Just discovered your channel. I look forward to seeing more! I just completed one year of attempting to garden in Florida and I've learned more from a couple of your videos than any other. One day I'll have a Florida Forever Food Forest!

I live in Florida zone 9b. I didn't know you could grow some of the fruit trees/plants you mentioned. I grow pineapple, bananas, papayas, blueberries, strawberries, meyers lemon, lime, and calamondin, Florida cranberries (Jamaican Sorrel) I would love to add some fig trees to my garden. Thanks for sharing.

I'm in NW Florida, previous owner of our home planted Fig and Loquat trees. The figs are always awesome when they get rip and we have to race to get to them before the birds eat them all. The loquats are so good when we do get them but the past two seasons they haven't had as much fruit. The fig and Loquat trees also do much better in our cold snaps we get, unlike the Lemon and peach trees we've lost due to a ice storm a few years back.

Just subscribed, came across your channel and my daughter would feel right at home in your yard. Florida soil is very tricky and amazing how you are growing lots in pots. I've have a big back yard and would like to start planting stuff. I appreciate you mentioning the medicinal plants, I was blown away about the shampoo plant!

Beautiful !! Enjoyed your nicely produced, no fluff, no bs, genuine video ! I live & garden (nearly 25 yrs !) in the interior, hot desert of Metro Phoenix, Arizona. We have a lot of our own challenges; some of them are similar. Takes some effort--but also grow Katuk here !! I watch a lot of Floridians, as we can grow many of the same things, once we augment our soil & climate !

so glad we found you, TH-cam has taken nearly two years to find someone in Florida zone 9 that cane share some practical advice for this growing zone, The algorithms do work, one just has to keep searching. We are at the lower end of Highlands Cnty surrounded by the dying orange groves :-( We sit on 1.6 acres and moved here to grow our own food. We/ve live here 5 yrs and have a Jackfruit tree with three huge jackfruit. It's first fruiting. We have avocado first years we will harvest. It is a labor of cove but moving forward will be nicer with your well put together videos. Tomatoes AUGH Ssad we only have good production from cherry or grape tomatoes. All others die or become diseased before fruit is large enough to harvest.... Any wisdom on growing tomatoes?

I'm near Oviedo. I experimented with pinto beans I bought from the grocery. The plants are beautiful and there are a lot of blooms. But not the first bean. A pepper plant is producing fruit, so the problem isn't pollinators, (or lack of) Outside of the heat or possibly GMO process in the beans I used as seed, what else could cause this lack of productivity?

  • @allenthompson2970

I've found that raised beds are impossible here in Central Florida. Roots from the surrounding area quickly invade the soil and choke out everything else. Even my 25 gallon pots have to be put up on blocks off the ground. Tree roots find the drain holes and invade the pot. Have you had the same problem?
