The words that "God notices " really got to me. I deal with a lack of appreciation from my 3 kiddos and my husband. But you e made me realize I'm looking at the wrong people for appreciation. I will be cleaning for God now. 😊 he notices my work and my homemaking. It's through service to him that I will keep a clean and godly home.

Amen sis! He notices when others don't. I feel you sis and that's what I remind myself that God sees the work I do even if others don't, it's all good He notices and marks it down so no need to stress and stress others.

The kids should start helping out too. Begin by giving them little responsibilities and gradually increase. e.g. "Hey kids, no tv or phones till the dining table is cleared. Kids #1 and 2, load the dishes in the dishwasher." This prepares them for adulthood and will def increase appreciation! Start with a chore chart 🙂

We often look at the scripture that states "work as unto the Lord" as being applicable to working outside the home but working as unto the Lord applies to the inside of the home first as your home is your first ministry. God sees what you do and everyone else will get it later.

Are not being lazy if you work and then take time to rest. People go, go, go and burn themselves out people pleasing, looking for approval, trying to keep up with the Joneses, and striving for success. That's a whole other problem. Being lazy is letting things fall apart around you and wasting time (like I am now 😂) I understand the lazy she is talking about and I struggle with it sometimes.

I was praying for a long time about being motivated. Lord, please give me the motivation to get up and start. I am the type of person that once I get started I tend to go, go, go. My husband came to me today and told me he wanted to let me know he has noticed my efforts recently. That touched my heart and drew my attention to the fact that the Lord heard my prayers. Sometimes my energy is just so low. I feel depressed. I feel discouraged. I do often get myself trapped in cycles of doom scrolling as Tabitha said. I have felt so much more accomplished and motivated to continue keeping up on everything. I grew up in an unkempt house. The last month or so I've felt led to really start involving my young kids and teach them how to do chores. There is just such a difference. Now for the motivation and know how to keep up on menu planning. That's a big struggle for me too.

I have 5 children. Sometimes it makes it easier if you keep them all in the same room with you in a very controlled environment. Controlled meaning not much they can get into to make messes. The times they are awake and are not napping you can plan the play time so you are involved with this and there is no huge mess to ever pick up. Then during nap times you can do the real cleaning stuff quickly in spurts. Also you can involve the littles in helping… rags for each to dust or they can help sort socks or fold clothes to help put things away… you can make a game of it and play praise music, sing songs together , etc… Be the leader, teacher, mom you can be. Have a plan. You got this! God can help you do it! 😊

I love the saying “Do what you can. But be realistic about what that is” I use to make huge To-Do list because I felt lazy if I didn’t get EVERYTHING done but then couldn’t get it done because it was too much-which then made me feel even more lazy and incompetent… especially in the realm of social media and comparison. I finally realized that I had to be realistic about what I could actually get done in a day without neglecting my family and exhausting myself. Yes we all have 24 hrs in a day but not everyone’s 24hrs look the same. You have be realistic in what YOU can do and work from there. I actually rarely watch TH-cam videos anymore because it’s not usually a good use of my time (no offense) and when I’m doing chores I’m either multitasking with kids or using it as quiet time for my brain!

I used to be the lazy housewife then I prayed about it and God gave me strength. What works for me is to make a list of what needs to be done and check it off, a single check off the list motivates me to do another thing and at some point everything gets checked😊. I'm not perfect, I still have my "lazy days" and my husband always encourages me to take a break whenever I need to. But one thing I've just recently realized, if in my morning prayer I specifically ask for God to give me strength to do my housework for the day, its definately easier, everything just flows, I feel more energized😊

How wonderful!!! Often laziness is a symptom of a deeper problem. I’m sure it can vary for some but for me it’s perfectionism. I spent years thinking…If I can’t do it perfectly I’m not interested. Until I moved my core value to trusting God in daily bread obedience instead of perfectionistic performance, that was honestly just to gain a feeling of superiority, I never made progress. A good rule for me is 15 minutes of work every hour. You can accomplish so much in 15 minutes. Also look around and find things to be grateful for don’t look for faults. God gave you everything you have don’t insult His gifts. Appreciate small things!!!

If it comes down to home making and keeping a clean home or time spent meaningfully engaged with my three special needs children I will choose those kids and my spouse every time . I do agree we waste so much time on phones and devices. I believe it is our responsibility to engage and play with out kids .Thanks for sharing your perspective .

