    Are you guys able to start doing deep dives on shaft lineups? For example, the full project X wood line-up or the DG iron shaft lineup etc etc. Help us get a sense of the characteristics of each shaft and what type of player each shaft is aimed at. A lot of us dont have the means to access a fitter, so having that information about these shafts will help us make better buying decisions when buying second hand or buying online.

    HexTow is Hexcel's Spread Tow Fabric, similar to Textreme that had been used in the original Project X Black shafts. It has a higher strength to weight ratio than standard woven fabric composites and behaves closer to the conventional unidirectional plies used in carbon shafts, but holds better off-axis properties. Also, the fibers stay very flat in the weave pattern which lets them hold a higher fiber content volume fraction, so you can use less resin and keep the shaft lighter than when using equivalent standard woven fabrics (or probably even filament wound ones too). Seems like they can use the HexTow to create a more stable shaft throughout its on and off-axis loading range while staying in the standard weight range compared to only using unidirectional plies.

  • @Alex-tl6vz
    @Alex-tl6vz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Chemist here, seeing True Temper work with Hexcel is pretty exciting. Hexcel makes solid graphite products. I would bet TT was able to take a ventus blue and reverse engineer the velocore construction (pretty easy for anyone who does carbon fiber work), and perhaps improve upon it with better materials and design. Fujikura's marketing is more aggressive than TT so we might not see blue rdx being pushed during fits mass wide as much...but will be interesting to hear Ian in one year about the two shafts' performances for txg customers.

    I attended a Cobra fitting this summer and tried a Hzdrus Smoke yellow in the Speed Zone driver with a stiff shaft. Lost my hook and was hitting power fades longer than normal. I have played a few of the HZRDUS Smoke shafts in both driver and FW metals, and the HZRDUS Yellow 6.0 was in the top 3 or 4 driver shafts that I have hit in 2019-2020. I also have always liked the Mitsubishi Diamana Blueboard (or S+) shafts, so perhaps this shaft would be a contender for me to try. If I hadn’t stumbled upon the Miyazaki Kusala Mizu (5554 profile) shafts, I would probably still be playing the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow 6.0 in my driver and a Diamana S+ 7S in my 4-wood.

    Stiff tip, stip butt with counterbalancing is exact description of the Nunchuk first designed by Gerry Hogan in 1990 and reintroduced about 15 years ago.
    The mid flex point allows the torque and twist to happend during DS and shaft to straightened with square face at impact.
    Clearly Nunchuk has been copied once patent expired. All shafts will eventually pick up on the genius of the design.
