or cooks should be saved for later if possible if you ask me.

Nope. I've barely done any camping. It just wasn't anything I was ever exposed to growing up unfortunately. BUT the relief and appreciation I see on your face with those dumplings is palpable. Someday, I hope to try it. Sorry you had a rough day. I guess I would say I've been through varying levels of anxiety but I know a panic attack is different. I had a gf in college that would get them and I would lay on the couch or bed spooning for a few hours at a time, and that usually did the trick. I'm glad your phone calls helped a lot and that you got the tire replaced before anything got dicey. Onward!

  • @waynevowell9732

Amanda, I know it's tough to reserve campsites ahead of time when your schedule is so much in flux, but that is a reality with Texas State Parks. In certain state parks at certain times of the year you might be able to drive in and find something available, but reservations are always recommended. As you discovered, there is no BLM Land or anything like that in Texas, most of the land in Texas is privately owned. There are some private campgrounds around but you really have to know where to look.
I'm glad you were able to spend some time in the Hill Country, Enchanted Rock is pretty cool.
Hang in there, I think you mentioned Monahans was next, I've never been there so I'm looking forward to hear what you think.

Thank you for this beautiful video. Im not sure how hot it is where you are riding but I get very emotional when Im getting heat exhaustion. Im glad you had a rest day to recover.
About camp food, I eat my leftover dehydrated dinner for breakfast! It’s hard to carry food on a trip! Any tips?

Chill. Being on the road is the dream of sooo many people. You are living someone else's dream!! There are trials and tribulations...but it's all just life. On coast to coast round trip rides, I've found that dealers are very accommodating to travelers. Ride Now in Goodyear, Az, got me in immediately with a torn front valve stem. A dealer in Indianapolis got me in with just a few hours notice, for an oil change. One of the things that I've learned...or come to accept...is that even the bad experiences fade with time, and make for great stories. Been riding nearly 60 years, and over half a million miles. Been busted, stranded, broken....BUTT...No bad times. You're on a motorcycle....how much better could life be???

I sympathise with you on your toenail troubles! i have experienced my fair share of that over the years, and let me tell you it is not fun. When it gets problematic it can be so hard to fix. i hope yours is not troubling you any longer.

Well it's better than it was but I'm still on the path to get it properly taken care of.

@@AstheMagpieFlies from my experience, its best not to let it linger. Be careful with it. Get it fixed as soon as you can, I had multiple doctor and hospital visits because of both my big toenails. I wish you the best with it. Love your videos, BTW.

How funny is it, that you've been within 5 minutes of me, twice, and I was in Florida!

Happy belated birthday. To heat the leftovers or to not heat The Leftovers is the question. I've been so hungry I didn't bother to reheat them and ate them cold LOL I would have made a couple of extra Texas waffles to take with me

Greetings from Thailand. I have enjoyed watching your channel. My goal for next year is to take the trip from Southern Thailand to KL Malaysia to Petronas towers. It is a bit different; no camping like your adventures... it is highway and guesthouses or hotels... Cheers mate on the pegs.

Anxiety attacks are awful. They are the destroyer of fun. I'm afraid to ride if I get one. I have a med that helps a lot, but it also isn't safe for riding.