I love your digital diary. Depreession from controlling people and narcissists can cause severe trauma which leads to lethargy, clutter/hoarding and or more.
It can destroy our lives. And we don't realize we are drifting in a downward spiral bc ut is so subtle.
We don't know to realize or know something unless we actually see it or catch ourselves doing it.
Shifting our focus to what is good, pure, true, beautiful and the like will help pull us out of the dark spiral we may not always realize we are in.

Loved this video! The balance of work and rest here with an emphasis on work. We seem to live in a day when work in a time where work is supposed to take last priority. We are encouraged to rest as much as possible, play as much as possible, and do the dishes whenever it suits us. I do not believe this is God’s original plan for us, especially as homemakers. As a mother to three, I believe it’s important that my children see me doing the dishes before going out to play with them and especially when I don’t feel like doing them! I believe it’s important for my children to see me folding laundry and doing house work. They are learning that I have a job to do and they too will have work to do when they become adults. My children are each other’s playmates. They have toys and I agree with Tabitha, it is not our job to entertain our children ALL the time, but this does not mean we are not enjoying them. I too often find this, enjoy your kids because it goes too fast. Just because you were working hard in your home. Doesn’t mean you are enjoying your family. You are the mom, not the playmate. But that doesn’t mean we don’t play with her kids and enjoy them.

    • @carolebyham172
      @carolebyham172 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I should add, that we have family members who have an off balance of relationship and work. In both directions. I think balance is truly key. The mom and her family who has emphasized relationship over housekeeping, raised six sloppy children. They’re all adults now and rather dysfunctional generally speaking. The other side ended up being very functional, but definitely missed the warmth and love. So I definitely think there needs to be a very strong balance. Because if you constantly choose relationship over your responsibility in the home, your family might grow up to not have a strong concept of homemaking.

I have had very emotional days where it’s very difficult to get things done in the house because of nausea and pain so it has emotionally affected me negatively sometimes as it feels like I don’t get many things done. There are times when it is laziness and times when my body just doesn’t cooperate because of pain and limitations. This has been a challenging season two exercise discipline despite pain. Thank you for this firm, but gently worded, reminder. It must have been very tressful for you to follow God's leading and post this. People are going to get offended, I'm sure. It's very easy to fall into lazy habits and patterns and then justify ourselves. I deserve a break, a reward. I just need to zone out for a but... etc. But alot of times a good stress clean is a way better way to get it out then doom scrolling or online shopping for all the things that will "fix it". I needed that reminder. I've been stressed about things ging on for us right now and let the house go too much. The kids follow my lead, and have gotten lazy as well. I need to step up and crack down on my own laziness, so I can help them learn to be more productive so we can enjoy our fun time guilt free.

Wow I just discovered your channel, and I already felt convicted with your title before starting it. I feel like God was speaking to me. Everything you described is me. And I always told myself “what’s the point?” As I also have to clean up after my spouse so it’s a battle not to get bitter and sit around. Although many ladies mentioned rest was important, for me it was more than rest I was just being lazy and watching trash tv and scrolling for hours like you mentioned. I struggled with depression for many years after my young kids were born and I think part of that reason was because I wasn’t homemaking accordingly like you mentioned. I loved this video so so much! And I started to finally pick up while listening. Thank you! ❤and God bless you. This really helped me and blessed me. Your voice is so soothing and peaceful! I was brought up being discouraged by my non-believing mother about not to even bother helping her out whenever I asked, thereby the long struggle of feeling helpless btwn perfection & laziness hating my mundane life. But I thank God for his relentless pursuit that caused me to accept the Lord Jesus, and through your encouraging video I can learn to be diligent (not hardworking) like an ant invisible to the ppl in the same difficult house, but not to God the Heavenly Father who sees in secret. 😊

Thank you so much for sharing these thoughts on laziness and how destructive it is. It affects you and those you love the most. Plus when you are not doing your best at creating a clean, well organized home, it affects your mental health. Work, especially housework, can be overwhelming. When we are having a difficult time staying motivated to keep tidiness, we need to focus on completing tasks one at a time. Make a list and check tasks off when completed. Before you know it, everything will be done. When I first got married many years ago, I worked three jobs. We were paying off cars and saving money for both my husband and I to be able to go to grad school. The only way I survived it was by making my lists. It kept everything running. I also knew this wasn't forever. I had never heard the Proverbs passage, but I wish I had.
