Thanks for explaining the looping. Beat-boxing while playing the cello? Wow! I love to watch musicians who are having fun. And your reaction was great, you were having fun too, just discovering Kevin’s many talents. Great job.
John, You would absolutely enjoy bringing up the video of Kevin playing Carnegie Hall in his teens... Playing and being recognized for his saxophone talents. I'd love to see your reaction to it! Thank you for doing what you do... Appreciated and enjoyed!
If you want to see something more contemporary then watch Kevin’s Fifth, from PTXs latest concert. I don’t know his I.Q. but it must be way up there. Piano at age 4, cello at 6, sax after that. He was a guest musician as a child to play the saxophone at Carnegie Hall. Lived in China and speaks fluent Mandarin, was accepted into Yale Med School. He is an amazingly humble man! Great sense of humor and his laugh is infectious! This was great! Thanks John
Kevin and all of PTX have such joy in their music. They are all talented, but when they perform you can see they truly enjoy it. That is rare. They all have perfect voices.
One of my faves, but for pure excitement, do watch Kevin’s Fifth snd appreciate the growing synergy between him and Matt. In this the cello is Sam’s voice. Then he adds his actual voice.
This is one of my favorites of his. I just don't understand how he can record and retrieve so many tracks with just two pedals. If you want to hear him sing, one of the last major pieces on his channel is a recording of him singing "True Colors", no instruments or beat boxing, singing multiple harmonies with himself. Since the baby came around three years ago he's only had time to do shorts.
I love Kevin. He's a wonderful musician, a true polymath (polymaths are the people geniuses look at and say, "Boy, I wish MY brain were that good."), and he's one of the kindest people in the world. And his laugh is like the sun coming out from behind the clouds on a gray day. Just an incredible person all around. Thanks for reacting to this. I hadn't encountered it before. Beautiful.
Kevin is unusually gifted musically, it's extraordinary how he excels at everything - he is such a treasure! Your explanation of the pedal was interesting!
Would love to see your react to more of Kevin's solo videos - I think your audience would be appreciative ofhis talent - AND your interpretation/assimilation - KO - "True Colors"
I'm so happy that you reacted to Kevin's video. He is amazing. I love the way that he makes his cellos sing. I love everything on Kevin's TH-cam channel. Another incredible all-music Kevin video is "Adele Medley". Also, please check out Kevin's 5th - the live 17-minute version. Please react to them when you get the chance. .
Any good cellist can make that instrument cry. Kevin can make it wonder, exclaim, question, reflect, snort laugh . . . what ever he wants. Oh, did you know he studied to be a doctor and speaks Really fluent Chinese?
Anyway, This is a special they did I think last year, could have been two years ago, the video starts out with Scott explaining how they got Kevin, then there is a15ish minute solo by Kevin doing the Cello boxing, and Matt joins him on the drums. th-cam.com/video/DbCasvcNx78/w-d-xo.html

One of the most fun things about Kevin is that when you look at his face while he's doing this, he's not showing off - he's just having fun!!
Yes!!! Check out Kevin's fifth!!! Will blow you away!!!

He just looks so happy the whole time I love the Joy on his face as he's playing
Gosh. The way he’s making the cello sound like a vocal with all the slides and vocal trills. Damn. He’s good.

Yes! Same here!
He would have seen Kevin's 5th at their Christmas concert last December. Although, I wouldn't mind him breaking down how cool it is.
Amazing.. Love it 😍😍😍
