Thank you, Peter! Love all your videos! Just received my Takomo 101s. Took them out to the range yesterday and decided to hit the four iron. I had no issue hitting high draws around 200 yards. I ordered two and three driving irons
great video ive just purchased the titleist u505 4 iron and been on the range and course and absolutely love it its a very forgiving club so now ive just purchased the titleist u505 2 iron 👍
Sweet. Really like how you get such good distances with such a smooth swing. Something to copy as I pick the game back up after a looooong break.
My wife got me a brand new Wilson Staff Utility 2 iron for Christmas last year for the equivalent of £70 and I absolutely adore the thing. Such a weapon on windy days as my course is on the coast.

I ordered the 101U as soon as it dropped, and within a couple rounds it was arguably my favorite club in the bag.
I’ve got a srixon zx mk2 with that same orange di shaft Pete had in the titleist. It’s just magic. Bombs and stingers both possible and I’m not sure there’s a more fulfilling club to hit well than a driving iron.
I got a brand new Srixon ZX utility the 3 & 4 iron, the 2021 models, incredible clubs. I'm not exactly good enough for the 3 iron and have since switched back to a hybrid, but the 4 iron is firmly in the bag. I still have the 3 iron for certain courses and shots.

As a mid handicapper I’m using the Ping icrossover 2 (18*) driving iron on courses without a lot of forced carry where it rolls out nicely otherwise it’s an 18* Ping hybrid.
Been gaming that Taylormade for over a year now and I couldn’t be happier with it. What shocked me was how good it is off the fairways, and I am not the ball striker that you are. I’ll grab that on a par 5 way before I’ll touch my 3 wood.

Just tested the Titleist. Felt amazing and would generally love that high launch but it was too high and spinny for my swing. Hard to find the UDI anywhere but might just need to trust you on this Pete.

IMO the Ping Crossover is the best driving iron. Love the videos.
I have the new U505 4 iron. It’s great when you get it out the Center of the face weather your a little thin or not it does great, but I find it harsh if you get it out of the toe

I got a used ping G-crossover iron. As a beginner who can't hit his driver well at all and also struggled with full hybrids, this thing is really nice and gets me like 80% of the distance and more often than not it's somewhere in the fairway or light rough.

@@ben380z I have the 4 iron version so 21 degrees of loft. I can carry it around 190-210 and the rollout is usually another 10-20 yards.
Interesting video. I'm using a stealth+ hybrid atm but I have to say that I would like to game a driving iron and that stealth driving iron looks real good and might temp me enough to get one.
All depends on what you want, I think I’ll keep my hybrid in the bag because I know I can trust it
I've struggled with most hybrids (hooking). Recently was bagging cally UW. It was okay. Bought an u505 2 iron. Man, this is the best 18-19 degree club in my life. To be fair, I cannot hit it a Tiger stinger.
ironically I have the stealth + 3 hybrid and the Takomo 101U 2 iron in the bag, love them both.

I have a howson 1 iron in the bag when I'm hating the hybrids I hit that down the fairways. But when it goes wrong boy does it go left!
Adore my U505.....can do pretty much anything I want with it and it gaps beautifully between my 4 iron and my 3 wood.
Out of interest do you have a 2 iron or 3 iron?

Srixon ZX2 is hands down the best on the market. Butter soft, powerful, and fair price. I had the Stealth 2 UDI and sold it after a few rounds. Can’t go wrong with it.

I tried em all, can confirm that was the buttery, right down the muddle one. Turns out, I couldn't order one from ANY without waiting a few months. I should look into them again. 2UDI, RECOIL F3 was the jam. Glad you guys were able to get one. Best

What you think about something like an old chunky 3 iron? Like a ping g10 3 iron
I liked the stealth, but felt the sweet spot was back further, causing me to miss hit more often.
You could just get a sim UDI iron, it's pretty much the same since Taylormade haven't changed anything really. It's my favourite club in the bag and love posting videos of it alone for fun lol

I love my P790 2iron. I don’t carry a driver since I have never been able to find fairways consistently. Got rid of it and my score dropped significantly. Nice video Pete.
Why didn't you review the srixon aswell? I've tried the stealth2 and sounded very clicky. The mark2 feels and sounds like a forged iron. Please add more in future reviews

i bought the Takomo and i have to agree it's not as good as i hoped.. but it was cheap. i play t100 irons and just didn't want to pay the price for the Titleist DI the takomo feels too light to me

Have the Titleist U505 4 iron and the Srixon zx mk2 2 iron. Would’ve gone for the 2 in the 505 as well, but got a great price on the Srixon. Either way, both have changed my long game after years of struggling with Hybrids etc.
Hi John. Would you say the Srixon one is just as forgiving, or hard to hit ?
@@gliglugla1998 it’s pretty forgiving. Maybe not as much as the 505, but definitely nothing scary. I’m also only a 20ish handicap, and I can play it no worries. For me, it’s about average 215 yard club, and the 4 iron is around 185 - 90 (my swing isn’t super fast, so happy with those numbers).

How does the U505 4 Iron compare to your regular iron? I'm considering replacing my 4 Iron for more consistency and longer distance with the U505 vs a 4/5 hybrid.Thoughts?

would be nice to see an actual fitted shaft not the stock aldila shaft in the UDI when you have an upgrade Tour ad in the Titleist (£400 driving iron in total) or use stock offerings from all the manufacturers.
I once carried a Ping 1 Iron, but now I don't understand why most average golfers would not pick something like a 4 or 5 wood for that same slot in the bag. You can hit them low if you want to, but they carry better and are more forgiving. If you have to hit it low a bunch maybe the iron is the better choice, but for most I would think the fairwood would be a much better choice.
Love the comparison. Why would someone choose the stealth UDI over the DHY?
As a high handicapper I love the DHY just curious why a better player would not choose it
Desired ball flight, UDI is generally a flatter - penetrating flight. DHY is a great higher launching flight which may not roll out as much.
Is the Takomo available in left hand?
What shafts did you use?
I often try to have turf interactions, but the turf just never speaks to me.

Mediterranean Sea. SEA. Taylormade UDIs go far. And some be so low spin. But the Srixon ZX-MkII be forgiving. Me like

If you're looking for a great driving iron for cheap go to value golf and get a pinhawk driving iron head for $50 and put it on a shaft of choice.

I find the u505 very unforgiving, I lose a lot of distance when off-centre, very disappointing

these clubs are useful if you struggle to get your driver off the ground with a draw (like Peter Finch), otherwise they are a waste of money
Where is Srixon in all these reviews. The feel and look is hard to beat.
That titleist is much closer to a hybrid than the others.

With how ass I am at golf I genuinely only play with 2-9 irons plus wedges, i hate my current driver so I don’t use it lol
It’s called a 3 hybrid. And why you would take an iron instead is lost on me. Links golf or not. The hybrid is way easier to hit consistently.

Why an iron instead of a Driver?
U505 didn't feel that nice, very clicky for me, Stealth DHY on the other hand is virtually the same as U505 but with better feel. Now is that nicer looking than the U505 is another question.

I switch between 2 driving iron/utility irons depending on conditions:
Ping iCrossover 2 iron and the U505 1 iron
I use the Ping most of the time, but on a windy, dry day the u505 is a fair finding monster and hits incredible stingers. Love them both

Very few people can hit a 2, 3, 4 iron. So how can they hit a driving iron?
If you’re going to say ANYONE you better make sure they build left handed clubs.
What I will say, the second hand market for driving irons is shocking. You can pick up a second hand driving iron for next to nothing, equally if you buy a new one and don't get on with it, expect to take a heavy loss when you sell it on.
