idk if you realize this - but guys like you are the silent heroes of music production or rather the 'teaching of music production' if you will.. if someone chooses to buy a course they invest a lot of money but usually just get tought what's already out there a million times.. but you guys share really valuable tips that are just more obscure and you next to never get out of the paid stuff! thank you so much!

reading a book on FM synthesis is what helped me "FM Theory and applications" by John Chowning (the guy who actually discovered FM synthesis). It explains the whole science and math of it

great video. more on FM8 please. i use serum and form mostly but have been wanting to get into this synth to explore it's unique qualities. I hope NI decides to update it like theyre doing for Massive.

I always forget about the lfo midi tool in logic.
I always end up just selecting the WRITE button and once you move anything, Logic records the animation. Then I open animation lanes and draw it precisely with the pencil. But it you are looking for precise rhythms then the midi effect is better. But if you prefer tweaking knobs, the Write, or Latch buttons will record everything. You just have to remember to change the Write or Latch commands back to Read.

I also liked the FM7 , but the FM8 takes it to the next level. Amazing synth!

Great tutorial man, straight to the point.
Just picked up FM8 and opening it for the first time I thought ".....fuck this is complicated."
But its really not and I appreciate you for taking the time to make this!

I just bought fm8 too, the UI is super outdated and inefficient. You don't need 5 tabs to do everything, and most of the time you're only using the OPS + Morph tab to do everything since morph has a global envelope for FM and amp. Still a beautiful synth!

12:49 I hate the fact that fm8 doesnt let you modulate anything besides of the amplitude... kind of a turnoff...

13:16 adding that modulator coming from outside FM8. What DW is that coming from? Or is it a plugin?

Why they use offset and ratio instead of octaves , semitones and fintune? it would be much more musical... furthermore I realised many problems with working with it what limits its potential using it....
