As part of the implementation of the WPS Agenda and National Action Plan Italy also supports an initiative, the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network. Established in 2017, this network aims to facilitate the appointment of high-level women mediators at local and international levels. The network conducts various activities, including local initiatives through antennas that organize events at the grassroots level.
Marcella Zaccagnino is the Deputy Head of Mission of Italy to India. She is a career diplomat in the Italian Foreign Service since 2003. Previously, she was Head of Division at the Directorate General for the European Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, responsible for economic and financial affairs of the EU
WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) is a pioneering South Asian research and training initiative that foregrounds leadership of women in peace and security and promotes cultures of pluralism and coexistence in the region.
The knowledge generated through research is disseminated by WISCOMP to civil society actors and educational institutions (schools, colleges and universities) through diverse methodologies that include training workshops, symposiums, roundtables, film festivals, installations, exhibitions, public lectures, curricular development and innovative pedagogy.
