Renegade is Kevin's original song that he would perform for years with Pentatonix. Everyone would leave the stage but Avi who would do overtone singing while Kevin set up his instrument and then leave as well. That one you need to do for sure. Kevin's primary instrument was the cello starting when he was a small child on the Suzuki method. When you get to Christmas they have an original song "That's Christmas to Me" and the music video features all of them when they were children in video clips. You can see Kevin with his cello there.

They were told that there had to be at least 5 people in the group to audition for The Sing Off. They saw it, flew him out immediately knew they needed him. Avi was found by recommendation of a friend. The group as a whole had been together about 24 hours when it was their turn to audition. Kirstie Mitch and Scott grew up together in TX. Avi left a few years in for solo career. He was replaced by Matt another incredible base. I they all have at least one channel in addition to the group

Kevin is a world class cello player and saxophone player that played Carnegie Hall twice while he was still in high school. He received scholarships to pursue medical school and successfully graduated pre-med from Yale. He was in the process of getting ready to start medical school when he was contacted by Scott from Pentatonix and persuaded to audition with them as a beatboxer for the "Sing Off". Amazing that beatboxing was just something Kevin did for fun as a teenager. For a different feel and more amazement, check out his cello playing in cover of "Down" on his 'KO' channel. There is an old video of him as a teenager in high school playing the saxophone at Carnegie Hall. When PTX went to China, Keven blew away the audience by speaking to them in Mandarin. On top of everything else he can do, he lived in China for a while and learned to speak their language. Not bad for an immigrant kid whose parents are from Nigeria.
The cello is also the closest string instrument to the human voice so we have a tendency to connect with it more than the other strings. And then, when you have someone like Kevin drawing the bow across those strings, it just takes you elsewhere.

At the risk of adding my voice to the hordes who've already said this, his cover of Marian Hill's 'Down' will blow your mind - yes, he really IS doing absolutely EVERYTHING you hear on that, the man is a supernovae of talent. Oh, and he also speaks five languages as well, including Mandarin Chinese.
