As a support main, I hate seeing a skirmisher on my own team - unless they're fed, which often is not - but love it when they're the enemy. Because of their playstyle, skirmishers tend to overreach and get punished, not using their massive advantage properly and burning everything to kill my team's 0-7 adc (this happens with all other classes too) and when their lead is gone our team wins a straight 4v4
what makes skirmishers so annoying to play against is a lot of them has some annoying gimmick that can shut down certain champions or straight up break the rules of the game fiora= deals max health true damage to make sure you cannot build defenses against her sylas= your ultimate? his ultimate now belveth= infinite stacking attack speed, putting your team in a timer before she scales and solo carries tryndamere= refuses to die for a little bit master yi= immunity to slows, immunity to getting hit with alpha strike, gwen= is immune jax= fucks up autoattackers riven= has no mana costs, spammable abilities and insane mobility
about belveth you are also forgeting that she is super mobile with Q spam and her W makes her tank more than leona with W on. The problem with the skirmishers is that they have better defense than tanks because they have mobility which is broken because it can be offensive and defensive and abilities that reduce all or almost all damage. I would be happy if maokai E would make him tank what jax's E does.

I started playing league february 2023 as a toplaner and I always heard how yasuo is op and windwall, etc. Then my first time playing against him mid, me and him both were 1 for 1 trading kills, and even now it's sometimes that way. I feel like yasuo is one of those champs were for most champs he's a skill check, and that says a lot about people who hate him. And as you said, compared to modern day skirmishers, he's fairly simple. The only thing I hate about him is his infinite dashes, imo it should be storing dashes, like vi's punches or gp's barrels

Yeah very normal. 4s of blocking all projectiles, 20 dashes in 10s, ignoring 50% of the enemy's bonus armor and hitting 100% crit with 2 items. And lets ignore his passive shield(Which isnt OP by any means until you consider how he already has tons of sustain throufh windwall and dodging skillshots with infinite dashes), no mana, poke damage. He is 100% balanced.

Skirmishers are some of the only classes that Riot don't consider oppressive when they're doing their job. When lane bullies are good at bullying lane such as Renekton or pre-rework Syndra, they're considered unhealthy. When assassins or burst mages are good at killing squishy targets, which is what they're supposed to do, Riot pulls a durability patch or something like that. When the likes of Elise or Lee Sin are doing their job, which is to have an impactful early game, its deemed unhealthy. Certain styles, meanwhile, are barely allowed to be relevant. Think of marksmen mid, mages bot lane or tanks like... in general. While tanks and most off-meta builds are barely allowed to exist and lane bullies, assassins and burst mages are rarely allowed to stay top tier for very long, marksmen, enchanters and skirmishers are quickly buffed on the rare occasions they're weak and, when they're strong, it takes months for them to start getting nerfs and the nerfs that do come aren't nearly as aggressive.
The durability patch wasn't to stop Assassins from doing their job. It was to stop everyone from doing an assassin's job. It just had the unfortunate side effect of nerfing a lot of good assassins.
It's interesting that Marksmen and Enchanters are lumped in with Skirmishers, ADCs were shit for 5 years and when they catch a brief time of relevance they immediately undo the buffs with heavy nerfs for 5 straight patches, while enchanters just being undesirable in the engage one-shot meta it evidently seems to Riot they can't be buffed enough to make them worth the time to draft. Skirmishers have dominated the game since season 3 at least, and everybody else on the team is just there to enable their single-player fantasy.
friendly reminder that the durability patch was done because assassins not only excelled at killing squishy targets, but also had enough haste that their one-shot combos started encroaching on DPS territory. It started to be better to pick an assassin for DPS than a traditional DPS class. Thats what the durability patch was for.

a few years ago I saw someone say that skirmishers are the most jack of all trades class and I think that's a big part of why they're so popular. They can fill any role with different builds and therefore they have a lot more versatility than other classes like tanks and assassins that are really locked in to providing only type of value.
I feel that Yasuo is an anomoly of the skirmisher class. He is weak at 1v1s vs melees, slow at taking towers and excels when he teamfights with knockup champions. He doesnt fit into any conventional class almost like a specialist.
Honestly he really is. He's a skirmisher that specializes in beat mages and projectile based comps. His movement, wind wall, and passive shield to assist against front loaded burst. He of course also just wrecks pure tanks with his items and built in armor pen.

