  • This video explores different ways to troubleshoot problems that may arise when performing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A PCR is an experimental technique commonly used in the lab during undergraduate classes. However, problems may arise when performing this technique. This video examines4 different problems which may arise, while primarily focusing on troubleshooting weak/faint bands. The other 3 problems this video looks at is unexpected/nonspecific bands, missing/no bands, and smeared bands.
This video was made by McMaster University students Ravneet Sidhu, Simran Chima, Julia Steriopoilos, and Parmida Behniain collaboration with the Demystifying Research McMaster Program.
