I was told not to do this on the inside if the window has double or tripple glass, since the temperature difference will crack the glass eventually. Just something to check before you do it.
Totally false as long as you use the proper film. Yes, it is true that film can cause glass to crack from thermal fracture but that is only if you install the wrong film to windows or have factors such as shading. You should never install car film on your home windows this is why I recommend using a professional. They will use their knowledge to install proper film and comes with a warranty not DIY.
Man, I promise I wish I watch this last week. The level of struggle was so real, I almost punched a whole through the window. But thanks, because I have 2 more windows to do. I have hope now😁

Regular tinted or carbon tint doesn’t even reflect heat. Maybe 10% at most with a 5% limo tint. A 70% (aka clear) ceramic blocks 85% heat 🙂 You can’t tell the difference. I have it on my windshield and if I roll down a window to compare it doesn’t even look tinted. But it’s like 2-3x the cost of regular tint.
Word of caution for anyone , applying film on any type of impact windows will void warranty and insurance won’t cover you, I live in South Fl and i learned this lesson the hard way.
What kind of film did you use? I've been thinking about doing it to my entrance door but heard a lot of folks said it is not recommended to your window? Still undecided now
Hey you can’t use the window tint on double pane windows cause it will ruin the windows. Did you consider that? Or are you using different tint that you could use on double pane?
Hope someone can answer this. I bought a different tint but the tape side was under the mirror (sticky) side. I saw a someone apply this from the outside with the mirror toward the outside. Here, it's being applied the opposite. Does it matter if the sicky side is on the window side facing in or out? I want the mirror but want to see it from the outside. I've looked all over and no one seems to have an answer.
When I buy a house this is the first thing I’ll do, except I would go with a 50% I don’t want it to look too dark from the outside because black windows could ruin the appeal of the house depending on what color the exterior is. That’s all my opinion though.
Just want to make sure before you do these type of treatments, the manufacturer of your window doesn't explicitly state not to. Some window manufacturers caution that adding films may in fact do damage.
Can’t use infrared meter to test. Film reflects heat at glass surface so it will appear hotter on infrared. True test is a btu meter shows amount of heat transfer into the room.
seems like it would turn all the light coming into your house into cool blue light. no warmth. looks like its close to night time all the time. kinda depressing looking.
God loves all of us so much He came in the flesh to die and rise so that if we choose to accept Jesus as our one true Savior turning from our sins we may be gifted eternal salvation through Christ’s perfect sacrifice on the cross. Have a wonderful weekend everyone
This is not car window tint not even close you’re using the same product. Everyone else does car window tent. It’s not like this not at all very misleading. The problem is with this mirror film stuff at night. When you have lights on inside it becomes an inside mirror you can’t see outside, but everyone on the outside looking in can see you literally are you someone to be having your face pressed against the glass and you would not know it’s there
The fan in the hole in the roof causes a negative pressure causing the air to flow through the soffit removing hot air from your attic, which makes your ac need to run less to keep the house cool. Lower energy cost less maintenance to your condenser and it didn't cost much to do... The tint is used along side blinds. Your douboe paned windows only have an R value of like 4 so heat and cold will pass through easily compared to insulated walls, even tint raising r value by 1 or 2 can have a decent impact of energy efficiency. You seem ignorant to home construction 🤷♂️
@@iVolkswagen some, but not most. The biggest issue is damaging the low e film inside the panes. But with a few minutes of googling before buying a film. You can find ones that fit exactly what you need by searching the nfrc and shgc of the films. There are plenty of films that Blick uv without gaining heat which is the main damage to window units.
Do not at first push to the edges at first. Watch pros do it and learn a better install. Yes his method will work but issues can show up doing it this way.

When you open the film, spray that area as well. It will keep it from sticking to itself and ruining the film.
I have been Tinting for over 10 years and you just taught me something with cutting out a 45° angle… Thank you for that
How much would you charge for that job?

Interesting, this is what I thought and had previously read as well.
Depending on the film. This cheap Amazon film will hurt the windows. Only use a high quality metal or ceramic film.

Could have shown how it looks from the outside.

You could use a clear ceramic tint as well. People do on their windshields so it’s doesn’t darken the window just reflect the heat/ UV rays.

Seriously wasn't even considering doing this on my own until I saw this video. Thanks
What is the exterior view, please?
While peeling the clear film spray lubricant while pulling to allow film to be adjusted
Looks great.. those floating shelves look great too 👀
What chemicals should be used to clean the window when it gets dirty and will it damage the film?
Water only
I bought some tent from TEMU but had No back peel so only use plain water.

Why cant you use tint on a double pane window?
So if it’s not double pane, it’s all good though?
How have the windows held up with the tint on. Any issues?.
Tint is not something you want to cheap out on. This will 100% fade and turn purple overtime. Buy a quality ceramic tint for heat reduction.
In 3 years, he’ll be in a bigger house doing more unnecessary projects for you to critique on! :)
That tint already looks purple. Can tell a huge difference between cheap tint and the llumar I use
Thank You, I’m totally doing this to my windows! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏾
Can you see inside of the house at night when the lights are on?
It is important to use a stainless blade, that way you do not score the glass
Would it be beneficial to take of the window beads so you can go to the very edge of the glass?
Can you see outside at night?
Did it make a difference on how the house feels, heat wise?

When you do flat glass with car film, the film will be terribly difficult to remove and leave behind a major amount of glue
I wonder if he is going to do a follow up video about how his windows cracked from thermal stress when using automotive film?!
Cut off 1/16th of an inch so it fits nice and snug....nice and snug 1/16th inch off each side...different definitions of "snug"

What if the tent have no baking
My neighbour did this. Now she has mould and mushrooms growing in her bedrooms.🤣
Show us how it looks from the outside.
Do you need to remove these in the winter? We rely heavily on sunlight in the winter to heat our home.
Then don’t tint your window brotha . Or just buy cheap tint so the removing it doesn’t suck hahaha
Mirror tint for even more privacy 😉
I love this! Great job!
Awesome shirt
wow that's amazing!!!
Is there a reason you don’t precut the film before you peel it like you would a car window? That way there’s less chance of contamination…
great ideas

Yeah he must live in a warm climate because the tint could cause windows to crack in cold weather
I had to remove this type of film..it caused my windows to fail.
This is what I had read also, that manufactures discourage this as it could lead to damage, failure, voiding of warranty.
I tried this, twice! Had to throw away film both times, it is not easy to do.
Does not work to keep heat out someone else already proved and measured with infrared thermometer

Failing to show view from outside & views at nighttime, both from in-and-outside? Well, fail.
Should be very careful doing this. Windows will explode If the wrong tint is used on the wrong type of window.
