    I would like to thank you for keeping it concise and avoiding the BMW "elitist" traps. I watch video after video insisting whatever tool is "necessary" or "Dealer only" it's ridiculous. Seems to me these victims are somehow proud of the elusive mysterious way BMW does things. You kept it simple and made it easy. I bled my system without any 3d printing, special tools or nonsense. I have a new to me 06 GSA that I got for a song, it needed a great deal of maintenance items dealt with. You and others like you have made it easy to restore this old girl. Thanks!

    I've watched just about every brake bleed for the servo brake units , bought the beemer boneyard funnel. Also made up a vacuum jar with my vacuum pump. For the r1150rt, k1200rs, k1100lt. You have a great channel. Thank you for the information. .

    Great video exactly what I needed. This is the first modern motorcycle I have owned with ABS so I unknowingly bled the rear brake and was perplexed when it didnt seem to be drawing brake fluid from the external reservoir. On my test drive I got a brake failure light on the dash. turns out I probably just drained the fluid from the ABS reservoir under the tank lol

    I wanted to say thank you for making this condensed video! I just purchased my 2005 r1200gs that was wrecked. I am going thru the brake system now. I bled the abs unit as shown, but having put a new battery in, and turning the key to on, it'll start and run but I don't hear or feel the abs pump turning on. The abs light shows red on the top left blinker control, but it the unit simply does not run. I think Im at the removal and bypass stage. Regardless, you video has been incredibly helpful getting me up to speed. It was very easy to pull the tank off and bleed those 6 in the proper order. Much appreciated!

      The light blinks until you move a bit, then it activates.

    Thank you for the video which is concise to the point and above all well documented.
    Now... putting on my Mc Guyver cap I wonder why you can simply not do the following:
    Instead of the socket wrench bleed valve, you used on the bleed valves in the center of the bike, why not keep it simple and simply slide the hose over the nipple directly over each valve and make it airtight with a tiny hose clamp?
    Then to close the valve in order to build up pressure, you would simply apply the same trick you can use when bending a waterhose in order to prevent it from running too much water when moving it, while there is no spraying nozzle attached and the faucet is open.
    Furthermore I have a question... when do you know that you need to bleed those valves? A logical assumption would be, both filler caps got empty without you noticing... but I leave the answer up to you. Or is this something you should do periodically?
    I own a BMW 2007 Adventure. Great bike, but I fail to comprehend why BMW makes adventure bikes that should go anywhere in remote places and cannot be repaired there and then. Instead you need a well equipped hi-tech garage and a BMW licensed mechanic. What's the point in having an off-road / off grid bike, that requires precise clockwork aeronautic repair facilities while it should be a no brainer that this bike is meant to be ridden and repaired 'in the bush'.

    • @HackaweekTV
      @HackaweekTV  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't know the answer to the last bit, but yes, you can just put a hose on the valve and use a wrench to open close. Pinching the hose will not stop fluid from coming out as it is under a great deal of pressure.

      @@HackaweekTV I've always assumed abs pumps don't operate until needed ie when the wheel locks up. Didn't realise they run everytime the brake is operated!

      @@chr11sf Only in this case. On cars it's only active when the wheel begins to lock up. The BMW motorcycle Integral ABS is a servo type system.

    Is there a specific reservoir for the front and back brakes. I noticed you put the funnel into one but didn’t see if you had to move it to the other side when you did the front brakes.

    • @HackaweekTV
      @HackaweekTV  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Front brake reservoir is on the right side handle bar. It's part of the brake lever assembly

    Ok, I'm kinda confused now... There are videos out here on YT that show how to bleed the front and rear brake fluid on a similar model GS from 2010. The old mechanic (th-cam.com/video/FoXI3kA2-4Q/w-d-xo.html) just removes the old fluid (from the front brake) and tops off with new. What is the difference between what you do, (removing the fuel tank and such to bleed there on 6 different nippels) and what he does just doing the one? Thank you for clarifying this.

    • @HackaweekTV
      @HackaweekTV  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This method bleeds the entire system of fluid including the main ABS pump.