I remember a few years ago ekko was counted as a skirmisher due to the survivability of his W or R. Now he is supposed to be an assassin. He isn’t like other assassins with only 1 dash nor skirmishers as he lacks dmg against tanks. He is in the middle some how.
Honestly, range is almost irrelevant nowadays, with all the dashes in the game now, past the very early laning phase, being a ranged auto attacker is more of a downside than an advantage considering all the stuff melee champions have over ranged. Better items (such as botrk) better flat stats, more moblity, more everything. I understand for pros range is good since you have a team to protect you but for the average players it is not a benefit. That's for auto attackers though, mages are in a much better place since they have actual cc and burst damage.
Used to be a Gwen OTP until I switched to ADC, but I still play her every once in a while. IMO the best champ to play and one of the worst champs to play against. Still.. Skirmishers are better than assassins, at least you see how they run up to kill you..

I think the *worst* part about skirmishers is the people that play the class getting overblown egos from the champ carrying them more than anything, since many of them are very mechanically braindead. And then because of the egos it always devolves into "Am I carrying? I'll never ff. Am I losing? I'm being held hostage or I'll start throwing. Either way I'll talk trash or complain about everything."

Yeah sometimes a dont really know what to do against Yone, I go defend a sideline he is pushing while he has 1 kill and average cs, while being 9 kills and 50 minions above him, dodge every thing he throws the he flashes and autoattacks you to death

Split teamfight in several 2v1/1v1 and it is an easy win for skirmisher if you're good enough. In soloqueue, where team coordination sucks ass it is pretty easy to do, that's why skirmishers are good. No need to thank me for saving you 13 minutes of your lifetime.
Top lane(some mid too) skirmisher are so frustrating because if you get a slightly worse top laner in your team for the rest of the game you have a monkey running around the map killing everyone because "me stronger than you ahaha". That's why I dislike top lane so much, they have a huge pool of degenerate champions and lots of them are skirmisher. Skirmisher arent easy mode for winning game but they are for just killing shit and thats whats annoying

I think the *worst* part about skirmishers is the people that play the class getting overblown egos from the champ carrying them more than anything, since many of them are very mechanically braindead. And then because of the egos it always devolves into "Am I carrying? I'll never ff. Am I losing? I'm being held hostage or I'll start throwing. Either way I'll talk trash or complain about everything."
Out of all skirmishers yi, trynd, and maybe jax are really easy, others are not braindead at all, perfectly average champs in terms of skill
@@nimrodszocs2795 yeah just to double check went and looked through the list hun. The only character that's difficult to play in the class is Kled without skarl and I guess Riven if you can't handle basic autoattack weaving.
Judging by the criteria, Irelia should be classified as a skirmishes as well no? Decent early, good scaling, high DPS and 1v1, split push potential, can escape using q on minions and jg, can build tanky

Yeah sometimes a dont really know what to do against Yone, I go defend a sideline he is pushing while he has 1 kill and average cs, while being 9 kills and 50 minions above him, dodge every thing he throws the he flashes and autoattacks you to death

Their honesty are stressful to play because if you beat them you need make sure their constantly dead or they find a way to gather enough resources and comeback into the game
Split teamfight in several 2v1/1v1 and it is an easy win for skirmisher if you're good enough. In soloqueue, where team coordination sucks ass it is pretty easy to do, that's why skirmishers are good. No need to thank me for saving you 13 minutes of your lifetime.

Top lane(some mid too) skirmisher are so frustrating because if you get a slightly worse top laner in your team for the rest of the game you have a monkey running around the map killing everyone because "me stronger than you ahaha". That's why I dislike top lane so much, they have a huge pool of degenerate champions and lots of them are skirmisher.
Skirmisher arent easy mode for winning game but they are for just killing shit and thats whats annoying
